Exodus 5
1 Afterward Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer] came, and said to Pharaoh, “This is what Yahweh, Elohim Isra'el [He sustains breathing, God of God prevails], says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”
೧ಬಳಿಕ ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರು ಫರೋಹನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು, ನನ್ನ ಜನರು ನನಗಾಗಿ ಅರಣ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಜಾತ್ರೆ ನಡೆಸುವಂತೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಅಂದರು.
2 Pharaoh said, “Who is Adonai, that I should sh'ma ·hear obey· his voice to let Israel [God prevails] go? I don’t know Adonai, and moreover I will not let Israel [God prevails] go.”
೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಫರೋಹನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬುವವನು ಯಾರು? ನಾನು ಅವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಹೋಗಗೊಡಿಸುವುದೇತಕ್ಕೆ? ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯಾರೋ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲು ನಾನು ಬಿಡುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಅಂದನು.
3 They said, “The God of the Hebrews [Immigrants] has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Adonai, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”
೩ಆಗ ಅವರು, “ಇಬ್ರಿಯರ ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡನು. ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾದರೆ ನಾವು ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ದಿನ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಡಿ ಬರುವೆವು. ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯಿಂದಾದರೂ, ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದಾದರೂ ಸಂಹಾರಮಾಡುವನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
4 The king of Egypt [Abode of slavery] said to them, “Why do you, Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer], take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”
೪ಐಗುಪ್ತರ ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರೇ, ಈ ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡದಂತೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ? ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಿಟ್ಟೀ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
5 Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”
೫ಫರೋಹನು, “ಇಬ್ರಿಯರು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಿಟ್ಟೀ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡದಂತೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದನು.
6 The same day Pharaoh enjoined the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
೬ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಫರೋಹನು ಬಿಟ್ಟೀಮಾಡಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ,
7 “You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
೭“ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ನೀವು ಆ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬಾರದು. ಅವರೇ ಹೋಗಿ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಶೇಖರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ,
8 The number of the bricks, which they made before, you require from them. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
೮ಆದರೂ ಅವರು ಈವರೆಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೂ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು. ಅವರು ಮೈಗಳ್ಳರೇ, ಆದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಅವರು, ‘ನಾವು ಹೋಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಡಿ ಬರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
9 Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor therein; and don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”
೯ಈ ಜನರು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಗಮನ ಕೊಡದಂತೆ ನೀವು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಹೊರಿಸಿರಿ. ಅವರು ದುಡಿಯಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
10 The taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you straw.
೧೦ಆಗ ಬಿಟ್ಟೀಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸುವವರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮಗೆ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬಾರದೆಂದು ಫರೋಹನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
11 Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.’”
೧೧ನಿಮಗೆ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರಕುವುದೋ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ನೀವೇ ಹೋಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಆದರೂ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೂ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery] to gather stubble for straw.
೧೨ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಜನರು ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚದರಿಹೋಗಿ ಹುಡುಕತೊಡಗಿದರು.
13 The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”
೧೩ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟೀ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಸುವವರು, “ನಿಮಗೆ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನದ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಅದೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲೇ ಮುಗಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವಸರ ಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
14 The officers of the children of Israel [God prevails], whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, “Why haven’t you fulfilled your chok ·statute· quote both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?”
೧೪ಫರೋಹನ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತಾವೇ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಮೊದಲು ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಯಾಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರು.
15 Then the officers of the children of Israel [God prevails] came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants?
೧೫ಹೀಗಿರಲು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕರು ಫರೋಹನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಏಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಿರಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀ?
16 No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the sin ·err (from the standard goal)· is in your own people.”
೧೬ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸರಿಗೆ, ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕೊಡದೆ ‘ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರಿ!’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಪಾಪಕಾರ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಗೋಳಾಡಿದರು.
17 But he said, “You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to Adonai.’
೧೭ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ನೀವು ಮೈಗಳ್ಳರು, ನೀವು ಮೈಗಳ್ಳರಾದ ಕಾರಣ, ‘ನಾವು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಬರಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
18 Go therefore now, and work, for no straw shall be given to you, yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”
೧೮ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ನಡೆಯಿರಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪದೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು” ಅಂದನು.
19 The officers of the children of Israel [God prevails] saw that they were in trouble, when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”
೧೯ದಿನ ದಿನವೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಬಾರದೆಂಬ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕರು ತಾವು ದುರವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಿವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
20 They met Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer], who stood in the way, as they came out from Pharaoh:
೨೦ಅವರು ಫರೋಹನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ
21 and they said to them, “May Adonai look at you, and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us.”
೨೧ಮೋಶೆ ಹಾಗು ಆರೋನರಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸಲಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಫರೋಹನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅಸಹ್ಯಪಡುವಂತೆ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿರುವಿರಿ. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸಂಹಾರಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಕೈಗೆ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀರಿ” ಅಂದರು. “ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ತಪ್ಪನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿ ತಕ್ಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
22 Moses [Drawn out] teshuvah ·completely returned· to Adonai, and said, “Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?
೨೨ಆಗ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು, “ಸ್ವಾಮೀ, ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೀಯಲ್ಲಾ? ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದು ಯಾಕೆ?
23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people; and you have not rescued your people at all.”
೨೩ನಾನು ಫರೋಹನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅವನು ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕೇಡನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಮಾತ್ರವೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
