Psalms 73
1 “BOOK III. A psalm of Asaph.” Truly God is good to Israel, —To those who are pure in heart.
Ciertamente ʼElohim es bueno con Israel, Con los que son puros de corazón.
2 Yet my feet almost gave way; My steps had well nigh slipped:
En cuanto a mí, casi se deslizan mis pies. Por poco resbalan mis pasos.
3 For I was envious of the proud, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Porque tuve envidia de los arrogantes Al ver la prosperidad de los perversos.
4 For they have no pains even to their death; Their bodies are in full health.
Porque no hay dolores en su muerte, Y su cuerpo está lleno de grasa.
5 They have not the woes of other men, Neither are they smitten like other men.
No pasan trabajos como los otros hombres, Ni son plagados como los demás.
6 Therefore pride encircleth their neck as a collar; Violence covereth them as a garment.
Por tanto la arrogancia es su collar. Los envuelve un manto de violencia.
7 From their bosom issueth their iniquity; The designs of their hearts burst forth.
Los ojos se les saltan por la gordura, Y logran con creces los deseos del corazón.
8 They mock, and speak of malicious oppression; Their words are haughty;
Se burlan y hablan perversamente de opresión. Hablan con altanería.
9 They stretch forth their mouth to the heavens, And their tongue goeth through the earth;
Ponen su boca hacia el cielo, Pero su boca desfila por la tierra.
10 Therefore his people walk in their ways, And there drink from full fountains.
Por tanto su pueblo vuelve a este lugar, Y bebe aguas en abundancia.
11 And they say, “How doth God know? How can there be knowledge with the Most High?”
Y dicen: ¿Cómo puede ʼEL saber? ¿Hay conocimiento en ʼElyón?
12 Behold these are the ungodly! Yet they are ever prosperous; they heap up riches.
Ciertamente así son los perversos, Y fácilmente aumentan su riqueza.
13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain; In vain have I washed my hands in innocence.
En verdad, en vano guardé puro mi corazón, Y lavé mis manos en inocencia.
14 For every day have I been smitten; Every morn have I been chastened.
Pues soy azotado todo el día, Y castigado cada mañana.
15 If I should resolve to speak like them, Surely I should be treacherous to the family of thy children.
Si dijera yo: Hablaré como ellos, Claro que traicionaría a la generación de tus hijos.
16 So, when I studied to know this, It was painful to my eyes;
Cuando meditaba para entender esto, Fue ardua tarea para mí.
17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of God, And considered what was their end.
Hasta que al entrar en el Santuario de ʼEL Percibí el fin de ellos.
18 Behold! thou hast set them on slippery places; Thou castest them down into unseen pits.
Ciertamente los colocaste en deslizaderos, Los lanzaste a la destrucción.
19 How are they brought to desolation in a moment, And utterly consumed with sudden destruction!
¡Cómo son destruidos de repente! ¡Son absolutamente consumidos por repentinos terrores!
20 As a dream when one awaketh, Thou, O Lord! when thou awakest, wilt make their vain show a derision.
Como cuando uno despierta de un sueño, Así ʼAdonay, cuando Tú despiertes, Despreciarás su apariencia.
21 When my heart was vexed And I was pierced in my reins,
Cuando mi corazón se amargaba Y me sentía traspasado,
22 Then was I stupid and without understanding; I was like one of the brutes before thee.
Era entonces torpe e ignorante, Como una bestia ante Ti.
23 Yet am I ever under thy care; By my right hand thou dost hold me up.
Sin embargo, yo siempre estoy contigo. Tú sostienes mi mano derecha.
24 Thou wilt guide me with thy counsel, And at last receive me in glory.
Me guiarás con tu consejo, Y después me recibirás en gloria.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee, And whom on earth do I love in comparison with thee?
¿A quién tengo yo en el cielo sino a Ti? Y fuera de Ti, nada deseo en la tierra.
26 Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Mi cuerpo y mi corazón desfallecen, Pero ʼElohim es la Fuerza de mi corazón Y mi Porción para siempre.
27 For, lo! they who are far from thee perish; Thou destroyest all who estrange themselves from thee.
Porque ciertamente los que se alejan de Ti perecerán. Tú destruyes a aquellos que son infieles a Ti.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, That I may declare all thy works.
En cuanto a mí, la cercanía de ʼElohim es mi dicha. En ʼAdonay Yavé está mi refugio, Para que cuente todas tus obras.
