Proverbs 29
1 He who, being often reproved, hardeneth his neck, Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
Hvilken som emot straff genstörtig är, han skall med hast förderfvad varda, utan all hjelp.
2 When the righteous are powerful, the people rejoice; But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
När de rättfärdige månge äro, så glädes folket; men när den ogudaktige regerar, så suckar folket.
3 He who loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he who is a companion of harlots destroyeth his substance.
Den som vishet älskar, han gläder sin fader; men den som skökor uppehåller, han mister sina ägodelar.
4 A king by equity establisheth a land; But he who receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
En Konung upprätter landet genom rätt; men en girig förderfvar det.
5 A man who flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his feet.
Den som smekrar med sin nästa, han utbreder ett nät för hans fötter.
6 In the transgression of a wicked man there is a snare; But the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
När en ond syndar, besnärjer han sig sjelf; men en rättfärdig fröjdar sig, och hafver glädje.
7 A righteous man careth for the cause of the poor; A wicked man discerneth not knowledge.
Den rättfärdige känner den fattigas sak; den ogudaktige aktar ingen förnuft.
8 Scoffers kindle a city into a flame; But wise men pacify wrath.
De bespottare föra en stad i olycko; men de vise stilla vrede.
9 If a wise man contend in a cause with a fool, Whether he rage or laugh, there will be no rest.
När en vis med en dåra till handel kommer, han vare vred eller glad, så hafver han dock ingen ro.
10 The bloodthirsty man hateth the upright; But the righteous seek to preserve his life.
De blodgirige hata den fromma; men de rättfärdige vårda sig om hans själ.
11 A fool letteth all his anger come out; But a wise man keepeth it back.
En dåre gjuter sin anda allan ut; men en vis man håller tillbaka.
12 If a ruler listen to words of falsehood, All his servants become wicked.
En herre, som till lögn lust hafver, hans tjenare äro alle ogudaktige.
13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together: The LORD giveth light to the eyes of them both.
Fattige och ockrare bo ibland hvarannan; begges deras ögon upplyser Herren.
14 The king that judgeth the poor with uprightness, His throne shall be established for ever.
En Konung, som de fattiga troliga dömer, hans säte blifver evigliga beståndandes.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself bringeth shame to his mother.
Ris och straff gifver vishet; men ett barn, som hafver sjelfsvåld, skämmer sina moder.
16 When the wicked are powerful, transgression increaseth; But the righteous shall see their fall.
Der månge ogudaktige äro, der äro många synder; men de rättfärdige skola se deras fall.
17 Chastise thy son, and he will give thee rest; Yea, he will give delight to thy soul.
Tukta din son, så skall han vederqvicka dig, och göra dine själ vällust.
18 Where there is no vision, the people become unruly; But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
När Prophetien ute är, så förskingras folket; men väl är honom, som lagen vid magt håller.
19 A servant will not be corrected by words; For, though he understand, he will not obey.
En tjenare låter icke näpsa sig med ordom; förty, om han än förstår det, så tager han sig dock intet deraf.
20 Seest thou a man hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.
Ser du en, som snar är till att tala, det är mera hopp uppå en dåra, än uppå honom.
21 He that bringeth up his servant delicately from childhood Shall have him become a son at the last.
Om en tjenare varder af ungdom kräseliga hållen, så vill han sedan vara en herre.
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, And a passionate man aboundeth in transgression.
En vredsam man kommer träto åstad, och en harmse man gör många synder.
23 A man's pride will bring him low; But he that is of a humble spirit shall obtain honor.
Menniskones högfärd skall omstörta henne; men ära skall upphöja den ödmjuka.
24 He who shareth with a thief hateth himself: He heareth the curse, but maketh no discovery.
Den som med tjufvar del hafver, hörer bannas; och säger icke till, han hatar sitt lif.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Den som rädes för menniskom, han kommer på fall; men den som sig förlåter uppå Herran, han varder beskyddad.
26 Many are they who seek the ruler's favor; But every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
Månge söka ens Förstas ansigte; men hvars och ens dom kommer af Herranom.
27 As the unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, So the upright in his way is an abomination to the wicked.
En orättfärdig man är dem rättfärdigom en styggelse; och den som på en rätt väg är, han är dens ogudaktigas styggelse.
