Proverbs 23
1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, Consider well what is before thee;
Аще сядеши вечеряти на трапезе сильнаго, разумно разумевай предлагаемая тебе,
2 For thou wilt put a knife to thy throat, If thou art a man given to appetite!
и налагай руку твою, ведый, яко сицевая тебе подобает уготовити:
3 Long not for his dainties. For they are deceitful meat.
аще же несытнейший еси, не желай брашен его: сия бо имут живот ложен.
4 Toil not to become rich; Cease from this, thy wisdom.
Не распростирайся убог сый с богатым, твоею же мыслию удаляйся.
5 Wilt thou let thine eyes fly toward them? They are gone! For riches truly make to themselves wings; They fly away like the eagle toward heaven.
Аще устремиши на него око твое, никогдаже явится: соделаны бо суть ему крила яко орлу, и обращается в дом настоятеля своего.
6 Eat not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, And long not for his dainties;
Не вечеряй с мужем завистливым, ниже похощеши пищей его:
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.
имже бо образом аще кто поглотит власы, сице яст и пиет: ниже к себе да введеши его и снеси хлеб твой с ним:
8 The morsel, which thou hast eaten, thou shalt vomit up; And thou wilt have thrown away thy sweet words.
изблюет бо его и осквернит словеса твоя добрая.
9 Speak not in the ears of a fool; For he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
Во ушию безумнаго ничтоже глаголи, да не когда поругает разумная словеса твоя.
10 Remove not the ancient landmark, And enter not into the fields of the fatherless!
Не прелагай предел вечных и в стяжание сирот не вниди:
11 For their avenger is mighty; He will maintain their cause against thee.
избавляяй бо их Господь крепок есть и разсудит суд их с тобою.
12 Apply thy heart to instruction, And thine ears to the words of knowledge.
Даждь в наказание сердце твое, ушеса же твоя уготовай словесем чувственным.
13 Withhold not correction from a child; If thou beat him with the rod, he will not die.
Не преставай младенца наказовати: аще бо жезлом биеши его, не умрет (от него):
ты бо побиеши его жезлом, душу же его избавиши от смерти. (Sheol h7585)
15 My son, if thy heart be wise, My heart shall rejoice, even mine;
Сыне, аще премудро будет сердце твое, возвеселиши и мое сердце,
16 Yea, my reins shall exult, When thy lips speak right things.
и пребудут в словесех твои устне к моим устнам, аще права будут.
17 Let not thy heart envy sinners, But continue thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long;
Да не ревнует сердце твое грешником, но в страсе Господни буди весь день:
18 For surely there shall be a reward, And thine expectation shall not be cut off.
аще бо соблюдеши я, будут ти внуцы, и упование твое не отступит.
19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise; And let thy heart go forward in the way!
Слушай, сыне, и премудр бывай и исправляй мысли твоего сердца:
20 Be not thou among winebibbers, And riotous eaters of flesh;
не буди винопийца, ниже прилагайся к сложением и купованием мяс:
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.
всяк бо пияница и блудник обнищает, и облечется в раздранная и в рубища всяк сонливый.
22 Hearken to thy father, who begat thee, And despise not thy mother when she is old.
Слушай, сыне, отца родившаго тя, и не презирай, егда состареется мати твоя.
23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; Buy wisdom and instruction and understanding.
Истину стяжи и не отрини мудрости и учения и разума.
24 The father of a righteous man shall greatly rejoice; Yea, he who begetteth a wise child shall have joy in him.
Добре воспитовает отец праведен, о сыне же премудрем веселится душа его.
25 Let thy father and thy mother have joy; Yea, let her that bore thee rejoice!
Да веселится отец и мати о тебе, и да радуется рождшая тя.
26 My son, give me thy heart, And let thine eyes observe my ways!
Даждь ми, сыне, твое сердце, очи же твои моя пути да соблюдают.
27 For a harlot is a deep ditch; Yea, a strange woman is a narrow pit.
Сосуд бо сокрушен чуждий дом, и студенец тесен чуждий:
28 Like a robber she lieth in wait, And increaseth the treacherous among men.
сей бо вскоре погибнет, и всякий законопреступник потребится.
29 Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who contentions? Who anxiety? Who wounds without cause? Who dimness of eyes?
Кому горе? Кому молва? Кому судове? Кому горести и свары? Кому сокрушения вотще? Кому сини очи?
30 They that tarry long at the wine; They that go in to seek mixed wine.
Не пребывающым ли в вине? И не назирающым ли, где пирове бывают?
31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, When it sparkleth in the cup, When it goeth down smoothly.
Не упивайтеся вином, но беседуйте ко человеком праведным, и беседуйте во проходех: аще бо на чашы и сткляницы вдаси очи твои, последи имаши ходити нажайший белилнаго древа:
32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, And stingeth like an adder.
последи же яко от змиа уязвен прострется, и якоже от кераста разливается ему яд.
33 Thine eyes will look upon strange women, And thy heart will utter perverse things.
Очи твои егда узрят (жену) чуждую, уста твоя тогда возглаголют стропотная:
34 Yea, thou shalt be as one that lieth down in the midst of the sea, And as one that lieth down upon the top of a mast.
и возляжеши яко в сердцы моря и якоже кормчий во мнозе волнении.
35 They have stricken me [[shalt thou say]], —I suffered no pain! They have beaten me, —I felt it not! When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
Речеши же: биша мя, и не поболех, и поругашася ми, аз же не разумех: когда утро будет, да шед взыщу, с нимиже снидуся?
