Numbers 14
1 All the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
त्यस रात सारा समुदाय ठुलो आवाज निकालेर रोए ।
2 All the children of Israel [God prevails] murmured against Moses [Drawn out] and against Aaron [Light-bringer]. The whole congregation said to them, “We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], or that we had died in this wilderness!
इस्राएलका सबै मानिसले मोशा र हारूनको आलोचना गरे । सारा समुदायले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “हामी मिश्र देशमा नै मरेको भए पनि हुन्थ्यो अथवा यही मरुभूमिमा नै मरेको भए नि हुन्थ्यो!
3 Why does Adonai bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be captured or killed! Wouldn’t it be better for us to teshuvah ·completely return· into Egypt [Abode of slavery]?”
तरवारद्वारा मर्नलाई परमप्रभुले हामीलाई किन यो भूमिमा ल्याउनुभयो? हाम्रा पत्नीहरू र साना छोराछोरीहरू हताहत हुनेछन् । के हामी मिश्रमा मर्नु नै असल हुँदैनथ्यो र?
4 They said to one another, “Let us make a captain, and let us teshuvah ·completely return· into Egypt [Abode of slavery].”
तिनीहरूले आपसमा भने, “अर्को अगुवा चुनौँ र मिश्रतिर फर्कौं ।”
5 Then Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer] fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails].
अनि मोशा र हारून इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका समुदायका सबै भेलाको सामु घोप्टो परे ।
6 Joshua [Yah Salvation] the son of Nun and Caleb [Dog] the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.
त्यो भूमिको जाँचबुझ गर्न पठाइएकामध्ये केहीमा नूनका छोरा यहोशू र यपुन्नेका छोरा कालेबले आफ्नो लुगा च्याते ।
7 They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails], saying, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.
तिनीहरूले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका सबै समुदायलाई भने, “हामीले घुमेका र जाँचबुझ गरेका मुलुक धेरै राम्रो छ ।
8 If Adonai delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us; a land which flows with milk and honey.
यदि परपप्रभु हामीसँग प्रसन्न हुनुहुन्छ भने, उहाँले हामीलाई यो भूमिमा लानुहुनेछ र यो हामीलाई दिनुहुनेछ । भूमिमा दूध र मह बग्छ ।
9 Only don’t rebel against Adonai, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Adonai is with us. Don’t fear them.”
तर परमप्रभुको विरुद्धमा विद्रोह नगर्नुहोस्, र त्यो भूमिका मानिसहरूसँग नडराउनुहोस्, किनभने तिनीहरू हाम्रा रोटी हुन् । तिनीहरूका सुरक्षा तिनीहरूबाट हटाइनेछ, किनभने परमप्रभु हामीसँग हुनुहुन्छ । तिनीहरूसँग नडराओ ।”
10 But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. The kavod Yahweh ·weighty glory of He sustains breathing· appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel [God prevails].
अनि सारा समुदायले तिनीहरूलाई ढुङ्गाले हान्ने मतो गरे । तर भेट हुने पालमा इस्राएलका सबै मानिसकहाँ परमप्रभुको महिमा देखा पर्यो ।
11 Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not trust in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?
परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, “यी मानिसहरूले मलाई कहिलेसम्म तिरस्कार गर्ने? मैले तिनीहरूका माझ गरेका मेरो शक्तिका चिन्हहरूका बाबजुद पनि तिनीहरू कहिलेसम्म ममा भरोसा गर्न चुक्छन्?
12 I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”
म तिनीहरूलाई विपत्तिले प्रहार गर्नेछु र विनाश गर्नेछु अनि तेरो आफ्नै कुलबाट एउटा जाति बनाउनेछु जुन तिनीहरूभन्दा महान् र शक्तिशाली हुनेछ ।”
13 Moses [Drawn out] said to Adonai, “Then the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] will sh'ma ·hear obey· it; for you brought up this people in your might from among them.
मोशाले परपप्रभुलाई भने, “यदि तपाईंले यसो गर्नुभयो भने, मिश्रीहरूले यसबारे सुन्नेछन्, किनभने तपाईंले यिनीहरूलाई तिनीहरूको शक्तिबाट छुटकारा दिनुभयो ।
14 They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· that you Adonai are in the middle of this people; for you Adonai are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.
तिनीहरूले यो भूमिका मानिसहरूलाई भन्नेछन् । तपाईं परमप्रभु तिनीहरूसँग हुनुहुन्छ भन्ने तिनीहरूले सुनेका छन्, किनभने तपाईंलाई आमनेसामने देखिएको छ । तपाईंको बादल हाम्रा मानिसहरूमाथि खडा छ । तपाईं दिनमा बादलको खामो भएर र रातमा आगोको खामो भएर तिनीहरूको अघिअघि जानुहुन्छ ।
15 Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· the fame of you will speak, saying,
यदि तपाईंले यी मानिसहरूलाई एक जना मानिसलाई झैँ मार्नुभयो भने, तपाईंको प्रसिद्धि सुन्ने जातिहरू बोल्नेछन् र भन्नेछन्,
16 ‘Because Adonai was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.’
'परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूलाई दिन्छु भनी प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभएको मुलुकमा यी मानिसहरूलाई लान नसक्नुभएको हुनाले उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई मरुभूमिमा नै मार्नुभयो ।'
17 Now please let the power of 'Adonay [Lord] be great, according as you have spoken, saying,
म बिन्ती गर्छु, कि तपाईंको महाशक्ति प्रयोग गर्नुहोस् । किनभने तपाईंले भन्नुभएको छ,
18 ‘Adonai is slow to anger, and abundant in chesed ·loving-kindness·, forgiving depravity (moral evil) and rebellious breach of relationship; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the depravity (moral evil) of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.’
'परमप्रभु रिसाउनमा धिमा र विश्वनीयताको करारमा प्रशस्त हुनुहुन्छ । उहाँले अपराध र अधर्महरू क्षमा गर्नुहुन्छ । उहाँले तिनीहरूका सन्तानहरूमाथि तेस्रो र चौथो पुस्तासम्म पुर्खाहरूका दण्ड ल्याउनुहुँदा उहाँले दोषीहरूलाई कुनै पनि हालतमा साफ पार्नुहुन्छ ।'
19 Please pardon the depravity (moral evil) of this people according to the greatness of your chesed ·loving-kindness·, and according as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt [Abode of slavery] even until now.”
म तपाईंसँग बिन्ती गर्छु, कि तपाईंले यी मानिसहरूलाई तिनीहरू मिश्रमा हुँदादेखि अहिलेसम्म सदैव क्षमा गर्नुभएझैँ तपाईंको करारको विश्वसनीयताको महान्ताको कारण यी मानिसहरूका पाप क्षमा गर्नुहोस् ।”
20 Adonai said, “I have pardoned according to your word:
परपप्रभुले भन्नुभयो, “मैले तिनीहरूलाई तेरो बिन्तीअनुसार क्षमा गरेको छु,
21 but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the kavod Yahweh ·weighty glory of He sustains breathing·;
तर जस्तो म जीवित छु र पृथ्वी मेरो महिमाले ढाकिनेछ, मेरो महिमा र
22 because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt [Abode of slavery] and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not sh'ma ·heard obeyed· my voice;
शक्तिका चिन्हहरू देख्ने ती सबै मानिस जसलाई मैले मिश्र देश र मरुभूमिमा गरेँ, तिनीहरूले मलाई दस पटकसम्म परीक्षा गरेका छन् र मेरो आवाज सुनेका छैनन् ।
23 surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it.
यसैले तिनीहरूले निश्चय नै त्यो भूमि देख्नेछैनन् जसबाट मैले तिनीहरूका पुर्खाहरूसित शपथ खाएँ । तिनीहरूमध्ये मलाई घृणा गर्ने कसैले पनि यो देख्नेछैन,
24 But my servant Caleb [Dog], because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.
मेरो दास कालेबबाहेक, किनभने ऊसँग अर्कै आत्मा थियो । त्यसले मलाई पूर्ण रूपमा अनुसरण गरेको छ; म त्यसलाई त्यो जाँचबुझ गर्न गएको भूमिमा ल्याउनेछु । त्यसका सन्तानहरूले अधिकार गर्नेछन् ।
25 Since the Amalekite [Descendant of Man who licks up] and the Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled] dwell in the valley, tomorrow turn, and go into the wilderness by the way to the Sea of Suf [Reed Sea].”
(त्यस बेला बेँसीमा अमालेकीहरू र कनानीहरू बस्थे ।) भोलि फर्की र नर्कटको समुद्र (लाल समुद्र) को बाटो हुँदै मरुभूमितिर जा ।”
26 Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out] and to Aaron [Light-bringer], saying,
परमप्रभुले मोशा र हारूनलाई भन्नुभयो,
27 “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that murmur against me? I have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· the murmurings of the children of Israel [God prevails], which they murmur against me.
“मेरो आलोचना गर्ने यो दुष्ट समुदायलाई मैले कहिलेसम्म सहने? इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले मेरो विरुद्ध गरेका गनगन मैले सुनेको छु ।
28 Tell them, ‘As I live, says Adonai, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you.
तिनीहरूलाई भन्, 'जस्तो म जीवित छु,' परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, 'जस्तो तिमीहरूले मैले सुन्ने गरी भनेका छौ, मैले तिमीहरूलाई त्यस्तै गर्नेछुः
29 Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all who were counted of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me,
मेरो विरुद्ध गनगन गर्ने तिमीहरू सबै, जनगणनामा गन्ती गरिएका तिमीहरू, बिस वर्ष र त्यसभन्दा माथिका मानिसहरू पूरै तिमीहरूका मृत शरीरहरू मरुभूमिमा पड्नेछन् ।
30 surely you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb [Dog] the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua [Yah Salvation] the son of Nun.
यपुन्नेका छोरा लालेब र नूनका छोरा यहोशूबाहेक तिमीहरू कोही पनि निश्चय नै तिमीहरूको वासस्थान बनाउने प्रतिज्ञा गरेको मुलुकमा जानेछैनौ ।
31 But your little ones, that you said should be captured or killed, them I will bring in, and they shall know the land which you have rejected.
हताहत हुन्छन् भनेका तिमीहरूका स-साना बालबच्चाहरूलाई मैले त्यो भूमिमा लानेछु । तिमीहरूले तिरस्कार गरेका भूमि तिनीहरूले उपभोग गर्नेछन् ।
32 But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.
तिमीहरूको सवालमा तिमीहरूका मृत शरीरहरू यही मरुभूमिमा पडिरहनेछन् ।
33 Your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your prostitution, until your dead bodies are consumed in the wilderness.
तिमीहरूका सन्तानहरू मरुभूमिमा चालिस वर्षसम्म गोठालाहरू हुनेछन् । मरुभूमिमा तिमीहरूका लाशहरू अन्त नभएसम्म तिनीहरूले तिमीहरूका विद्रोहका कार्यहरूका नतिजाहरू भोग्नुपर्छ ।
34 After the number of the days in which you spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, you will bear your depravities (moral evils), even forty years, and you will know my alienation.’
तिमीहरूले त्यो भूमिको जाँचबुझ गर्न लगाएका दिनहरूको सङ्ख्या अर्थात् चालिस दिनजस्तै, तिमीहरूले आफ्नो पापको नतिजाहरू चालिस वर्षसम्म अर्थात् एक दिनको एक वर्ष भोग्नुपर्छ र मेरो विरोध गर्नु कस्तो हुन्छ भनी तिमीहरूले थाहा पाउनुपर्छ ।
35 I, Adonai, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation, who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”
म परमप्रभुले बोलेको हुँ । मेरो विरुद्ध खडा हुने यो सबै दुष्ट समुदायमाथि म निश्चय नै यो गर्नेछु । तिनीहरू पूर्ण रूपमा नष्ट हुनेछन् र तिनीहरू यहीँ मर्नेछन् ।”
36 The men, whom Moses [Drawn out] sent to spy out the land, who teshuvah ·completely returned·, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,
यसैले मोशाले भूमिको जासूस गर्न पठाएकाहरू जो फर्के र जसले भूमिबारे खराब खबर फैलाएर मोशा विरुद्ध सारा समुदायलाई गनगन गर्न लगाउने मानिसहरू थिए अर्थात्
37 even those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Adonai.
भूमिबारे खराब खबर ल्याउने यी मानिसहरूलाई प्रहार गरियो र तिनीहरू परमप्रभुको सामु महामारीले मरे ।
38 But Joshua [Yah Salvation] the son of Nun, and Caleb [Dog] the son of Jephunneh, remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.
भूमिको जासूस गर्न गएकाहरूमध्ये नूनका छोरा यहोशू र यपुन्नेका छोरा कालेब मात्र जीवित रहे ।
39 Moses [Drawn out] told these words to all the children of Israel [God prevails], and the people mourned greatly.
जब मोशाले इस्राएलका मानिसलाई यी कुराहरू बताए, तिनीहरूले गम्भीर रूपमा विलाप गरे ।
40 They rose up early in the morning, and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Adonai has promised: for we have sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)·.”
तिनीहरू बिहान सबेरै उठे र पहाडको चुचुरोमा गए, र भने, “हेर, हामी यहाँ छौँ, र हामी परमप्रभुले प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभएको ठाउँतिर जानेछौँ, किनभने हामीले पाप गरेका छौँ ।”
41 Moses [Drawn out] said, “Why are you disobeying the order of Adonai? You shall not succeed!
तर मोशाले भने, “तिमीहरू परमप्रभुको आज्ञा किन तोड्छौ? तिमीहरू सफल हुनेछेनौ ।
42 Don’t go up, for Adonai is not among you; that you not be struck down before your enemies.
नजाओ, किनभने तिमीहरूलाई तिमीहरूका शत्रुहरूबाट पराजित हुनलाई बचाउन परमप्रभु तिमीहरूसँग हुनुहुन्न ।
43 For there the Amalekite [Descendant of Man who licks up] and the Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled] are before you, and you shall fall by the sword, because you turned back from following Adonai, therefore Adonai will not be with you.”
त्यहाँ अमालेकीहरू र कनानीहरू छन्, र तिमीहरू तरवारद्वारा मर्नेछौ, किनभने तिमीहरू परमप्रभुलाई अनुसरण गर्नबाट तर्किएका छौ । यसैले उहाँ तिमीहरूसँग हुनुहुनेछैन ।”
44 But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Adonai’s covenant and Moses [Drawn out] didn’t depart out of the camp.
तर तिनीहरूले पहाडी देशतिर जाने दम्भ गरे; तथापि, न त मोशा न त परमप्रभुको सन्दूकले छाउनी छोडे ।
45 Then the Amalekites [Descendants of Man who licks up] came down, and the Canaanites [Descendants of Humbled] who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down, even to Hormah.
त्यसपछि अमालेकीहरू ओर्लेर आए, र कनानीहरू पनि जो ती पहाडहरूमा बस्थे । तिनीहरूले इस्राएलीहरूलाई आक्रमण गरे र तिनीहरूलाई होर्मासम्म नै खेदेर पराजित गरे ।
