Proverbs 2
1 Oh, my son, that thou wouldst receive my words, And treasure up my precepts within thee;
Filho meu, se aceitares as minhas palavras, e esconderes contigo os meus mandamentos,
2 That thou wouldst apply thine ear to wisdom, And incline thy heart to understanding!
Para fazeres atento à sabedoria o teu ouvido, e inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento,
3 For if thou wilt call aloud to knowledge, And lift up thy voice to understanding, —
E se clamares por entendimento, e por inteligência alçares a tua voz,
4 If thou wilt seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures,
Se como a prata a buscares e como a tesouros escondidos a esquadrinhares,
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.
Então entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom; From his mouth proceed knowledge and understanding:
Porque o Senhor é o que dá a sabedoria: da sua boca é que sai o conhecimento e o entendimento.
7 He layeth up safety for the righteous; He is a shield to them that walk uprightly:
Ele reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os retos: escudo é para os que caminham na sinceridade.
8 He guardeth the paths of equity, And defendeth the way of his servants.
Para que guardem as veredas do juízo: e ele o caminho dos seus santos conservará.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness and equity And uprightness, yea, every good path.
Então entenderás justiça, e juízo, e equidades, e todas as boas veredas,
10 When wisdom entereth into thy heart, And knowledge is pleasant to thy soul,
Quando a sabedoria entrar no teu coração, e o conhecimento for suave à tua alma.
11 Discretion will guard thee, Understanding will preserve thee.
O bom siso te guardará e a inteligência te conservará;
12 It will deliver thee from the way of the wicked, From the men who speak perverse things;
Para te fazer escapar do mau caminho, e do homem que fala coisas perversas.
13 Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;
Dos que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas.
14 Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perverseness of the wicked;
Que se alegram de mal fazer, e folgam com as perversidades dos maus.
15 Whose paths are crooked, And who are froward in their ways.
Cujas veredas são tortuosas e que se desviam nas suas carreiras,
16 It will deliver thee from the wife of another, From the stranger, who useth smooth words;
Para te fazer escapar da mulher estranha, e da estrangeira que lisongeia com suas palavras.
17 Who forsaketh the friend of her youth, And forgetteth the covenant of her God.
Que deixa o guia da sua mocidade e se esquece do concerto do seu Deus.
18 For her house sinketh down to Death, And her paths to the shades of the dead:
Porque a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para os defuntos.
19 None that go to her return again; They will not attain the paths of life.
Todos os que entrarem a ela não tornarão a sair, e não atinarão com as veredas da vida.
20 Therefore walk thou in the way of good men, And keep the paths of the righteous:
Para andares pelo caminho dos bons, e guardares as veredas dos justos.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, And the righteous shall remain in it;
Porque os retos habitarão a terra, e os sinceros permanecerão nela.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, And transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
Mas os ímpios serão arrancados da terra, e os aleivosos serão dela exterminados.
