< Psalms 61 >

1 “For the leader of the music. To be sung upon stringed instruments. A psalm of David.” Hear my cry, O God! Attend to my prayer!
In finem, In hymnis David. Exaudi Deus deprecationem meam: intende orationi meæ.
2 From the extremity of the land I cry unto thee in deep sorrow of heart; Lead me to the rock that is high above me!
A finibus terræ ad te clamavi: dum anxiaretur cor meum, in petra exaltasti me. Deduxisti me,
3 For thou art my refuge, My strong tower against the enemy.
quia factus es spes mea: turris fortitudinis a facie inimici.
4 I shall dwell in thy tabernacle for ever; I will seek refuge under the covert of thy wings.
Inhabitabo in tabernaculo tuo in sæcula: protegar in velamento alarum tuarum.
5 For thou, O God! wilt hear my vows, And give me the inheritance of those who fear thy name.
Quoniam tu Deus meus exaudisti orationem meam: dedisti hereditatem timentibus nomen tuum.
6 O prolong the life of the king! May his years extend through many generations!
Dies super dies regis adiicies: annos eius usque in diem generationis et generationis.
7 May he reign for ever before God! Grant that mercy and truth may preserve him!
Permanet in æternum in conspectu Dei: misericordiam et veritatem eius quis requiret?
8 So will I sing praise to thy name for ever; I will daily perform my vows.
Sic psalmum dicam nomini tuo in sæculum sæculi: ut reddam vota mea de die in diem.
