Psalms 91

1 He who sitteth under the shelter of the Most High Maketh his abode in the shadow of the Almighty.

Kdor prebiva na skrivnem kraju Najvišjega, bo ostal pod senco Vsemogočnega.

2 I say to the LORD, Thou art my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.

Rekel bom o Gospodu: » On je moje zatočišče in moja trdnjava; moj Bog, vanj bom zaupal.«

3 Surely he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the wasting pestilence;

Zagotovo te bo osvobodil pred ptičarjevo zanko in pred ogabno kužno boleznijo.

4 He will cover thee with his feathers, And under his wings shalt thou find refuge; His faithfulness shall be thy shield and buckler.

Pokril te bo s svojim perjem in pod njegovimi perutmi boš zaupal. Njegova resnica bo tvoj ščit in oklep.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night, Nor of the arrow that flieth by day;

Ne boš se bal zaradi strahote ponoči niti zaradi puščice, ki leti podnevi,

6 Nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor of the plague that destroyeth at noonday.

niti zaradi kužne bolezni, ki hodi v temi niti zaradi uničenja, ki pustoši opoldan.

7 A thousand shall fall by thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; But thee it shall not touch.

Tisoč jih bo padlo na tvoji strani in deset tisoč na tvoji desnici, toda tebi se to ne bo približalo.

8 Thou shalt only behold with thine eyes, And see the recompense of the wicked.

Samo s svojimi očmi boš gledal in videl nagrado zlobnih.

9 Because thou hast made the LORD thy refuge, And the Most High thy habitation,

Ker si naredil Gospoda, ki je moje zatočišče, celó Najvišjega, [za] svoje prebivališče,

10 No evil shall befall thee, Nor any plague come near thy dwelling.

te nobeno zlo ne zadene niti nobena nadloga ne bo prišla blizu tvojega prebivališča.

11 For he will give his angels charge over thee, To guard thee in all thy ways.

Kajti svojim angelom bo zapovedal nad teboj, da te varujejo na vseh tvojih poteh.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Nosili te bodo na svojih rokah, da ne bi svojega stopala treščil ob kamen.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; The young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot.

Stopal boš na leva in gada; mladega leva in zmaja boš pomendral pod stopali.

14 “Because he loveth me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.

Ker je svojo ljubezen naravnal name, zato ga bom osvobodil. Postavil ga bom visoko, ker je spoznal moje ime.

15 When he calleth upon me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and bring him to honor.

Klical bo k meni in odgovoril mu bom. Z njim bom v stiski, osvobodil ga bom in mu izkazal čast.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.”

Zadovoljil ga bom z dolgim življenjem in mu pokazal svojo rešitev duše.
