Proverbs 3
1 My son, forget not my teaching, And let thy heart observe my precepts!
Filho meu, não te esqueças de minha lei; e que teu coração guarde meus mandamentos.
2 For length of days, and years of life, And peace shall they multiply to thee.
Porque te acrescentarão extensão de dias, e anos de vida e paz.
3 Let not kindness and truth forsake thee; Bind them around thy neck, Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:
Que a bondade e a fidelidade não te desamparem; amarra-as junto ao teu pescoço; escreve-as na tábua de teu coração.
4 Then shalt thou find favor and good success In the sight of God and man.
Então tu acharás graça e bom entendimento, aos olhos de Deus e dos homens.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thy heart, And lean not on thine own understanding;
Confia no SENHOR com todo o teu coração; e não te apoies em teu [próprio] entendimento.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will make thy paths plain.
Dá reconhecimento a ele em todas os teus caminhos; e ele endireitará tuas veredas.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Não sejas sábio aos teus [próprios] olhos; teme ao SENHOR, e afasta-te do mal.
8 It shall be health to thy muscles, And moisture to thy bones.
Isto será remédio para teu corpo, e alívio para teus ossos.
9 Honor the LORD with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thy increase;
Honra ao SENHOR com teus bens, e com a primeira parte de toda a tua renda.
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats overflow with new wine.
E teus celeiros se encherão de fartura, e tuas prensas de uvas transbordarão de vinho novo.
11 My son, despise not the correction of the LORD, Nor be impatient under his chastisement!
Filho meu, não rejeites a correção do SENHOR, nem te desagrades de sua repreensão;
12 For whom the LORD loveth he chasteneth, Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Porque o SENHOR repreende a quem ele ama, assim como o pai ao filho, [a quem] ele quer bem.
13 Happy the man who findeth wisdom; Yea, the man who getteth understanding!
Bem-aventurado o homem que encontra sabedoria, e o homem que ganha conhecimento.
14 For the profit thereof is greater than that of silver, And the gain thereof than that of fine gold.
Porque seu produto é melhor que o produto da prata; e seu valor, mais do que o do ouro fino.
15 More precious is she than pearls, And none of thy jewels is to be compared with her.
Ela é mais preciosa do que rubis; e tudo o que podes desejar não se pode comparar a ela.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.
Extensão de dias [há] em sua mão direita; em sua esquerda riquezas e honra.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.
Seus caminhos são caminhos agradáveis; e todas as suas veredas são paz.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold of her, And happy is every one who hath her in his grasp.
Ela é uma árvore de vida para os que dela pegam; e bem-aventurados são todos os que a retêm.
19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he framed the heavens.
O SENHOR com sabedoria fundou a terra; ele preparou os céus com a inteligência.
20 By his knowledge the deep waters were cleft, And the clouds drop down the dew.
Com seu conhecimento se fenderam os abismos, e as nuvens gotejam orvalho.
21 My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion!
Filho meu, que [estes] não se afastem de teus olhos; guarda a sabedoria e o bom-senso.
22 For they shall be life to thy soul, And grace to thy neck.
Porque serão vida para tua alma, e graça para teu pescoço.
23 Then shalt thou go on thy way securely, And thy foot shall not stumble;
Então andarás por teu caminho em segurança; e com teus pés não tropeçarás.
24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid, Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Quando te deitares, não terás medo; tu deitarás, e teu sono será suave.
25 Be not thou afraid of sudden alarm, Nor of the storm that is for the wicked, when it cometh;
Não temas o pavor repentino; nem da assolação dos perversos, quando vier.
26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence; Yea, he will keep thy foot from being taken.
Porque o SENHOR será tua esperança; e ele guardará teus pés para que não sejam presos.
27 Withhold not kindness from those who need it, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
Não detenhas o bem daqueles que possuem o direito, se tiveres em tuas mãos poder para o fazeres.
28 Say not to thy neighbor, “Go, and come again, And to-morrow I will give to thee,” when thou hast it by thee.
Não digas a teu próximo: Vai, e volta [depois], que amanhã te darei; se tu tiveres contigo [o que ele te pede].
29 Devise not evil against thy neighbor, While he dwelleth securely by thee.
Não planejes o mal contra teu próximo, pois ele mora tendo confiança em ti.
30 Contend not with a man without cause, When he hath done thee no harm.
Não brigues contra alguém sem motivo, se ele não fez mal contra ti.
31 Envy not the oppressor, And choose none of his ways.
Não tenhas inveja do homem violento, nem escolhas [seguir] algum dos caminhos dele.
32 For the perverse man is the abomination of the LORD, But he is in friendship with the upright.
Porque o SENHOR abomina os perversos; mas ele [guarda] o seu segredo com os justos.
33 The curse of the LORD is upon the house of the wicked, But he blesseth the dwelling of the righteous.
A maldição do SENHOR [está] na casa do perverso; porém ele abençoa a morada dos justos.
34 Surely the scorners he treadeth scornfully, But giveth favor to the lowly.
Certamente ele zombará dos zombadores; mas dará graça aos humildes.
35 The wise shall obtain honor, But fools shall bear off shame.
Os sábios herdarão honra; porém os loucos terão sobre si confusão.
