Numbers 8
1 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
2 “Speak to Aaron [Light-bringer], and tell him, ‘When you light the menorah ·lamp· candles, the seven menorah ·lamp· candles shall give light in front of the menorah ·lamp·.’”
Parle à Aaron et tu lui diras: Lorsque tu auras placé les sept lampes, que le chandelier soit dressé à la partie australe. Ordonne donc que les lampes regardent contre le nord vis-à-vis de la table des pains de proposition; c’est contre cette partie que leurs le chandelier regarde, qu’elles devront luire.
3 Aaron [Light-bringer] did so. He lit its menorah ·lamp· candles to light the area in front of the menorah ·lamp·, as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
Et Aaron le fit, et il posa les lampes sur le chandelier, comme avait ordonné le Seigneur à Moïse.
4 This was the workmanship of the menorah ·lamp·, beaten work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which Adonai had shown Moses [Drawn out], so he made the menorah ·lamp·.
Or voici la façon du chandelier: il était d’or ductile, tant la tige du milieu, que tout ce qui sortait des deux côtés des branches: c’est selon le modèle que montra le Seigneur à Moïse, que Moïse fit le chandelier.
5 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
6 “Take the Levites [Descendants of United with] from among the children of Israel [God prevails], and cleanse them.
Prends les Lévites du milieu d’Israël, et tu les purifieras
7 You shall do this to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of habitual sin ·missing the mark· cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.
Selon ce rite: Qu’ils soient aspergés d’eau de purification, et qu’ils rasent tous les poils de leur chair. Et lorsqu’ils auront lavé leurs vêtements, et qu’ils seront purifiés,
8 Then let them take a young bull, and its meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and another young bull you shall take for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
Ils prendront un bœuf des troupeaux, avec sa libation, de la fleur de farine arrosée d’huile: et toi, tu prendras un autre bœuf du troupeau pour le péché;
9 You shall present the Levites [Descendants of United with] before the Tent of Meeting. You shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails].
Et tu feras approcher les Lévites devant le tabernacle d’alliance, toute la multitude des enfants d’Israël ayant été convoquée.
10 You shall present the Levites [Descendants of United with] before Adonai. The children of Israel [God prevails] shall lay their hands on the Levites [Descendants of United with],
Et lorsque les Lévites seront devant le Seigneur, les enfants d’Israël poseront leurs mains sur eux,
11 and Aaron [Light-bringer] shall offer the Levites [Descendants of United with] before Adonai for a wave offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel [God prevails], that it may be theirs to do the service of Adonai.
Et Aaron offrira les Lévites en la présence du Seigneur, comme un don de la part des enfants d’Israël, afin qu’ils le servent dans son ministère.
12 “The Levites [Descendants of United with] shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you shall offer the one for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and the other for a burnt offering to Adonai, to make atonement for the Levites [Descendants of United with].
Les Lévites aussi poseront leurs mains sur la tête des bœufs, dont tu sacrifieras l’un pour le péché, et l’autre pour l’holocauste du Seigneur, afin que tu pries pour eux.
13 You shall set the Levites [Descendants of United with] before Aaron [Light-bringer], and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to Adonai.
Tu présenteras ensuite les Lévites devant Aaron et ses fils, et tu les consacreras après les avoir offerts au Seigneur,
14 Thus you shall separate the Levites [Descendants of United with] from among the children of Israel [God prevails], and the Levites [Descendants of United with] shall be mine.
Et tu les sépareras du milieu des enfants d’Israël, afin qu’ils soient à moi;
15 “After that, the Levites [Descendants of United with] shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering.
Et après cela ils entreront dans le tabernacle d’alliance, pour qu’ils me servent. Et c’est ainsi que tu les purifieras et les consacreras pour l’oblation du Seigneur, parce qu’ils m’ont été donnés en don par les enfants d’Israël.
16 For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel [God prevails]; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel [God prevails], I have taken them to me.
C’est en place des premiers-nés qui ouvrent un sein quelconque, que je les ai reçus.
17 For all the firstborn among the children of Israel [God prevails] are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], I sanctified them for myself.
Car ils sont à moi, tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël, tant des hommes que des bêtes. Depuis le jour que j’ai frappé tout premier-né dans la terre d’Egypte, je les ai consacrés pour moi;
18 I have taken the Levites [Descendants of United with] instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel [God prevails].
Et j’ai pris les Lévites au lieu de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël;
19 I have given the Levites [Descendants of United with] as a gift to Aaron [Light-bringer] and to his sons from among the children of Israel [God prevails], to do the service of the children of Israel [God prevails] in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel [God prevails]; that there be no plague among the children of Israel [God prevails], when the children of Israel [God prevails] come near to the sanctuary.”
Et j’en ai fait don à Aaron et à ses fils, les tirant du milieu du peuple, pour qu’ils me servent au lieu d’Israël dans le tabernacle d’alliance, et qu’ils prient pour eux, afin qu’il n’y ait pas de plaie sur le peuple, s’il osait approcher du sanctuaire.
20 Moses [Drawn out], and Aaron [Light-bringer], and all the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails] did so to the Levites [Descendants of United with]. According to all that Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out] concerning the Levites [Descendants of United with], so the children of Israel [God prevails] did to them.
Or, Moïse et Aaron et toute la multitude des enfants d’Israël firent touchant les Lévites ce qu’avait ordonné le Seigneur à Moïse:
21 The Levites [Descendants of United with] cleansed sin ·err (the standard goal)· from themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron [Light-bringer] offered them for a wave offering before Adonai; and Aaron [Light-bringer] made atonement for them to cleanse them.
Ils furent donc purifiés, et ils lavèrent leurs vêtements; et Aaron les éleva en la présence du Seigneur, et il pria pour eux,
22 After that, the Levites [Descendants of United with] went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron [Light-bringer], and before his sons: as Adonai had enjoined Moses [Drawn out] concerning the Levites [Descendants of United with], so they did to them.
Afin que purifiés, ils entrassent dans le tabernacle d’alliance pour leurs fonctions devant Aaron et ses fils. Comme le Seigneur avait ordonné à Moïse touchant les Lévites, ainsi il fut lait.
23 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
24 “This is that which belongs to the Levites [Descendants of United with]: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting;
Voici la loi des Lévites: Depuis vingt-cinq ans et au-dessus, ils entreront pour servir dans le tabernacle d’alliance.
25 and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more,
Et lorsqu’ils auront accompli la cinquantième année d’âge, ils cesseront de servir,
26 but shall minister with their brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to perform the duty, and shall do no service. You shall do thus to the Levites [Descendants of United with] concerning their duties.”
Et ils seront les ministres de leurs frères dans le tabernacle d’alliance, pour garder ce qui leur aura été confié; mais les fonctions elles-mêmes, qu’ils ne les fassent point. Tu régleras ainsi pour les Lévites touchant leur garde.
