< Psalms 83 >

1 “A psalm of Asaph.” O God! keep not silence! Hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God!
Una canción. Un salmo de Asaf. Dios, no guardes silencio. No te quedes callado, y no te quedes quieto, Dios.
2 For, lo! thine enemies roar, And they who hate thee lift up their heads.
Porque, he aquí, tus enemigos están agitados. Los que te odian han levantado la cabeza.
3 For they form secret plots against thy people, And consult together against thy chosen ones.
Conspiran con astucia contra tu pueblo. Conspiran contra tus seres queridos.
4 “Come,” say they, “let us blot them out from the number of the nations, That the name of Israel may no more be remembered!”
“Vamos”, dicen, “destruyámoslos como nación, para que el nombre de Israel no sea más recordado”.
5 With one consent they consult together, Against thee do they form a league, —
Porque han conspirado juntos con una sola mente. Forman una alianza contra ti.
6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Of Moab and the Hagarenes,
Las tiendas de Edom y de los ismaelitas; Moab, y los Hagritas;
7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, The Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre.
Gebal, Amón y Amalec; Filistea con los habitantes de Tiro;
8 The Assyrians also are joined with them; They lend their strength to the children of Lot.
También Asiria se une a ellos. Han ayudado a los hijos de Lot. (Selah)
9 Do to them as to the Midianites, As to Sisera, as to Jabin at the brook Kison,
Haz con ellos lo que hiciste con Madián, como a Sísara, como a Jabín, en el río Cisón;
10 Who perished at Endor, And were trampled like dung to the earth.
que perecieron en Endor, que se convirtió en estiércol para la tierra.
11 Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; Yea, all their princes as Zeba and Zalmunna!
Haz que sus nobles sean como Oreb y Zeeb, sí, todos sus príncipes como Zebah y Zalmunna,
12 Who say, “Let us seize on God's habitations!”
que dijo: “Tomemos posesión de las tierras de pastoreo de Dios”.
13 Make them, O my God! like whirling chaff; Like stubble before the wind!
Dios mío, haz que sean como una planta rodadora, como paja ante el viento.
14 As fire consumeth the forest, And as flame setteth the mountains in a blaze,
Como el fuego que quema el bosque, como la llama que incendia las montañas,
15 So pursue them with thy tempest, And terrify them with thy storm!
así que persíguelos con tu tempestad, y aterrorízalos con tu tormenta.
16 Cover their faces with shame, That they may seek thy name, O LORD!
Llena sus rostros de confusión, para que busquen tu nombre, Yahvé.
17 Let them be confounded! Yea, let them be put to shame, and perish!
Que queden desilusionados y consternados para siempre. Sí, que se confundan y perezcan;
18 That they may know that thy name alone is Jehovah; That thou art the Most High over all the earth.
para que sepan que sólo tú, cuyo nombre es Yahvé, eres el Altísimo sobre toda la tierra.
