< Psalms 63 >
1 “A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.” O God! thou art my God! earnestly do I seek thee! My soul thirsteth, my flesh longeth for thee, In a dry, thirsty land. where is no water!
Psalmus David, Cum esset in deserto Idumææ. Deus Deus meus ad te de luce vigilo. Sitivit in te anima mea, quam multipliciter tibi caro mea.
2 Thus I look toward thee in thy sanctuary, To behold thy power and thy glory!
In terra deserta, et invia, et inaquosa: sic in sancto apparui tibi, ut viderem virtutem tuam, et gloriam tuam.
3 For thy loving-kindness is better than life; Therefore my lips shall praise thee!
Quoniam melior est misericordia tua super vitas: labia mea laudabunt te.
4 Thus will I bless thee, while I live; In thy name will I lift up my hands!
Sic benedicam te in vita mea: et in nomine tuo levabo manus meas.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And with joyful lips my mouth shall praise thee,
Sicut adipe et pinguedine repleatur anima mea: et labiis exultationis laudabit os meum.
6 When I think of thee upon my bed, And meditate on thee in the night-watches.
Si memor fui tui super stratum meum, in matutinis meditabor in te:
7 For thou art my help, And in the shadow of thy wings I rejoice.
quia fuisti adiutor meus. Et in velamento alarum tuarum exultabo,
8 My soul cleaveth to thee; Thy right hand holdeth me up.
adhæsit anima mea post te: me suscepit dextera tua.
9 While they who seek to destroy my life Shall themselves go down into the depths of the earth.
Ipsi vero in vanum quæsierunt animam meam, introibunt in inferiora terræ:
10 They shall be given up to the sword, And be a portion for jackals.
tradentur in manus gladii, partes vulpium erunt.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God; All that swear by him shall be honored; But the mouth of liars shall be stopped.
Rex vero lætabitur in Deo, laudabuntur omnes qui iurant in eo: quia obstructum est os loquentium iniqua.
