Psalms 66
1 “For the leader of the music. A psalm.” Shout joyfully unto God. all ye lands!
Dem Musikmeister; ein Lied, ein Psalm. Jauchzet Gott, ihr Lande alle!
2 Sing ye the honor of his name; Make his praise glorious!
Lobsinget der Ehre seines Namens,
3 Say unto God, How terrible are thy doings! Through the greatness of thy power thine enemies are suppliants to thee!
Sprechet zu Gott: »Wie wunderbar ist dein Walten! Ob der Fülle deiner Macht huldigen dir sogar deine Feinde.
4 Let all the earth worship thee; Let it sing praise to thee, let it sing praise to thy name! (Pause)
Alle Lande müssen vor dir sich niederwerfen und dir lobsingen, lobsingen deinem Namen!« (SELA)
5 Come, behold the works of God! How terrible his doings among the sons of men!
Kommt und schauet die Großtaten Gottes, der wunderbar ist im Walten über den Menschenkindern!
6 He turned the sea into dry land; They went through the deep on foot; Then we rejoiced in him.
Er wandelte das Meer in trocknes Land, so daß man den Strom zu Fuß durchzog; drum wollen wir uns freun!
7 By his power he ruleth for ever; His eyes are fixed upon the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves! (Pause)
Ewig herrscht er in seiner Macht; seine Augen haben acht auf die Völker: die Widerspenstigen dürfen sich nicht stolz erheben. (SELA)
8 O bless our God, ye nations. And make the voice of his praise to be heard!
Preiset, ihr Völker, unsern Gott, laßt laut seinen Ruhm erschallen,
9 It is he who preserveth our lives, And suffereth not our feet to stumble.
ihn, der unsre Seele am Leben erhalten und unsern Fuß nicht hat wanken lassen.
10 Thou hast, indeed, proved us, O God! Thou hast tried us as silver is tried.
Wohl hast du uns geprüft, o Gott, uns geläutert, wie man Silber läutert;
11 Thou broughtest us into a snare, And didst lay a heavy burden upon our backs;
du hast uns ins Netz geraten lassen, hast drückende Last auf unsern Rücken gelegt;
12 Thou didst cause men to ride upon our heads, And we have gone through fire and water: But thou hast brought us to a place of abundance.
Menschen hast du hinfahren lassen über unser Haupt, durch Feuer und Wasser haben wir ziehen müssen: doch endlich hast du uns ins Freie hinausgeführt.
13 I will go into thy house with burnt-offerings! I will pay thee my vows, —
Ich komme mit Brandopfern in dein Haus, entrichte dir meine Gelübde,
14 The vows which my lips uttered. Which my mouth promised in my trouble.
zu denen meine Lippen sich verpflichtet haben, und die mein Mund verheißen in meiner Not.
15 Burnt sacrifices of fatlings will I offer to thee with the fat of rams; Bullocks, with he-goats, will I sacrifice to thee. (Pause)
Brandopfer von Mastvieh will ich dir bringen samt dem Opferduft von Widdern; Rinder samt Böcken will ich zubereiten. (SELA)
16 Come and hear, all ye who fear God, And I will relate what he hath done for me!
Kommt her und höret, ihr Gottesfürchtigen alle: ich will erzählen, was er an meiner Seele getan!
17 I called upon him with my mouth, And praise is now upon my tongue.
Zu ihm hab’ ich laut mit meinem Munde gerufen, während Lobpreis schon auf meiner Zunge lag.
18 If I had meditated wickedness in my heart, The Lord would not have heard me:
Wäre mein Sinn auf Böses gerichtet gewesen, so hätte der Allherr mich nicht erhört.
19 But surely God hath heard me; He hath had regard to the voice of my supplication.
Aber Gott hat mich erhört, hat geachtet auf mein lautes Flehen.
20 Blessed be God, who did not reject my prayer, Nor withhold his mercy from me!
Gepriesen sei Gott, der mein Flehen nicht verworfen und seine Gnade mir nicht versagt hat!
