Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
௧தாவீதின் மகனும் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவுமாகிய சாலொமோனின் நீதிமொழிகள்:
2 That one may learn wisdom and instruction, And receive words of understanding;
௨இவைகளால் ஞானத்தையும் போதகத்தையும் அறிந்து, புத்திமதிகளை உணர்ந்து,
3 That one may gain the instruction of prudence, Justice, equity, and uprightness;
௩விவேகம், நீதி, நியாயம், நிதானம் என்பவைகளைப்பற்றிய உபதேசத்தை அடையலாம்.
4 Which will give caution to the simple, To the young man wisdom and discretion;
௪இவைகள் பேதைகளுக்கு புத்தியையும், வாலிபர்களுக்கு அறிவையும் விவேகத்தையும் கொடுக்கும்.
5 Let the wise man hear, and he will increase his knowledge, And the man of understanding will gain wise counsels;
௫புத்திமான் இவைகளைக் கேட்டு அறிவில் வளருவான்; விவேகி நல்ல ஆலோசனைகளை அடைந்து;
6 So as to understand a proverb and a deep maxim, The words of the wise and their dark sayings.
௬நீதிமொழியையும், அதின் அர்த்தத்தையும், ஞானிகளின் வாக்கியங்களையும், அவர்கள் சொன்ன மறைபொருட்களையும் அறிந்துகொள்வான்.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
௭யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயப்படுதலே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; மூடர் ஞானத்தையும் அறிவுரைகளையும் அசட்டை செய்கிறார்கள்.
8 Hear, O my son! the instruction of thy father, And neglect not the teaching of thy mother!
௮என் மகனே, உன்னுடைய தகப்பன் புத்தியைக் கேள், உன்னுடைய தாயின் போதனையைத் தள்ளாதே.
9 For they shall be a graceful wreath for thy head, And a chain around thy neck.
௯அவைகள் உன்னுடைய தலைக்கு அலங்காரமான கிரீடமாகவும், உன்னுடைய கழுத்துக்கு பொன் சங்கிலியாகவும் இருக்கும்.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not!
௧0என் மகனே, பாவிகள் உனக்கு ஆசைகாட்டினாலும் நீ சம்மதிக்காதே.
11 If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us lurk secretly for him who is innocent in vain;
௧௧எங்களோடு வா, இரத்தம்சிந்தும்படி நாம் மறைந்திருந்து, குற்றமில்லாமல் இருக்கிறவர்களை காரணமில்லாமல் பிடிக்கும்படி ஒளிந்திருப்போம்;
12 Let us swallow them up alive, like the underworld, Yea, in full health, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)
௧௨பாதாளம் விழுங்குவதுபோல் நாம் அவர்களை உயிரோடு விழுங்குவோம்; குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்கள் விழுங்கப்படுவதுபோல் அவர்களை முழுமையாக விழுங்குவோம்; (Sheol h7585)
13 We shall find all kinds of precious substance, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
௧௩விலையுயர்ந்த எல்லாவிதப் பொருள்களையும் கண்டடைவோம்; கொள்ளைப்பொருளினால் நம்முடைய வீடுகளை நிரப்புவோம்.
14 Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse;”—
௧௪எங்களோடு பங்காளியாக இரு; நம்மெல்லோருக்கும் ஒரே பை இருக்கும் என்று அவர்கள் சொன்னால்;
15 My son, walk thou not in their way, Refrain thy foot from their path!
௧௫என் மகனே, நீ அவர்களோடு வழிநடவாமல், உன்னுடைய காலை அவர்களுடைய பாதைக்கு விலக்குவாயாக.
16 For their feet run to evil, And make haste to shed blood.
௧௬அவர்கள் கால்கள் தீங்குசெய்ய ஓடி, இரத்தம் சிந்த விரைகிறது.
17 For as the net is spread in vain Before the eyes of any bird,
௧௭எவ்வகையான பறவையானாலும் சரி, அதின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக வலையை விரிப்பது வீணானது.
18 So they lie in wait for their own blood; They lurk secretly for their own lives.
௧௮இவர்களோ தங்களுடைய இரத்தத்திற்கே மறைந்திருக்கிறார்கள், தங்களுடைய உயிருக்கே கண்ணிவைத்திருக்கிறார்கள்.
19 Such are the ways of every one greedy of unjust gain; It taketh away the life of the possessor thereof.
௧௯பொருளாசையுள்ள எல்லோருடைய வழியும் இதுவே; இது தன்னை உடையவர்களின் உயிரை வாங்கும்.
20 Wisdom crieth out in the highway; In the market-place she uttereth her voice;
௨0ஞானமானது வெளியே நின்று கூப்பிடுகிறது, வீதிகளில் சத்தமிடுகிறது.
21 At the head of the noisy streets she crieth aloud; At the entrances of the gates, throughout the city, she proclaimeth her words [[saying]]:
௨௧அது ஆள் நடமாட்டமுள்ள தெருக்களின் சந்திப்பிலும், நகரத்தின் நுழைவு வாசலிலும் நின்று கூப்பிட்டு, பட்டணத்தில் தன்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லுகிறது:
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? How long will scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?
௨௨பேதைகளே, நீங்கள் பேதைமையை விரும்புவதும், ஏளனம் செய்பவர்களே, நீங்கள் ஏளனத்தில் பிரியப்படுவதும், அறிவில்லாதவர்களே, நீங்கள் ஞானத்தை வெறுப்பதும், எதுவரைக்கும் இருக்கும்.
23 Turn ye at my reproof! Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make known my words to you!
௨௩என்னுடைய கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலுக்குத் திரும்புங்கள்; இதோ, என்னுடைய ஆவியை உங்களுக்கு அருளுவேன், என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளை உங்களுக்குத் தெரிவிப்பேன்.
24 “Because I have called, and ye have refused, —Because I have stretched out my hand, and no one hath regarded.
௨௪நான் கூப்பிட்டும், நீங்கள் கேட்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறீர்கள்; நான் என்னுடைய கையை நீட்டியும் கவனிக்கிறவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை.
25 Because ye have rejected all my counsel, And have slighted my rebuke, —
௨௫என்னுடைய ஆலோசனையையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் தள்ளி, என்னுடைய கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை வெறுத்தீர்கள்.
26 I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh;
௨௬ஆகையால், நானும் உங்களுடைய ஆபத்துக்காலத்தில் சிரித்து, நீங்கள் பயப்படும் காரியம் வரும்போது ஏளனம்செய்வேன்.
27 When your fear cometh upon you like a storm. And destruction overtaketh you like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
௨௭நீங்கள் பயப்படும் காரியம் புயல்போல் வரும்போதும், ஆபத்து சூறாவளிபோல் உங்களுக்கு நேரிடும்போதும், நெருக்கமும் இடுக்கணும் உங்கள்மேல் வரும்போதும், ஏளனம்செய்வேன்.
28 Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer! They will seek me early, But they shall not find me!
௨௮அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் என்னை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுவார்கள்; நான் மறுஉத்திரவு கொடுக்கமாட்டேன்; அவர்கள் அதிகாலையிலே என்னைத் தேடுவார்கள், என்னைக் காணமாட்டார்கள்.
29 Because they have hated knowledge, And have not chosen the fear of the LORD, —
௨௯அவர்கள் அறிவை வெறுத்தார்கள், யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயப்படுதலைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமற்போனார்கள்.
30 Because they would not attend to my counsel, And have despised all my reproof, —
௩0என்னுடைய ஆலோசனையை அவர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை; என்னுடைய கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலையெல்லாம் அசட்டை செய்தார்கள்.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own devices;
௩௧ஆகையால் அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய வழியின் பலனைச் சாப்பிடுவார்கள்; தங்களுடைய யோசனைகளினால் திருப்தியடைவார்கள்.
32 Yea, the turning away of the simple shall slay them, And the carelessness of fools shall destroy them.
௩௨அறிவீனர்களின் மாறுபாடு அவர்களைக் கொல்லும், மூடரின் பொறுப்பின்மை அவர்களை அழிக்கும்;
33 But whoso hearkeneth to me shall dwell securely, And shall not be disquieted with the fear of evil.”
௩௩எனக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் பயமின்றி தங்கி, ஆபத்திற்குப் பயப்படாமல் அமைதியாக இருப்பான்.
