Proverbs 3
1 My son, forget not my teaching, And let thy heart observe my precepts!
Сине мој, не заборављај науке моје, и заповести моје нека хране срце твоје.
2 For length of days, and years of life, And peace shall they multiply to thee.
Јер ће ти донети дуг живот, добре године и мир.
3 Let not kindness and truth forsake thee; Bind them around thy neck, Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:
Милост и истина нека те не оставља; привежи их себи на грло, упиши их на плочи срца свог.
4 Then shalt thou find favor and good success In the sight of God and man.
Те ћеш наћи милост и добру мисао пред Богом и пред људима.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thy heart, And lean not on thine own understanding;
Уздај се у Господа свим срцем својим, а на свој разум не ослањај се.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will make thy paths plain.
На свим путевима својим имај Га на уму, и Он ће управљати стазе твоје.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Не мисли сам о себи да си мудар; бој се Господа и уклањај се ода зла.
8 It shall be health to thy muscles, And moisture to thy bones.
То ће бити здравље пупку твом и заливање костима твојим.
9 Honor the LORD with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thy increase;
Поштуј Господа имањем својим и првинама од свега дохотка свог;
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats overflow with new wine.
И биће пуне житнице твоје обиља, и пресипаће се вино из каца твојих.
11 My son, despise not the correction of the LORD, Nor be impatient under his chastisement!
Сине мој, не одбацуј наставе Господње, и немој да ти досади карање Његово.
12 For whom the LORD loveth he chasteneth, Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Јер кога љуби Господ оног кара, и као отац сина који му је мио.
13 Happy the man who findeth wisdom; Yea, the man who getteth understanding!
Благо човеку који нађе мудрост, и човеку који добије разум.
14 For the profit thereof is greater than that of silver, And the gain thereof than that of fine gold.
Јер је боље њом трговати него трговати сребром, и добитак на њој бољи је од злата.
15 More precious is she than pearls, And none of thy jewels is to be compared with her.
Скупља је од драгог камења, и шта је год најмилијих ствари твојих не могу се изједначити с њом.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.
Дуг живот у десници јој је, а у левици богатство и слава.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.
Путеви су њени мили путеви и све стазе њене мирне.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold of her, And happy is every one who hath her in his grasp.
Дрво је животно онима који се хватају за њу, и ко је год држи срећан је.
19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he framed the heavens.
Господ је мудрошћу основао земљу, утврдио небеса разумом.
20 By his knowledge the deep waters were cleft, And the clouds drop down the dew.
Његовом мудрошћу развалише се бездане и облаци капљу росом.
21 My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion!
Сине мој, да ти то не одлази из очију; чувај праву мудрост и разборитост;
22 For they shall be life to thy soul, And grace to thy neck.
И биће живот души твојој и накит грлу твом.
23 Then shalt thou go on thy way securely, And thy foot shall not stumble;
Тада ћеш ићи без бриге путем својим, и нога твоја неће се спотаћи.
24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid, Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Кад лежеш, нећеш се плашити, и кад почиваш, сладак ће ти бити сан.
25 Be not thou afraid of sudden alarm, Nor of the storm that is for the wicked, when it cometh;
Нећеш се плашити од нагле страхоте ни од погибли безбожничке кад дође.
26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence; Yea, he will keep thy foot from being taken.
Јер ће ти Господ бити узданица и чуваће ти ногу да се не ухвати.
27 Withhold not kindness from those who need it, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
Не одреци добра онима којима треба, кад можеш учинити.
28 Say not to thy neighbor, “Go, and come again, And to-morrow I will give to thee,” when thou hast it by thee.
Не говори ближњему свом: Иди, и дођи други пут, и сутра ћу ти дати, кад имаш.
29 Devise not evil against thy neighbor, While he dwelleth securely by thee.
Не куј зло ближњему свом који живи с тобом без бриге.
30 Contend not with a man without cause, When he hath done thee no harm.
Не свађај се ни с ким без узрока, ако ти није учинио зло.
31 Envy not the oppressor, And choose none of his ways.
Немој завидети насилнику, ни изабрати који пут његов.
32 For the perverse man is the abomination of the LORD, But he is in friendship with the upright.
Јер је мрзак Господу зликовац, а у праведних је тајна његова.
33 The curse of the LORD is upon the house of the wicked, But he blesseth the dwelling of the righteous.
Проклетство је Господње у кући безбожниковој, а стан праведнички благосиља.
34 Surely the scorners he treadeth scornfully, But giveth favor to the lowly.
Јер подсмевачима Он се подсмева, а кроткима даје милост.
35 The wise shall obtain honor, But fools shall bear off shame.
Мудри ће наследити славу, а безумнике ће однети срамота.
