Numbers 2
1 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out] and to Aaron [Light-bringer], saying,
| וידבר יהוה אל משה ואל אהרן לאמר |
2 “The children of Israel [God prevails] shall encamp every man by his own standard, with the banners of their fathers’ houses: at a distance from the Tent of Meeting shall they encamp around it.”
| איש על דגלו באתת לבית אבתם יחנו בני ישראל מנגד סביב לאהל מועד יחנו |
3 Those who encamp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the standard of the camp of Judah [Praised], according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Judah [Praised] shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
| והחנים קדמה מזרחה דגל מחנה יהודה לצבאתם ונשיא לבני יהודה נחשון בן עמינדב |
4 His division, and those who were counted of them, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--ארבעה ושבעים אלף ושש מאות |
5 Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar [Hire, Reward]: and the prince of the children of Issachar [Hire, Reward] shall be Nethanel the son of Zuar.
| והחנים עליו מטה יששכר ונשיא לבני יששכר נתנאל בן צוער |
6 His division, and those who were counted of it, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיו--ארבעה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות |
7 The tribe of Zebulun [Living together]: and the prince of the children of Zebulun [Living together] shall be Eliab the son of Helon.
| מטה זבולן ונשיא לבני זבולן אליאב בן חלן |
8 His division, and those who were counted of it, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיו--שבעה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות |
9 All who were counted of the camp of Judah [Praised] were one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred, according to their divisions. They shall set out first.
| כל הפקדים למחנה יהודה מאת אלף ושמנים אלף וששת אלפים וארבע מאות--לצבאתם ראשנה יסעו |
10 “On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben [See, a son!] according to their divisions. The prince of the children of Reuben [See, a son!] shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.
| דגל מחנה ראובן תימנה לצבאתם ונשיא לבני ראובן אליצור בן שדיאור |
11 His division, and those who were counted of it, were forty-six thousand five hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיו--ששה וארבעים אלף וחמש מאות |
12 “Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon [Hearing]. The prince of the children of Simeon [Hearing] shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai [My rock almighty].
| והחונם עליו מטה שמעון ונשיא לבני שמעון שלמיאל בן צורישדי |
13 His division, and those who were counted of them, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--תשעה וחמשים אלף ושלש מאות |
14 “The tribe of Gad [Good fortune]: and the prince of the children of Gad [Good fortune] shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.
| ומטה גד ונשיא לבני גד אליסף בן רעואל |
15 His division, and those who were counted of them, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--חמשה וארבעים אלף ושש מאות וחמשים |
16 “All who were counted of the camp of Reuben [See, a son!] were one hundred fifty-one thousand four hundred fifty, according to their armies. They shall set out second.
| כל הפקדים למחנה ראובן מאת אלף ואחד וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות וחמשים--לצבאתם ושנים יסעו |
17 “Then the Tent of Meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites [Descendants of United with] in the middle of the camps. As they encamp, so shall they set out, every man in his place, by their standards.
| ונסע אהל מועד מחנה הלוים בתוך המחנת כאשר יחנו כן יסעו איש על ידו לדגליהם |
18 “On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim [Fruit] according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Ephraim [Fruit] shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.
| דגל מחנה אפרים לצבאתם ימה ונשיא לבני אפרים אלישמע בן עמיהוד |
19 His division, and those who were counted of them, were forty thousand five hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--ארבעים אלף וחמש מאות |
20 “Next to him shall be the tribe of Manasseh [Causing to forget]: and the prince of the children of Manasseh [Causing to forget] shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
| ועליו מטה מנשה ונשיא לבני מנשה גמליאל בן פדהצור |
21 His division, and those who were counted of them, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--שנים ושלשים אלף ומאתים |
22 “The tribe of Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south]: and the prince of the children of Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south] shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.
| ומטה בנימן ונשיא לבני בנימן אבידן בן גדעני |
23 His army, and those who were counted of them, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--חמשה ושלשים אלף וארבע מאות |
24 “All who were counted of the camp of Ephraim [Fruit] were one hundred eight thousand one hundred, according to their divisions. They shall set out third.
| כל הפקדים למחנה אפרים מאת אלף ושמנת אלפים ומאה--לצבאתם ושלשים יסעו |
25 “On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan [He judged] according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Dan [He judged] shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
| דגל מחנה דן צפנה לצבאתם ונשיא לבני דן אחיעזר בן עמישדי |
26 His division, and those who were counted of them, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--שנים וששים אלף ושבע מאות |
27 “Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher [Happy]: and the prince of the children of Asher [Happy] shall be Pagiel the son of Ochran.
| והחנים עליו מטה אשר ונשיא לבני אשר פגעיאל בן עכרן |
28 His division, and those who were counted of them, were forty-one thousand and five hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--אחד וארבעים אלף וחמש מאות |
29 “The tribe of Naphtali [My wrestling]: and the prince of the children of Naphtali [My wrestling] shall be Ahira the son of Enan.
| ומטה נפתלי ונשיא לבני נפתלי אחירע בן עינן |
30 His division, and those who were counted of them, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
| וצבאו ופקדיהם--שלשה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות |
31 “All who were counted of the camp of Dan [He judged] were one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred. They shall set out last by their standards.”
| כל הפקדים למחנה דן--מאת אלף ושבעה וחמשים אלף ושש מאות לאחרנה יסעו לדגליהם |
32 These are those who were counted of the children of Israel [God prevails] by their fathers’ houses. All who were counted of the camps according to their armies were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.
| אלה פקודי בני ישראל לבית אבתם כל פקודי המחנת לצבאתם--שש מאות אלף ושלשת אלפים וחמש מאות וחמשים |
33 But the Levites [Descendants of United with] were not counted among the children of Israel [God prevails]; as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
| והלוים--לא התפקדו בתוך בני ישראל כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
34 Thus the children of Israel [God prevails] did. According to all that Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out], so they encamped by their standards, and so they set out, everyone by their families, according to their fathers’ houses.
| ויעשו בני ישראל ככל אשר צוה יהוה את משה כן חנו לדגליהם וכן נסעו--איש למשפחתיו על בית אבתיו |
