Isaiah 9
1 But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun [Living together] and the land of Naphtali [My wrestling]; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan [Descender], Galilee [District, Circuit] of the nations.
Dans le premier temps a été allégée la terre de Zabulon, ainsi que la terre de Nephthali; et dans le dernier, a été aggravée la voie de la mer, au-delà du Jourdain, la voie de la Galilée des nations.
2 The people living in darkness have seen a great light. Those who lived in the land of the shadow of death, on them the light has shined.
Le peuple qui marchait dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière; pour ceux qui habitaient dans la région de l’ombre de la mort, une lumière s’est levée.
3 You have multiplied the nation. You have increased their joy. They rejoice before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the plunder.
Vous avez augmenté la nation et vous n’avez pas agrandi sa joie. Ils se réjouiront devant vous, comme ceux qui se réjouissent dans la moisson; et comme exultent les vainqueurs après le butin pris, quand ils partagent les dépouilles.
4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian [Strife].
Car le joug de son fardeau, la verge de son épaule, et le sceptre de son exacteur, vous en avez triomphé, comme à la journée de Madian.
5 For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
Parce que tout pillage fait dans le tumulte, et tout vêtement souillé de sang sera en combustion et la pâture du feu.
6 For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Peleh-Yo 'etz [Wonderful-Counselor], El Gibbor [Mighty God], Avi-'Ad [Everlasting Father], Sar-Shalom [Prince of Peace].
Car UN ENFANT NOUS EST NÉ, et un fils nous a été donné; et sa principauté est sur son épaule, et son nom sera appelé Admirable, Conseiller, Dieu, Fort, Père du siècle à venir. Prince de la paix.
7 The increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David [Beloved]’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with mishpat ·justice· and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] will perform this.
Son empire s’accroîtra et la paix n’aura pas de fin; sur le trône de David et sur son royaume il s’assiéra pour raffermir et le fortifier dans le jugement et la justice, dès maintenant à tout jamais. Le zèle du Seigneur des armées fera cela.
8 'Adonay [Lord] sent a word into Jacob [Supplanter], and it falls on Israel [God prevails].
Le Seigneur a envoyé une parole dans Jacob, et elle est tombée dans Israël.
9 All the people will know, including Ephraim [Fruit] and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,
Et tout le peuple d’Ephraïm le saura de même que ceux qui habitent Samarie, qui disent dans l’orgueil et l’enflure du cœur:
10 “The bricks have fallen, but we will build with cut stone. The sycamore fig trees have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”
Les briques sont tombées; mais nous bâtirons avec des pierres de taille; on a coupé nos sycomores, nous y substituerons des cèdres.
11 Therefore Adonai will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,
Et le Seigneur élèvera les ennemis de Rasin sur lui, et il fera venir tous ses ennemis en foule:
12 The Syrians in front, and the Philistines [To roll in dust (As an insult)] behind; and they will devour Israel [God prevails] with open mouth. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
La Syrie de l’Orient, les Philistins de l’Occident; et ils dévoreront Israël de toute leur bouche. Avec toutes ces choses sa fureur n’a pas été détournée, mais sa main est encore étendue;
13 Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies].
Et le peuple n’est pas revenu vers celui qui le frappait, et ils n’ont pas recherché le Seigneur des armées.
14 Therefore Adonai will cut off from Israel [God prevails] head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day.
Et le Seigneur retranchera d’Israël, dans un même jour, la tête et la queue, celui qui plie et celui qui réfrène.
15 The elder and the honorable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.
Le vieillard et l’homme en dignité, c’est la tête; et le prophète qui enseigne le mensonge, c’est la queue.
16 For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.
Et ceux qui appellent ce peuple heureux seront des séducteurs; et ceux qui sont appelés heureux seront précipités.
17 Therefore 'Adonay [Lord] will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have racham ·compassionate merciful love· on their orphans and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
À cause de cela le Seigneur ne mettera pas sa joie dans ses jeunes hommes; et de ses orphelins, et de ses veuves, il n’aura pas pitié; parce que tous sont hypocrites et méchants, et que toute bouche a parlé folie. Avec toutes ces choses sa fureur n’a pas été détournée, mais sa main est encore étendue.
18 For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
Car comme un feu, l’impiété s’est allumée, et elle dévorera la ronce et l’épine; et elle s’embrasera comme dans l’épaisseur d’une forêt; et une fumée formera des tourbillons en s’élevant.
19 Through Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies]’ wrath, the land is burned up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
Par la colère du Seigneur des armées, la terre a été bouleversée, et le peuple sera comme la pâture du feu; l’homme n’épargnera pas son frère.
20 One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
Et il se tournera à droite et il aura faim; et il mangera en allant à gauche, et il ne sera pas rassasié; chacun dévorera la chair de son bras: Manassé dévorera Ephraïm, et Ephraïm Manassé; et eux ensemble seront contre Juda.
21 Manasseh [Causing to forget], Ephraim [Fruit]; and Ephraim [Fruit], Manasseh [Causing to forget]; and they together shall be against Judah [Praised]. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Avec toutes ces choses sa fureur n’a pas été détournée, mais sa main est encore étendue.
