< Exodus 17 >

1 All the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails] traveled from the wilderness of Cin [Clay], by their journeys, according to Adonai’s order, and encamped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.
Alò, tout asanble a fis Israël yo te vwayaje pazapa vè dezè Sin nan. Selon kòmand a SENYÈ a, yo te fè kan nan Rephidim, men pa t gen dlo pou moun yo bwè.
2 Therefore the people quarreled with Moses [Drawn out], and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses [Drawn out] said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test Adonai?”
Akoz sa, pèp la te chache kont avèk Moïse. Yo te di: “Bannou dlo pou nou kab bwè.” Konsa, Moïse te di: “Poukisa nou chache kont avè m? Poukisa nou pase SENYÈ a a leprèv?”
3 The people were thirsty for water there; and the people murmured against Moses [Drawn out], and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt [Abode of slavery], to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”
4 Moses [Drawn out] cried to Adonai, saying, “What shall I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
Alò Moïse te kriye a SENYÈ a. Li te di: “Kisa pou m ta fè ak pèp sa a? Yon ti kras ankò e y ap lapide mwen.”
5 Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Israel [God prevails] with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb [Desert]. You shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses [Drawn out] did so in the sight of the elders of Israel [God prevails].
Gade byen, Mwen va kanpe devan ou sou wòch Horeb la. Konsa, Moïse te fè sa devan zye a ansyen Israël yo.
7 He called the name of the place Massah [Testing], and Meribah [Quarreling], because the children of Israel [God prevails] quarreled, and because they tested Adonai, saying, “Is Adonai among us, or not?”
Li te nonmen kote a Massa ak Meriba, akoz kont ke fis Israël yo te genyen, e akoz ke yo te pase SENYÈ a a leprèv lè yo te di: “Èske SENYÈ a pami nou, wi oswa non?”
8 Then Amalek [Man who licks up] came and fought with Israel [God prevails] in Rephidim.
Alò, Amalèk te vin goumen kont Israël nan Rephidim.
9 Moses [Drawn out] said to Joshua [Yah Salvation], “Choose men for us, and go out, fight with Amalek [Man who licks up]. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with God’s rod in my hand.”
Konsa, Moïse te di a Josué: “Chwazi mesye yo pou nou, e sòti pou batay kont Amalèk. Demen mwen va vin estasyone Mwen menm nan do kolin nan avèk baton a Bondye a nan men m.”
10 So Joshua [Yah Salvation] did as Moses [Drawn out] had told him, and fought with Amalek [Man who licks up]; and Moses [Drawn out], Aaron [Light-bringer], and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
Josué te fè jan Moïse te mande li fè a, e li te goumen kont Amalèk. Epi Moïse, Aaron, avèk Hur te monte anwo tèt do kolin nan.
11 When Moses [Drawn out] held up his hand, Israel [God prevails] prevailed. When he let down his hand, Amalek [Man who licks up] prevailed.
Konsa, li te vin rive ke lè Moïse te leve men l, pèp Israël la te vin genyen, men lè li te kite men l desann, Amalèk te vin genyen.
12 But Moses [Drawn out]’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron [Light-bringer] and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until sunset.
Men men Moïse te vin lou. Pou sa a, yo te pran yon wòch, yo te mete li anba li, e li te chita sou li. Aaron avèk Hur te bay men li soutyen, youn sou yon bò, e lòt la sou lòt bò a. Konsa men li te rete dyanm jis rive lè solèy la te vin kouche.
13 Joshua [Yah Salvation] defeated Amalek [Man who licks up] and his people with the edge of the sword.
Epi Josué te bat Amalèk avèk pèp li a avèk lam nepe.
14 Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua [Yah Salvation]: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek [Man who licks up] from under the sky.”
Alò SENYÈ a te di a Moïse: “Ekri sa a nan yon liv pou gen kòm souvni, e repete li a Josué, ke Mwen va konplètman efase memwa Amalèk soti anba syèl la.”
15 Moses [Drawn out] built an altar, and called its name Adonai our Banner.
Moïse te bati yon lotèl e te nonmen li: “SENYÈ a Se Drapo mwen.”
16 He said, “Yah has sworn: ‘Adonai will have war with Amalek [Man who licks up] from generation to generation.’”
Li te di: “SENYÈ a te sèmante: SENYÈ a va fè lagè kont Amalèk de jenerasyon an jenerasyon.”
