Zephaniah 2
1 Search yourselves; yea, search, O nation without shame!
Reúnanse, sí, reúnanse, nación que no tiene vergüenza,
2 Before the decree bring forth, Before the day come upon you like chaff; Before the fierce anger of Jehovah come upon you, Before the day of the anger of Jehovah come upon you.
antes del tiempo señalado en que el día pasa como la paja, antes de que venga sobre ustedes el furor de Yahvé, antes de que venga sobre ustedes el día de la ira de Yahvé.
3 Seek ye Jehovah, all ye lowly of the land, Ye, who obey his commands! Seek righteousness; seek lowliness; It may be that ye shall be hid in the day of the anger of Jehovah.
Buscad a Yahvé, todos los humildes de la tierra, que habéis guardado sus ordenanzas. Busquen la justicia. Busquen la humildad. Puede ser que ustedes queden ocultos en el día de la ira de Yahvé.
4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, And Askelon a desolation; Ashdod shall be driven out at noonday, And Ekron shall be rooted up.
Porque Gaza será abandonada, y Ascalón una desolación. Expulsarán a Asdod al mediodía, y Ecrón será desarraigada.
5 Woe to the inhabitants of the sea-coasts, the nation of the Cherethites! This is the word of Jehovah against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines: “I will destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.”
¡Ay de los habitantes de la costa del mar, de la nación de los queretanos! La palabra de Yahvé está contra ti, Canaán, la tierra de los filisteos. Te destruiré hasta que no quede ningún habitante.
6 And the sea-coast shall be pastures full of habitations for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
La costa del mar será de pastos, con cabañas para los pastores y rebaños.
7 The coast shall be for the residue of the house of Judah; Thereon shall they feed; In the houses of Askelon shall they lie down in the evening; For Jehovah their God will look upon them, and bring back their captives.
La costa será para el resto de la casa de Judá. Encontrarán pastos. En las casas de Ascalón se acostarán al atardecer, porque Yahvé, su Dios, los visitará y los restaurará.
8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, And the revilings of the sons of Ammon, With which they have reproached my people, And exalted themselves against their borders.
He oído la afrenta de Moab y las injurias de los hijos de Amón, con las que han afrentado a mi pueblo y se han engrandecido contra su frontera.
9 Therefore, as I live, saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Moab shall be as Sodom, And the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, A possession for thorns, and a pit for salt, and a perpetual desolation. The residue of my people shall spoil them, And the remainder of my nation shall possess them.
Por eso, vivo yo, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, ciertamente Moab será como Sodoma, y los hijos de Amón como Gomorra, una posesión de ortigas y pozos de sal, y una desolación perpetua. El remanente de mi pueblo los saqueará, y los sobrevivientes de mi nación los heredarán.
10 This shall come upon them for their pride, Because they have uttered reproaches, and exalted themselves against the people of Jehovah of hosts.
Esto lo tendrán por su soberbia, porque se han reprochado y engrandecido contra el pueblo de Yahvé de los Ejércitos.
11 Jehovah will be terrible against them; For he will destroy all the gods of the earth; And before him shall worship, every one from his place, All the islands of the nations.
Yahvé se mostrará imponente ante ellos, porque hará desaparecer a todos los dioses de la tierra. Los hombres lo adorarán, cada uno desde su lugar, hasta todas las costas de las naciones.
12 Ye, also, O Ethiopians! Ye shall be slain by my sword!
También ustedes, los cusitas, serán muertos por mi espada.
13 He will also stretch out his hand against the North, And destroy Assyria, And make Nineveh a desolation, Even dry like a desert.
Extenderá su mano contra el norte, destruirá a Asiria y convertirá a Nínive en una desolación, seca como el desierto.
14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, Yea, all the tribes of wild beasts; The pelican and the hedgehog shall lodge in the capitals of her pillars; A cry shall resound in the window; Desolation shall be upon the threshold; For her cedar-work shall be laid bare.
En medio de ella se posarán rebaños, toda clase de animales. El pelícano y el puercoespín se alojarán en sus capiteles. Sus llamadas resonarán a través de las ventanas. La desolación estará en los umbrales, pues ha dejado al descubierto las vigas de cedro.
15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt in security, That said in her heart, “I, and none besides me!” Now is she become a desolation, a resting-place for wild beasts! Every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
Esta es la ciudad alegre que vivía despreocupada, que decía en su corazón: “Yo soy, y no hay nadie más que yo”. ¡Cómo se ha convertido en una desolación, en un lugar donde se acuestan los animales! Todos los que pasen por ella sisearán y agitarán sus puños.
