Psalms 39

1 “A psalm of David. For the leader of the music of the Jeduthunites.” I said, I will take heed to my ways, That I may not sin with my tongue; I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me.

達味詩歌，交與樂官耶杜通。 我已決定：我要謹遵我的道路，免得我以口舌犯罪，當惡人在我面前時，我以口罩籠住我嘴。

2 I was dumb with silence; I spake not even what was good; But my pain was increased.

我默不作聲，以免口出惡語，但我的痛楚更因此而加劇。

3 My heart was hot within me; In my anguish the fire burst forth, And I spake with my tongue:

我的心在腔滾滾沸騰，我愈沉思愈覺得烈火如焚；我的舌頭便不耐煩地說：

4 LORD, make me to know mine end, And the number of my days, That I may know how frail I am!

上主，求你明白啟示我：我的終期和壽數究有幾何，好使我知道我是何等脆弱。

5 Behold, thou hast made my days as a hand-breadth, And my life is as nothing before thee; Yea, every man in his firmest state is altogether vanity. (Pause)

你使我的歲月屈指可數，我的生命在你前算是虛無。世人的生存只是一口呵噓。

6 Surely every man walketh in a vain show; Surely he disquieteth himself in vain; He heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

人生實如泡影，只是白白操勞，他們所有積蓄不知誰來得到。

7 What, then, O Lord! is my hope? My hope is in thee!

我主，現今我還什麼希望？我的希望寄託在你的身上!

8 Deliver me from all my transgressions; Let me not be the reproach of scoffers!

救你救我脫離我的種種罪愆，不要使我受愚人的恥笑侮慢。

9 Yet I am dumb; I open not my mouth; For thou hast done it!

我靜默不言，有口不開，因為這事是由你安排。

10 But remove from me thine infliction; For I am perishing by the blow of thine hand.

求你由我身上去這場災患，因你手的打擊，我已消瘦不堪。

11 When thou with rebukes dost chasten man for iniquity, Thou causest his glory to waste away like a moth! Surely every man is vanity.

你為了罰罪而把世人懲治，你像蛀蟲將他的珍寶侵蝕；至於人，不過只是一口氣。上主，求你俯聽我的祈禱，求你側耳靜聽我的哀告，莫要作聾不聽我的哭號。因為

12 Hear my prayer, O LORD! Give ear to my cry; Be not silent at my tears! For I am but a stranger with thee, A sojourner, as all my fathers were.

我在你前只是旅客，如我列祖一樣只是路。

13 O spare me, that I may recover strength, Before I go away, and be no more!

求你轉移你的目光，不要怒視我，使我一去不返之前能得享安樂。
