Psalms 33
1 Rejoice, O ye righteous, in the LORD! For praise becometh the upright.
| רננו צדיקים ביהוה לישרים נאוה תהלה׃ |
2 Praise the LORD with the harp; Sing to him with the ten-stringed psaltery!
| הודו ליהוה בכנור בנבל עשור זמרו לו׃ |
3 Sing to him a new song; Play skilfully amid the sound of trumpets!
| שירו לו שיר חדש היטיבו נגן בתרועה׃ |
4 For the word of the LORD is right, And all his acts are faithful.
| כי ישר דבר יהוה וכל מעשהו באמונה׃ |
5 He loveth justice and equity; The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
| אהב צדקה ומשפט חסד יהוה מלאה הארץ׃ |
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, And all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth.
| בדבר יהוה שמים נעשו וברוח פיו כל צבאם׃ |
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea, as a heap; He layeth up the deep in storehouses.
| כנס כנד מי הים נתן באצרות תהומות׃ |
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
| ייראו מיהוה כל הארץ ממנו יגורו כל ישבי תבל׃ |
9 For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
| כי הוא אמר ויהי הוא צוה ויעמד׃ |
10 The LORD bringeth the devices of the nations to nothing; He frustrateth the designs of kingdoms.
| יהוה הפיר עצת גוים הניא מחשבות עמים׃ |
11 The purposes of the LORD stand for ever; The designs of his heart, to all generations.
| עצת יהוה לעולם תעמד מחשבות לבו לדר ודר׃ |
12 Happy the nation whose God is Jehovah; The people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance.
| אשרי הגוי אשר יהוה אלהיו העם בחר לנחלה לו׃ |
13 The LORD looketh down from heaven; He beholdeth all the children of men;
| משמים הביט יהוה ראה את כל בני האדם׃ |
14 From his dwelling-place he beholdeth all the inhabitants of the earth, —
| ממכון שבתו השגיח אל כל ישבי הארץ׃ |
15 He that formed the hearts of all, And observeth all their works.
| היצר יחד לבם המבין אל כל מעשיהם׃ |
16 A king is not saved by the number of his forces, Nor a hero by the greatness of his strength.
| אין המלך נושע ברב חיל גבור לא ינצל ברב כח׃ |
17 The horse is a vain thing for safety, Nor can he deliver his master by his great strength.
| שקר הסוס לתשועה וברב חילו לא ימלט׃ |
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, —Upon them that trust in his goodness;
| הנה עין יהוה אל יראיו למיחלים לחסדו׃ |
19 To save them from the power of death, And keep them alive in famine.
| להציל ממות נפשם ולחיותם ברעב׃ |
20 The hope of our souls is in the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
| נפשנו חכתה ליהוה עזרנו ומגננו הוא׃ |
21 Yea, in him doth our heart rejoice; In his holy name we have confidence.
| כי בו ישמח לבנו כי בשם קדשו בטחנו׃ |
22 May thy goodness be upon us, O LORD! According as we trust in thee!
| יהי חסדך יהוה עלינו כאשר יחלנו לך׃ |
