Psalms 91
1 He who sitteth under the shelter of the Most High Maketh his abode in the shadow of the Almighty.
Tu che abiti al riparo dell'Altissimo e dimori all'ombra dell'Onnipotente,
2 I say to the LORD, Thou art my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.
dì al Signore: «Mio rifugio e mia fortezza, mio Dio, in cui confido».
3 Surely he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the wasting pestilence;
Egli ti libererà dal laccio del cacciatore, dalla peste che distrugge.
4 He will cover thee with his feathers, And under his wings shalt thou find refuge; His faithfulness shall be thy shield and buckler.
Ti coprirà con le sue penne sotto le sue ali troverai rifugio.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night, Nor of the arrow that flieth by day;
La sua fedeltà ti sarà scudo e corazza; non temerai i terrori della notte né la freccia che vola di giorno,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor of the plague that destroyeth at noonday.
la peste che vaga nelle tenebre, lo sterminio che devasta a mezzogiorno.
7 A thousand shall fall by thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; But thee it shall not touch.
Mille cadranno al tuo fianco e diecimila alla tua destra; ma nulla ti potrà colpire.
8 Thou shalt only behold with thine eyes, And see the recompense of the wicked.
Solo che tu guardi, con i tuoi occhi vedrai il castigo degli empi.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD thy refuge, And the Most High thy habitation,
Poiché tuo rifugio è il Signore e hai fatto dell'Altissimo la tua dimora,
10 No evil shall befall thee, Nor any plague come near thy dwelling.
non ti potrà colpire la sventura, nessun colpo cadrà sulla tua tenda.
11 For he will give his angels charge over thee, To guard thee in all thy ways.
Egli darà ordine ai suoi angeli di custodirti in tutti i tuoi passi.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Sulle loro mani ti porteranno perché non inciampi nella pietra il tuo piede.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; The young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot.
Camminerai su aspidi e vipere, schiaccerai leoni e draghi.
14 “Because he loveth me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.
Lo salverò, perché a me si è affidato; lo esalterò, perché ha conosciuto il mio nome.
15 When he calleth upon me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and bring him to honor.
Mi invocherà e gli darò risposta; presso di lui sarò nella sventura, lo salverò e lo renderò glorioso.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.”
Lo sazierò di lunghi giorni e gli mostrerò la mia salvezza.
