< Proverbs 6 >
1 My son, if thou hast become surety for another, If thou hast stricken hands for another,
2 If thou hast become ensnared by the words of thy mouth, If thou hast been caught by the words of thy mouth,
Ou te tonbe nan pèlen akoz pawòl a bouch ou, ou te kenbe menm, akoz pawòl bouch ou yo.
3 Do this now, my son, and rescue thyself, —Since thou hast fallen into the hands of thy neighbor, —Go, prostrate thyself, and be urgent with thy neighbor!
Alò fè sa, fis mwen an, pou delivre tèt ou. Akoz ou te vin antre nan men a vwazen ou an, ale desann pou jennen vwazen ou an.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids;
Pa kite dòmi tonbe nan zye ou, ni somèy rive sou pòpyè zye ou.
5 Rescue thyself, as a roe from the hand, And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Chape tèt ou kon yon antilòp nan men a chasè, oswa zwazo a nan pelen moun lachas la.
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard! Consider her ways, and be wise!
Ale kote foumi, o parese. Veye abitid li yo e vin saj!
7 She hath no governor, Nor overseer, nor ruler;
Li menm, san pa gen chèf, ni ofisye, ni mèt,
8 Yet she prepareth in the summer her food, She gathereth in the harvest her meat.
kon prepare manje li nan gran sezon an e ranmase pwovizyon li nan rekòlt la.
9 How long wilt thou lie in bed, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise from thy sleep?
10 “A little sleep, —a little slumber, —A little folding of the hands to rest:”
Yon ti dòmi, yon ti somèy, yon ti pliye men ou yo pou repoze;
11 So shall thy poverty come upon thee like a robber, Yea, thy want, as an armed man!
mizè ou va vin parèt sou ou tankou yon vagabon, e nesesite ou tankou yon nonm k ap pote zam.
12 A worthless wretch is the unrighteous man, Who walketh with a deceitful mouth;
13 Who winketh with his eyes, Speaketh with his feet, And teacheth with his fingers.
ki bat zye li, ki fè siy ak pye li, ki pwente ak dwèt li;
14 Fraud is in his heart; He deviseth mischief continually; He scattereth contentions.
15 Therefore shall calamity come upon him suddenly; In a moment shall he be destroyed, and that without remedy;
Pou sa, malè li va parèt sibitman; nan yon enstan li va kase nèt; e li p ap gen gerizon ditou.
16 These six things doth the LORD hate; Yea, seven are an abomination to him:
Gen sis bagay ke SENYÈ a rayi; wi sèt menm ki abominab devan l:
17 Lofty eyes, a false tongue, And hands which shed innocent blood;
Zye ògeye, yon lang k ap bay manti, avèk men ki vèse san inosan,
18 A heart that contriveth wicked devices; Feet that are swift in running to mischief,
Yon kè ki divize plan mechan yo, pye ki kouri vit pou jwenn mal,
19 A false witness, that uttereth lies, And him that soweth discord among brethren.
Yon fo temwen ki bay manti, ak yon moun ki gaye konfli pami frè yo.
20 Keep, O my son! the commandment of thy father, And forsake not the precepts of thy mother!
Fis mwen an, swiv lòd a papa ou e pa abandone enstriksyon manman ou.
21 Bind them continually to thy heart, Tie them around thy neck!
Mare yo tout tan sou kè ou; mare yo nan kou ou.
22 When thou goest forth, they shall guide thee; When thou sleepest, they shall watch over thee; And, when thou awakest, they shall talk with thee.
Lè ou mache toupatou, yo va gide ou. Lè ou dòmi, yo va veye sou ou. Epi lè ou leve, yo va pale avèk ou.
23 For the commandment is a lamp, and instruction a light; Yea, the rebukes of correction lead to life.
24 They shall guard thee from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the unchaste woman.
pou anpeche ou rive nan fanm movèz vi a, a lang glise de fanm adiltè a.
25 Desire not her beauty in thy heart, Nor let her catch thee with her eyelids;
Pa dezire bote li nan kè ou, ni kite li kapte ou avèk pòpyè zye li.
26 For by a harlot a man is brought to a morsel of bread, And the adulteress layeth snares for the precious life.
Paske akoz yon pwostitiye, yon gason redwi a yon mòso pen. Yon fanm adiltè fè lachase lavi presye.
27 Can a man take fire into his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?
Èske yon nonm kab mete dife poze antre janm li yo pou rad li pa brile?
28 Can one walk upon burning coals, And his feet not be scorched?
Oswa èske yon nonm kab mache sou chabon limen, san ke pye l pa brile?
29 So is it with him who goeth in to his neighbor's wife; Whoever toucheth her shall not go unpunished.
30 Men do not overlook a thief, Though he steal to satisfy his appetite, when he is hungry;
Pèsòn pa meprize yon vòlè kap vòlè pou l kab satisfè grangou.
31 If found, he must repay sevenfold, And give up all the substance of his house.
Men si pa aza, li jwenn li, la oblije repeye li sèt fwa.
32 Whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding; He that doeth it destroyeth himself;
33 Blows and dishonor shall he get, And his reproach shall not be wiped away.
L ap twouve blesi ak gwo wont, e repwòch li p ap efase menm.
34 For jealousy is the fury of a man; He will not spare in the day of vengeance;
Paske jalouzi fè laraj nan yon nonm; li p ap fè gras nan jou vanjans lan.
35 And he will not pay regard to any ransom, Nor be content, though thou offer many gifts.
Li p ap dakò dedonmaje ak ranson, ni li p ap satisfè malgre ou fè li anpil kado.
