Psalms 138

1 “A psalm of David.” I will praise thee with my whole heart; Before the gods will I sing praise to thee;

De David. Seigneur, je te rendrai gloire de toute mon âme, et je te chanterai mes psaumes devant les anges, parce que tu as écouté les paroles de ma bouche.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, And praise thy name for thy goodness and thy truth; For thy promise thou hast magnified above all thy name!

Je t'adorerai en ton saint temple, et je rendrai gloire à ton nom, à cause de ta miséricorde et de ta vérité; car tu as exalté ton saint nom au- dessus de toutes choses.

3 In the day when I called, thou didst hear me; Thou didst strengthen me, and encourage my soul.

En quelque jour que je t'invoque, aussitôt exauce-moi; et tu agrandiras mon âme par ta force.

4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD! When they hear the promises of thy mouth!

Seigneur, que tous les rois de la terre te rendent gloire; car ils ont ouï toutes les paroles de ta bouche.

5 Yea, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD; For great is the glory of the LORD.

Et qu'ils chantent dans les voies du Seigneur; car la gloire du Seigneur est grande.

6 The LORD is high, yet he looketh upon the humble, And the proud doth he know from afar.

Car le Seigneur, quoique très élevé, regarde les humbles, et reconnaît de loin les superbes.

7 Though I walk through the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; Thou wilt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies; Thou wilt save me by thy right hand!

Si je marche au milieu des tribulations, tu me vivifieras; tu as étendu les mains contre la fureur de mes ennemis, et ta droite m'a sauvé.

8 The LORD will perform all things for me; Thy goodness, O LORD! endureth ever: Forsake not the works of thine hands!

Le Seigneur les rétribuera en ma faveur; Seigneur, ta miséricorde est éternelle: ne méprise pas l'œuvre de tes mains.
