Psalms 72
1 “For Solomon.” To the king, O God! give thy justice, And to the son of a king thy righteousness!
Von Salomo. Gott, dein richterlich Walten verleihe dem König
2 Yea! he shall judge thy people with equity, And thine oppressed ones with justice.
daß er dein Volk mit Gerechtigkeit richte und deine Elenden nach dem Recht!
3 For the mountains shall bring forth peace to the people, And the hills, through righteousness.
Laß die Berge dem Volke Frieden tragen und die Hügel sich kleiden in Gerechtigkeit!
4 He shall defend the oppressed of the people; He shall save the needy, And break in pieces the oppressor.
Er schaffe Recht den Elenden im Volk, er helfe den armen Leuten und zertrete den Bedrücker.
5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon shall endure, From generation to generation.
Möge er leben, solange die Sonne scheint und der Mond (uns leuchtet), von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht!
6 He shall be like rain descending on the mown field, —Like showers which water the earth.
Er möge sein wie Regen für frischgemähte Wiesen, wie Regenschauer, die das Land besprengen!
7 In his days shall the righteous flourish, And great shall be their prosperity, as long as the moon shall endure.
In seinen Tagen möge der Gerechte blühen und Friede in Fülle bestehn, bis kein Mond mehr scheint.
8 He shall have dominion from sea to sea, And from the river to the ends of the earth.
Er herrsche von Meer zu Meer und vom Euphratstrom bis hin an die Enden der Erde!
9 They that dwell in the desert shall bow before him, And his enemies shall lick the dust.
Vor ihm müssen die Steppenvölker die Knie beugen und seine Feinde den Staub lecken;
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents; The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts;
die Könige von Tharsis und den Meeresländern müssen Geschenke ihm bringen, die Herrscher von Saba und Seba Abgaben entrichten;
11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him; All nations shall serve him.
ja huldigen müssen ihm alle Könige, die Völker alle ihm dienen!
12 For he shall deliver the poor who crieth for aid, And the oppressed who hath no helper.
Denn er wird den Armen retten, der um Hilfe schreit, den Leidenden und den, der keinen Helfer hat.
13 He shall spare the weak and needy, And save the lives of the poor.
Er wird sich erbarmen des Schwachen und Armen und Hilfe gewähren den Seelen der Armen;
14 He shall redeem them from deceit and violence, And their blood shall be precious in his sight.
aus Bedrückung und Gewalttat wird er ihre Seelen erlösen, und ihr Blut wird kostbar sein in seinen Augen.
15 He shall prosper, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba; Prayer also shall be made for him continually, And daily shall he be praised.
So lebe er denn, und man gebe ihm vom Golde aus Saba, man bete immerdar für ihn und segne ihn allezeit!
16 There shall be an abundance of corn in the land; Its fruit shall shake like Lebanon, even on the tops of the mountains; And they of the cities shall flourish as the grass of the earth.
Fülle von Korn möge sein im Lande bis auf die Gipfel der Berge, es rausche seine Frucht wie der Libanon! Und aus den Städten blühe das Volk hervor so zahlreich wie das Gras der Erde!
17 His name shall endure for ever; His name shall be continued as long as the sun. By him shall men bless themselves; All nations shall call him blessed.
Sein Name möge ewig bestehn: solange die Sonne scheint, lebe sein Name fort, so daß man in ihm sich Segen wünscht und alle Völker ihn glücklich preisen!
18 [[Praised be God, Jehovah, the God of Israel, Who alone doeth wonderful things!
Gepriesen sei Gott der HERR, der Gott Israels, der Wunder vollbringt, er allein!
19 Praised be his glorious name for ever! May his glory fill the whole earth! Amen, Amen!
Und gepriesen sei sein herrlicher Name in Ewigkeit, und die ganze Erde sei seiner Herrlichkeit voll! Amen, ja Amen! –
