< Proverbs 10 >

1 The proverbs of Solomon [Peaceable, Recompense]. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

3 Adonai will not allow the soul of the upright to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
Jehova Nyasaye ok we ngʼat makare obed gi kech, to oketho gombo mar joricho.
4 He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
Lwedo manyap miyo ngʼato bedo jachan, to lwedo ma jakinda kelo mwandu.
5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
Ngʼat makayo cham e kinde oro en wuowi mariek, to ngʼat ma nindo kinde keyo en wuowi makwodo wich.
6 Blessings are on the head of the upright, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Gweth sidho kondo mar loch ewi ngʼat makare, to timbe mahundu opongʼ e dho ngʼat marach.
7 The memory of the upright is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
Paro miparogo ngʼat makare nobed gweth, to nying ngʼat marach nolal.
8 The wise in heart receives mitzvot ·instructions·, but a chattering fool will fall.
Ngʼat mariek e chunye rwako chike, to ngʼat mofuwo ma wachne ngʼeny dhi e kethruok.
9 He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
Ngʼat mobidhore wuotho kaonge luoro, to ngʼatno maluwo yore mobam ibiro yudo mapiyo.
10 One winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
Ngʼat madiemo wangʼe giwuond kelo kuyo, to ngʼat mofuwo ma wachne ngʼeny dhi e kethruok.
11 The mouth of the upright is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Dho ngʼat makare en soko mar ngima, to timbe mahundu opongʼo dho ngʼat marach.
12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
Sigu kelo miero, to hera umo maricho duto.
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
Rieko iyudo e dho jogo mongʼeyo tiend wach, to luth en mar ngʼe ngʼatno maonge gi rieko mar ngʼado bura.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
Joma riek okano ngʼeyo, to dho joma ofuwo kelo kethruok.
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Mwandu mar jomoko e ohinga mochiel motegno ma gigengʼorego, to dhier e kethruok mar jochan.
16 The labor of the upright leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.
Pok joma kare kelonegi ngima, to mwandu ma joricho yudo kelonegi kum.
17 He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
Ngʼat mawinjo weche mirieyego wuotho e yo madhiyo e ngima, to ngʼat motamore kethone tero ji mamoko e yor lal.
18 He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
Ngʼatno mapando sigu manie chunye, dhoge nigi miriambo, to ngʼatno ma jakwoth ofuwo.
19 In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.

20 The tongue of the upright is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.

21 The lips of the upright feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.

22 Adonai’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
Gweth mar Jehova Nyasaye kelo mwandu, kendo ok omed chandruok kuome.
23 It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
Ngʼat mofuwo yudo mor e timbe maricho, to ngʼat man-gi winjo bedo mamor kuom rieko.
24 What the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the upright will be granted.
Gima ngʼat marach oluoro biro loye; to gima ngʼat makare dwaro ibiro miye.
25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the upright stand firm forever.
Ka auka mager ofuto, to joricho otieko; to joma kare chungo motegno nyaka chiengʼ.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
Mana kaka kong awayo machamo lak kendo ka iro malungo wenge, e kaka jasamuoyo ni jogo moore.
27 The fear of Adonai prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Luoro Jehova Nyasaye miyo idak amingʼa, to higni mar ngʼat marach ingʼado bedo machwok.
28 The prospect of the upright is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
Geno mar joma kare en mor, to geno mar joricho nolal nono.
29 The way of Adonai is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
Yor Jehova Nyasaye e kar pondo ni joma kare, to en kethruok ni jogo matimo richo.
30 The upright will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
Joma kare ok nopudh ngangʼ, to joricho ok nodongʼ e piny.
31 The mouth of the upright produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
Dho joma kare kelo rieko, to lep mar richo nongʼad oko.
32 The lips of the upright know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
Lew joma kare ongʼeyo gima owinjore, to dho joricho wacho mana gik mochido.
