Proverbs 4
1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, And attend, that ye may learn understanding!
Con ơi, hãy nghe cha khuyên dạy. Lắng tai để có sự hiểu biết,
2 For I give you good instruction; Forsake ye not my commandments.
vì ta cho con bài học tốt. Đừng bỏ phép tắc của ta.
3 For I was my father's son, A tender and only child in the sight of my mother.
Vì ta cũng vậy, vốn là con của cha ta, là đứa con một yêu quý của mẹ ta.
4 He taught me, and said to me, Let thy heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments, and live.
Cha ta cũng dạy ta rằng: “Lòng con ghi tạc lời ta. Giữ gìn mệnh lệnh ta và sống.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, and depart not from, the words of my mouth.
Tìm cầu khôn ngoan và thông sáng. Đừng từ khước, đừng xây bỏ lời ta,
6 Forsake her not, and she will guard thee: Love her, and she will preserve thee.
Đừng lìa bỏ sự khôn ngoan, vì nó sẽ bảo vệ con. Hãy yêu mến sự khôn ngoan, vì nó sẽ gìn giữ con.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore gain wisdom, And with all thy gain, gain understanding.
Khôn ngoan là cần yếu, hãy tìm cầu sự khôn ngoan! Tận dụng khả năng cho được thông sáng.
8 Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her;
Nếu tôn trọng sự khôn ngoan, nó sẽ đưa con lên cao. Nắm giữ sự khôn ngoan, nó sẽ đem cho con vinh dự.
9 She will give to thy head a graceful wreath, A beautiful crown will she bestow upon thee.
Nó sẽ ban vòng hoa xinh đẹp trên đầu con; và đội cho con vương miện vinh quang.”
10 Hear, O my son! and receive my sayings! So shall the years of thy life be many.
Con ơi, hãy nghe và tiếp nhận lời ta, thì con sẽ sống thêm được nhiều năm.
11 I have taught thee the way of wisdom, I have guided thee in the right path.
Ta đã dạy con biết đường khôn ngoan và dẫn con theo lối ngay thẳng.
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be confined; And, when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
Khi con đi, con sẽ không bị vướng chân; lúc con chạy, con sẽ không vấp ngã.
13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go; Keep her, for she is thy life.
Hãy nắm chặt lời khuyên dạy; đừng bỏ qua điều ta dạy. Phải nắm giữ, vì là chìa khóa của đời sống con.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, And go not in the way of evil men;
Đừng bước vào đường người ác, và đừng theo lối bọn gian manh.
15 Avoid it, pass not upon it, Turn from it, and go away.
Phải tránh xa; đừng bước ngang qua. Phải quay lưng, thẳng bước mà đi.
16 For they sleep not, unless they have done mischief; Yea, their sleep is taken away, unless they have caused some to fall.
Khi chưa làm ác, họ không thể chợp mắt. Họ cố thức để gây vấp ngã cho người.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.
Họ ăn bánh gian ác và uống rượu bạo tàn!
18 But the path of the righteous is as the light of dawn, Which groweth brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.
Nhưng đường người công chính càng thêm sáng sủa, rực rỡ như mặt trời lúc giữa trưa.
19 The way of the wicked is as thick darkness; They know not at what they stumble.
Đường người ác ngập tràn bóng tối. Họ vấp ngã cũng chẳng biết vì đâu.
20 My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear to my sayings;
Con ơi, lưu ý lời ta dạy. Lắng tai nghe lời ta giải bày.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart!
Đừng để lời ta xa tầm mắt con. Nhưng phải giữ chặt trong tâm hồn.
22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
Vì lời ta đem sinh lực cho ai tìm được nó, và chữa lành cho toàn thân họ.
23 More than any thing which thou watchest, watch thy heart; For from it goeth forth life.
Phải lo giữ tấm lòng con trước hết, vì là nguồn nước sống tuôn tràn.
24 Put away from thee a deceitful mouth, And remove far from thee perverse lips.
Con hãy tránh xa miệng lưỡi dối trá; và bỏ cách xa con môi gian tà.
25 Let thine eyes look straight forward, And thine eyelids be directed before thee.
Mắt con phải nhìn thẳng, và hướng tầm nhìn về phía trước mặt con.
26 Give heed to the path of thy foot, And let all thy ways be steadfast.
Nếu con thận trọng mọi đường lối; thì bước chân con sẽ vững vàng.
27 Turn not to the right hand or to the left; Remove thy foot from evil.
Đừng quay sang phải hay trái; phải giữ chân con khỏi chỗ gian tà.
