Proverbs 6
1 My son, if thou hast become surety for another, If thou hast stricken hands for another,
੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਹੱਥ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ,
2 If thou hast become ensnared by the words of thy mouth, If thou hast been caught by the words of thy mouth,
੨ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਫਸ ਗਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਫੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
3 Do this now, my son, and rescue thyself, —Since thou hast fallen into the hands of thy neighbor, —Go, prostrate thyself, and be urgent with thy neighbor!
੩ਸੋ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ, ਹੁਣ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਛੁਟੇਂਗਾ, ਜਾ, ਨੀਵਾਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਾ ਲੈ।
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids;
੪ਨਾ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੀਂਦ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ, ਨਾ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪਲਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝਪਕਣ ਦੇ।
5 Rescue thyself, as a roe from the hand, And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
੫ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਹਿਰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੜ੍ਹੀਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਚਿੜ੍ਹੀ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈ।
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard! Consider her ways, and be wise!
੬ਹੇ ਆਲਸੀ, ਤੂੰ ਕੀੜੀ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਬਣ,
7 She hath no governor, Nor overseer, nor ruler;
੭ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਆਗੂ, ਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ, ਨਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਹੈ,
8 Yet she prepareth in the summer her food, She gathereth in the harvest her meat.
੮ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋੜਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਖਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
9 How long wilt thou lie in bed, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise from thy sleep?
੯ਹੇ ਆਲਸੀ, ਤੂੰ ਕਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ? ਤੂੰ ਕਦੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਠੇਂਗਾ?
10 “A little sleep, —a little slumber, —A little folding of the hands to rest:”
੧੦ਰੱਤੀ ਕੁ ਨੀਂਦ, ਰੱਤੀ ਕੁ ਊਂਘ, ਰੱਤੀ ਕੁ ਹੱਥ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈਣਾ,
11 So shall thy poverty come upon thee like a robber, Yea, thy want, as an armed man!
੧੧ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਡਾਕੂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਤੰਗੀ ਸ਼ਸਤਰਧਾਰੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਵੇਗੀ!
12 A worthless wretch is the unrighteous man, Who walketh with a deceitful mouth;
੧੨ਨਿਕੰਮਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਪੁੱਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 Who winketh with his eyes, Speaketh with his feet, And teacheth with his fingers.
੧੩ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਸਾਉਂਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਂਗਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
14 Fraud is in his heart; He deviseth mischief continually; He scattereth contentions.
੧੪ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਟੇਢਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਿੱਤ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਝਗੜੇ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
15 Therefore shall calamity come upon him suddenly; In a moment shall he be destroyed, and that without remedy;
੧੫ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਵੇਗੀ, ਇੱਕ ਪਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਾਅ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
16 These six things doth the LORD hate; Yea, seven are an abomination to him:
੧੬ਛੇ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਸੱਤ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
17 Lofty eyes, a false tongue, And hands which shed innocent blood;
੧੭ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ, ਝੂਠੀ ਜੀਭ, ਅਤੇ ਬੇਦੋਸ਼ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੱਥ,
18 A heart that contriveth wicked devices; Feet that are swift in running to mischief,
੧੮ਉਹ ਮਨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਖੋਟੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪੈਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਫੁਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਭੱਜਦੇ ਹਨ,
19 A false witness, that uttereth lies, And him that soweth discord among brethren.
੧੯ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਝੂਠ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਝਗੜਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ।
20 Keep, O my son! the commandment of thy father, And forsake not the precepts of thy mother!
੨੦ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੱਡ।
21 Bind them continually to thy heart, Tie them around thy neck!
੨੧ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਰੱਖ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ਼ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ।
22 When thou goest forth, they shall guide thee; When thou sleepest, they shall watch over thee; And, when thou awakest, they shall talk with thee.
੨੨ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨਗੀਆਂ, ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਵੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨਗੀਆਂ,
23 For the commandment is a lamp, and instruction a light; Yea, the rebukes of correction lead to life.
੨੩ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੀਵਾ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਜੋਤ, ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਤਾੜ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਹੈ।
24 They shall guard thee from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the unchaste woman.
੨੪ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਤੋਂ, ਅਤੇ ਓਪਰੀ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਰਮਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਣ।
25 Desire not her beauty in thy heart, Nor let her catch thee with her eyelids;
੨੫ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੁਹੱਪਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਨਾ ਕਰ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪਲਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਫਸਾ ਲਵੇ,
26 For by a harlot a man is brought to a morsel of bread, And the adulteress layeth snares for the precious life.
੨੬ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਦਮੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਟੁੱਕੜੇ ਤੱਕ ਮੋਹਤਾਜ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਾਈ ਔਰਤ ਅਣਮੋਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
27 Can a man take fire into his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?
੨੭ਭਲਾ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁੱਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਗ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਨਾ ਸੜਨ?
28 Can one walk upon burning coals, And his feet not be scorched?
੨੮ਕੋਈ ਅੰਗਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਨਾ ਝੁਲਸਣ?
29 So is it with him who goeth in to his neighbor's wife; Whoever toucheth her shall not go unpunished.
੨੯ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੀ ਔਰਤ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਲਾਵੇ ਉਹ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੰਡ ਭੋਗੇ ਨਾ ਛੁੱਟੇਗਾ।
30 Men do not overlook a thief, Though he steal to satisfy his appetite, when he is hungry;
੩੦ਚੋਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਢਿੱਡ ਭਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ,
31 If found, he must repay sevenfold, And give up all the substance of his house.
੩੧ਪਰ ਜੇ ਫੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਤ ਗੁਣਾ ਭਰਨਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਮਾਲ ਦੇਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
32 Whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding; He that doeth it destroyeth himself;
੩੨ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਔਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
33 Blows and dishonor shall he get, And his reproach shall not be wiped away.
੩੩ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਖਮ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਇੱਜ਼ਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਮਿਟੇਗੀ।
34 For jealousy is the fury of a man; He will not spare in the day of vengeance;
੩੪ਅਣਖ ਤਾਂ ਮਰਦ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਬਦਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਹ ਤਰਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ।
35 And he will not pay regard to any ransom, Nor be content, though thou offer many gifts.
੩੫ਉਹ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹਰਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨੇਗਾ।
