Psalms 54

1 “For the leader of the music. To be sung on stringed instruments A psalm of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?” Save me, O God! by thy name, And by thy strength defend my cause!

Til sangmesteren, med strengelek; en læresalme av David, da sifittene kom og sa til Saul: David holder sig skjult hos oss. Gud, frels mig ved ditt navn, og hjelp mig til min rett ved din kraft!

2 O God! hear my prayer, Give ear to the words of my mouth!

Gud, hør min bønn, vend øret til min munns ord!

3 For enemies have risen up against me, And oppressors seek my life; They have not set God before their eyes. (Pause)

For fremmede har reist sig imot mig, og voldsmenn står mig efter livet; de har ikke Gud for øie. (Sela)

4 Behold! God is my helper; The Lord is the support of my life.

Se, Gud hjelper mig, Herren er den som opholder mitt liv.

5 He will repay evil to my enemies; For thy truth's sake, O God! cut them off!

Det onde skal falle tilbake på mine fiender; utrydd dem i din trofasthet!

6 With a willing heart will I sacrifice to thee; I will praise thy name, O LORD! for it is good;

Med villig hjerte vil jeg ofre til dig; jeg vil prise ditt navn, Herre, fordi det er godt.

7 For thou hast delivered me from all trouble, So that my eye hath looked with joy upon my enemies!

For av all nød frir han mig ut, og på mine fiender ser mitt øie med lyst.
