< Proverbs 19 >

1 Better is the poor man who walketh in his integrity, Than he who is of false lips and a fool.
Pi bon se yon malere ki mache ak entegrite pase sila ak bouch konwonpi ki ensanse a.
2 Moreover, that the soul be without knowledge is not good, And he that hasteth with is feet stumbleth.
Anplis, li pa bon pou gen gwo kouraj, san konesans, ni pou prese rive fè fo pa.
3 The folly of man destroyeth his way, And then his heart fretteth against the LORD.
Foli a yon nonm fè chemen l gate; e kè li anraje kont SENYÈ a.
4 Wealth maketh many friends; But the poor is separated from his neighbor.
Richès fè zanmi ogmante anpil; men malere pèdi zanmi li yo.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, And he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
Yon fo temwen pa prale san pinisyon; e sila ki fè manti a, p ap chape.
6 Many are they who caress the noble, And every one is the friend of him who giveth gifts.
Anpil moun va chache favè a yon moun jenere ak men ouvri; tout moun se zanmi a sila ki bay kado.
7 All the brethren of the poor man hate him; How much more do his friends go far from him! He runneth after their words, —they are gone!
Tout frè a malere yo a rayi li; konbyen, anplis, pou zanmi l kouri kite l. L ale jwenn yo ak pawòl plede, men yo fin ale.
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth himself; He that keepeth understanding shall find good.
Sila ki twouve sajès renmen pwòp nanm li. Sila ki kenbe ak bon konprann nan va jwenn sa ki bon.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, And he that speaketh lies shall perish.
Yon fo temwen pa prale san pinisyon; epi sila ki bay manti a, va peri.
10 Luxury is not seemly for a fool; Much less should a servant have rule over princes.
Lavi alèz pa fèt pou moun ensanse; bokou mwens pou yon esklav ta gen otorite sou prens yo.
11 A man of understanding is slow to anger; Yea, it is his glory to pass over an offence.
Yon nonm ak bon konprann lan nan kòlè; se glwa li pou bliye yon transgresyon.
12 The wrath of a king is like the roaring of a lion; But his favor, like dew upon the grass.
Kòlè a wa a se tankou yon lyon k ap rele fò; men favè li se tankou lawouze sou zèb vèt.
13 A foolish son is a calamity to his father, And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Se yon fis plen foli k ap detwi papa l, e yon madanm k ap diskite a se tankou dlo kap degoute san rete.
14 Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers; But a prudent wife is from the LORD.
Kay ak byen se eritaj ki sòti nan papa; men yon fanm pridan sòti nan SENYÈ a.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, And the idle person shall suffer hunger.
Parès va voye yon pwofon somèy sou moun, e yon nonm ki pa travay, va soufri grangou.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his life; But he that neglecteth his ways shall die.
Sila ki kenbe kòmandman an kenbe nanm li, men sila ki enpridan nan kondwit va mouri.
17 He who hath pity on the poor lendeth to the LORD, And that which he giveth will he repay him.
Yon moun ki fè gras a yon malere prete a SENYÈ a, e Li va bay li rekonpans pou bon zèv li a.
18 Chasten thy son because there is hope, But let not thy soul desire to slay him.
Bay fis ou a disiplin pandan gen espwa; pa chache lanmò li.
19 A man of great wrath will suffer punishment; For if thou deliver him, yet must thou do it again.
Yon nonm ak gwo kòlè va pote pinisyon li; paske si ou pwoteje moun nan ou va oblije fè l ankò.
20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That thou mayst be wise in thy latter years.
Koute konsèy e aksepte disiplin pou ou kab vin saj pou tout rès vi ou.
21 Many are the devices in the heart of a man; But the purpose of the LORD, that shall stand.
Plan nan kè lòm yo anpil; men se konsèy SENYÈ a ki kanpe.
22 The charm of a man is his kindness; And better is a poor man than a liar.
Sa ki dezirab nan yon nonm se yon kè ki dous. Pito yon nonm ta malere pase li ta yon mantè.
23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life, And he that hath it shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil.
Lakrent SENYÈ a dirije a lavi pou fè moun dòmi ak kè satisfè, san kontamine ak mal.
24 The slothful man dippeth his hand into the dish: He doth not bring it back even to his mouth.
Parese a fouye men l nan plato a; men li refize rale l rive nan bouch li.
25 Strike the scoffer, and the simple will become prudent; Reprove a man of understanding, and he will discern knowledge.
Frape yon mokè pou moun san konprann nan vin gen lespri; repwòch a yon moun bon konprann, va fè l genyen konesans.
26 The son that causeth shame and disgrace doeth violence to his father, And chaseth away his mother.
Sila ki atake papa li e chase manman l ale, se yon fis ki fè wont ak dega patou.
27 Cease, my son, to listen to the instruction That causeth thee to wander from the words of knowledge!
Sispann koute disiplin, fis mwen an e ou va pèdi chemen konesans.
28 A worthless witness scoffeth at justice, And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.
Yon temwen ki fè dezòd moke lajistis; e bouch mechan an gaye inikite.
29 Punishments are prepared for scoffers, And stripes for the back of fools.
Gen desizyon jijman pou mokè yo; ak kou pou do a moun ensanse yo.
