Psalms 54

1 “For the leader of the music. To be sung on stringed instruments A psalm of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?” Save me, O God! by thy name, And by thy strength defend my cause!

Au maître-chantre. — Avec instruments à cordes. Hymne de David, lorsque les Ziphiens vinrent dire à Saül: «David se tient caché parmi nous.» Dieu, sauve-moi par la vertu de ton nom, Et fais-moi justice par ta puissance!

2 O God! hear my prayer, Give ear to the words of my mouth!

Dieu, écoute ma prière! Prête l'oreille aux paroles de ma bouche!

3 For enemies have risen up against me, And oppressors seek my life; They have not set God before their eyes. (Pause)

Car des étrangers se sont levés contre moi. Et des hommes violents en veulent à ma vie: Ils éloignent Dieu de leurs pensées. (Pause)

4 Behold! God is my helper; The Lord is the support of my life.

Oui, Dieu est mon secours; Le Seigneur est parmi ceux qui soutiennent mon âme.

5 He will repay evil to my enemies; For thy truth's sake, O God! cut them off!

Il fera retomber le mal sur mes ennemis. Dans ta fidélité, détruis-les!

6 With a willing heart will I sacrifice to thee; I will praise thy name, O LORD! for it is good;

Je t'offrirai des sacrifices volontaires; Je célébrerai ton nom, ô Éternel; car tu es bon:

7 For thou hast delivered me from all trouble, So that my eye hath looked with joy upon my enemies!

Tu m'as délivré de toutes mes détresses, Et mon oeil a contemplé la confusion de mes ennemis.
