Psalms 149

1 Praise ye the LORD! Sing unto the LORD a new song; His praise in the assembly of the godly!

Hallelúja! Lofið Drottin! Syngið honum nýjan söng. Lofsyngið honum öll þjóðin.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him; Let the sons of Zion be joyful in their king!

Ó, Ísrael, gleð þig yfir skapara þínum. Þið sem búið í Jerúsalem, fagnið yfir konungi ykkar!

3 Let them praise his name in the dance; Let them praise him with the timbrel and harp!

Lofið nafn hans með gleðidansi og leikið fyrir hann á bumbur og gígjur.

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people; He will beautify the distressed with salvation.

Drottinn hefur unun af lýð sínum. Hann frelsar hina auðmjúku.

5 Let the godly-rejoice in their glory; Let them shout for joy upon their beds!

Hinir trúuðu gleðjist með sæmd og syngi fagnandi í hvílum sínum.

6 Let the praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,

Lofið hann, þið fólk hans!

7 To execute vengeance upon the nations, And punishment upon the peoples!

Framkvæmið refsingu hans á þjóðunum með tvíeggjuðu sverði.

8 To bind their kings with chains. And their nobles with fetters of iron;

Setjið konunga þeirra og fyrirmenn í járn og fullnægið á þeim skráðum dómi.

9 To execute upon them the sentence which is written: This honor have all his godly ones. Praise ye the LORD!

Drottinn er vegsemd þjóðar sinnar. Hallelúja!
