Proverbs 29
1 He who, being often reproved, hardeneth his neck, Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
जो बार बार तम्बीह पाकर भी गर्दनकशी करता है, अचानक बर्बाद किया जाएगा, और उसका कोई चारा न होगा।
2 When the righteous are powerful, the people rejoice; But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
जब सादिक़ इकबालमंद होते हैं, तो लोग ख़ुश होते हैं लेकिन जब शरीर इख़्तियार पाते हैं तो लोग आहें भरते हैं।
3 He who loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he who is a companion of harlots destroyeth his substance.
जो कोई हिकमत से उलफ़त रखता है, अपने बाप को ख़ुश करता है, लेकिन जो कस्बियों से सुहबत रखता है, अपना माल उड़ाता है।
4 A king by equity establisheth a land; But he who receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
बादशाह 'अद्ल से अपनी ममलुकत को क़याम बख़्शता है लेकिन रिश्वत सितान उसको वीरान करता है।
5 A man who flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his feet.
जो अपने पड़ोसी की ख़ुशामद करता है, उसके पाँव के लिए जाल बिछाता है।
6 In the transgression of a wicked man there is a snare; But the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
बदकिरदार के गुनाह में फंदा है, लेकिन सादिक़ गाता और ख़ुशी करता है।
7 A righteous man careth for the cause of the poor; A wicked man discerneth not knowledge.
सादिक़ ग़रीबों के मु'आमिले का ख़याल रखता है, लेकिन शरीर में उसको जानने की लियाकत नहीं।
8 Scoffers kindle a city into a flame; But wise men pacify wrath.
ठठ्टेबाज़ शहर में आग लगाते हैं, लेकिन 'अक़्लमंद क़हर को दूर कर देते हैं।
9 If a wise man contend in a cause with a fool, Whether he rage or laugh, there will be no rest.
अगर 'अक़्लमंद बेवक़ूफ़ से बहस करे, तो ख़्वाह वह क़हर करे ख़्वाह हँसे, कुछ इत्मिनान होगा।
10 The bloodthirsty man hateth the upright; But the righteous seek to preserve his life.
खू़ँरेज़ लोग कामिल आदमी से कीना रखते हैं, लेकिन रास्तकार उसकी जान बचाने का इरादा करते हैं।
11 A fool letteth all his anger come out; But a wise man keepeth it back.
बेवक़ूफ़ अपना क़हर उगल देता है, लेकिन 'अक़्लमंद उसको रोकता और पी जाता है।
12 If a ruler listen to words of falsehood, All his servants become wicked.
अगर कोई हाकिम झूट पर कान लगाता है, तो उसके सब ख़ादिम शरीर हो जाते हैं।
13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together: The LORD giveth light to the eyes of them both.
ग़रीब और ज़बरदस्त एक दूसरे से मिलते हैं, और ख़ुदावन्द दोनों की आँखे रोशन करता है।
14 The king that judgeth the poor with uprightness, His throne shall be established for ever.
जो बादशाह ईमानदारी से गरीबों की 'अदालत करता है, उसका तख़्त हमेशा क़ाईम रहता है।
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself bringeth shame to his mother.
छड़ी और तम्बीह हिकमत बख़्शती हैं, लेकिन जो लड़का बेतरबियत छोड़ दिया जाता है, अपनी माँ को रुस्वा करेगा।
16 When the wicked are powerful, transgression increaseth; But the righteous shall see their fall.
जब शरीर कामयाब होते हैं, तो बदी ज़्यादा होती है; लेकिन सादिक़ उनकी तबाही देखेंगे।
17 Chastise thy son, and he will give thee rest; Yea, he will give delight to thy soul.
अपने बेटे की तरबियत कर; और वह तुझे आराम देगा, और तेरी जान को शादमान करेगा।
18 Where there is no vision, the people become unruly; But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
जहाँ रोया नहीं वहाँ लोग बेकैद हो जाते हैं, लेकिन शरी'अत पर 'अमल करने वाला मुबारक है।
19 A servant will not be corrected by words; For, though he understand, he will not obey.
नौकर बातों ही से नहीं सुधरता, क्यूँकि अगरचे वह समझता है तो भी परवा नहीं करता।
20 Seest thou a man hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.
क्या तू बेताम्मुल बोलने वाले को देखता है? उसके मुक़ाबले में बेवक़ूफ़ से ज़्यादा उम्मीद है।
21 He that bringeth up his servant delicately from childhood Shall have him become a son at the last.
जो अपने घर के लड़के को लड़कपन से नाज़ में पालता है, वह आखिरकार उसका बेटा बन बैठेगा।
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, And a passionate man aboundeth in transgression.
क़हर आलूदा आदमी फ़ितना खड़ा करता है, और ग़ज़बनाक गुनाह में ज़ियादती करता है।
23 A man's pride will bring him low; But he that is of a humble spirit shall obtain honor.
आदमी का ग़ुरूर उसको पस्त करेगा, लेकिन जो दिल से फ़रोतन है 'इज़्ज़त हासिल करेगा।
24 He who shareth with a thief hateth himself: He heareth the curse, but maketh no discovery.
जो कोई चोर का शरीक होता है, अपनी जान से दुश्मनी रखता है; वह हल्फ़ उठाता है और हाल बयान नहीं करता।
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
इंसान का डर फंदा है, लेकिन जो कोई ख़ुदावन्द पर भरोसा करता है महफ़ूज़ रहेगा।
26 Many are they who seek the ruler's favor; But every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
हाकिम की मेहरबानी के तालिब बहुत हैं, लेकिन इंसान का फैसला ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से है।
27 As the unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, So the upright in his way is an abomination to the wicked.
सादिक़ को बेइन्साफ़ से नफ़रत है, और शरीर को रास्तरौ से।
