< Psalms 144 >
1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who teacheth my hands to war, And my fingers to fight!
[By David.] Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to battle:
2 He who is my loving-kindness and my fortress; My high tower and my deliverer, My shield, and he in whom I trust; Who subdueth peoples under me.
my loving kindness, my fortress, my high tower, my deliverer, my shield, and he in whom I take refuge; who subdues peoples under me.
3 LORD, what is man, that thou art mindful of him, Or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?
LORD, what is man, that you care for him? Or the son of man, that you think of him?
4 Man is like a vapor; His day is like a shadow that passeth away.
Man is like a breath. His days are like a shadow that passes away.
5 Bow thy heavens, O LORD! and come down; Touch the mountains, so that they shall smoke!
Part your heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
6 Cast forth lightnings, and scatter them; Shoot forth thine arrows, and destroy them!
Throw out lightning, and scatter them. Send out your arrows, and rout them.
7 Send forth thine hand from above; Rescue and save me from deep waters; From the hands of aliens,
Stretch out your hand from above, rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hands of foreigners;
8 Whose mouth uttereth deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood!
whose mouths speak deceit, Whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9 I will sing to thee a new song, O God! Upon a ten-stringed psaltery will I sing praise to thee;
I will sing a new song to you, God. On a ten-stringed lyre, I will sing praises to you.
10 To thee, who givest salvation to kings, Who deliverest David, thy servant, from the destructive sword!
You are he who gives salvation to kings, who rescues David, his servant, from the deadly sword.
11 Rescue and deliver me from the hands of aliens, Whose mouth uttereth deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood!
Rescue me, and deliver me out of the hands of foreigners, whose mouths speak deceit, whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
12 That our sons may be as plants, Grown up in their youth; Our daughters as corner-pillars, Hewn like those of a palace!
Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace.
13 That our garners may be full, Affording all kinds of store; That our sheep may bring forth thousands And ten thousands in our streets.
Our storehouses are full, filled with all kinds of provision. Our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields.
14 That our cattle may be fruitful; That there be no breaking in, or going out; And no outcry in our streets.
Our oxen will pull heavy loads. There is no breaking in, and no going away, and no outcry in our streets.
15 Happy the people that is in such a state! Yea, happy the people whose God is Jehovah!
Blessed are the people who are in such a situation. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
