Psalms 21

1 “For the leader of the music. A psalm of David.” The king rejoiceth in thy strength, O LORD! Yea, he doth greatly exult in thy protection.

A karmesternek. Zsoltár Dávidtól. Örökkévaló, hatalmadnak örül a király, és segítségedben mily nagyon ujjong!

2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, And hast not denied him the request of his lips. (Pause)

Szíve kivánságát megadtad néki, és ajkainak óhajtását nem vontad meg. Széla.

3 Yea, thou hast met him with rich blessings, Thou hast placed a crown of pure gold upon his head.

Mert eléje jösz a jónak áldásival, teszel fejére színarany koronát.

4 He asked life of thee; thou gavest it him; Even long life, enduring for ever.

Életet kért tőled, adtál neki, hosszú életet mind örökké.

5 Great is his glory through thine aid; Honor and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

Nagy az ő dicsősége segítséged által; fenséget és fényt helyezel reá.

6 Thou hast made him blessed for evermore; Thou hast made him glad with the joy of thy countenance.

Mert teszed őt áldássá mindétíg, megvidámítod örömmel színed előtt.

7 For the king trusteth in the LORD; And through the goodness of the Most High he shall never fall.

Mert a király bízik az Örökkévalóban, és a Legfelsőnek kegye által nem tántorodik meg.

8 Thy hand shall overtake all thine enemies; Thy right hand shall overtake them that hate thee.

Eléri kezed mind az ellenségeidet, jobbod eléri gyűlölőidet.

9 Thou wilt make them like a burning oven in the time of thine anger; Jehovah shall swallow them up in his wrath, And the fire shall devour them.

Teszed őket mintegy tűzes kemenezébe haragvásod idején; az Örökkévaló az ő haragjában megsemmisíti őket, s tűz emészti meg őket.

10 Their offspring shalt thou destroy from the earth, And their posterity from the sons of men.

Gyümölcsüket elveszíted a földről, és magzatjukat az ember fiai hözül.

11 For they spread a net of mischief against thee; They devised plots against thee, but they did not prevail.

Mert gonoszságot czéloztak ellened, kigondoltak fondorlatot – mit sem tehetnek.

12 Therefore thou wilt cause them to turn their backs; Thou wilt make ready thine arrows upon the strings against them.

Mert teszed őket háttal fordulókká, húrjaidat arczukna, k feszíted.

13 Exalt thyself, O LORD! by thy strength! So will we sing, and praise thy mighty deeds.

Emelkedjél, Örökkévaló, hatalmadban, hadd énekeljük és zengjük erődet!
