Psalms 21
1 “For the leader of the music. A psalm of David.” The king rejoiceth in thy strength, O LORD! Yea, he doth greatly exult in thy protection.
Davidin Psalmi, edelläveisaajalle. Herra, Kuningas riemuitsee sinun voimassas: ja kuinka suuresti hän iloitsee avustas!
2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, And hast not denied him the request of his lips. (Pause)
Hänen sydämensä halun sinä annat hänelle, etkä kiellä, mitä hänen suunsa anoo, (Sela)
3 Yea, thou hast met him with rich blessings, Thou hast placed a crown of pure gold upon his head.
Sillä sinä ennätät hänen hyvällä siunauksella: sinä panet kultaisen kruunun hänen päähänsä.
4 He asked life of thee; thou gavest it him; Even long life, enduring for ever.
Hän anoi elämää sinulta, niin sinä annoit hänelle pitkän ijän aina ja ijankaikkisesti.
5 Great is his glory through thine aid; Honor and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
Hänellä on suuri kunnia sinun avustas: sinä panet ylistyksen ja kaunistuksen hänen päällensä.
6 Thou hast made him blessed for evermore; Thou hast made him glad with the joy of thy countenance.
Sillä sinä asetat hänen siunaukseksi ijankaikkisesti: sinä ilahutat hänen kasvois edessä ilolla.
7 For the king trusteth in the LORD; And through the goodness of the Most High he shall never fall.
Sillä Kuningas turvaa Herraan: ja Ylimmäisen laupiudessa ei hän horju.
8 Thy hand shall overtake all thine enemies; Thy right hand shall overtake them that hate thee.
Sinun kätes löytää kaikki vihollises: sinun oikia kätes löytää ne, jotka sinua kadehtivat.
9 Thou wilt make them like a burning oven in the time of thine anger; Jehovah shall swallow them up in his wrath, And the fire shall devour them.
Sinä panet heitä niinkuin kuumaan pätsiin sinun vihas aikana: Herra nielee heitä vihassansa, ja tuli syö heitä.
10 Their offspring shalt thou destroy from the earth, And their posterity from the sons of men.
Heidän hedelmänsä sinä kadotat maan päältä, ja heidän siemenensä ihmisten lapsista.
11 For they spread a net of mischief against thee; They devised plots against thee, but they did not prevail.
Sillä he ajattelivat tehdä sinulle pahaa: he pitivät neuvoa, jota ei he voineet täyttää.
12 Therefore thou wilt cause them to turn their backs; Thou wilt make ready thine arrows upon the strings against them.
Sillä sinä teet heitä olkapääksi: sinä tarkoitat jänteelläs heidän kasvojansa vastaan.
13 Exalt thyself, O LORD! by thy strength! So will we sing, and praise thy mighty deeds.
Herra, ylennä sinuas väkevyydessäs; niin me veisaamme ja kiitämme sinun voimaas.
