Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രനും ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവുമായ ശലോമോന്റെ സുഭാഷിതങ്ങൾ:
2 That one may learn wisdom and instruction, And receive words of understanding;
മനുഷ്യർക്കു ജ്ഞാനവും ശിക്ഷണവും നേടുന്നതിനും വിവേകവചനങ്ങൾ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതിനും;
3 That one may gain the instruction of prudence, Justice, equity, and uprightness;
പരിജ്ഞാനത്തോടെയുള്ള പെരുമാറ്റം, നീതി, ന്യായം, ഔചിത്യം എന്നിവയ്ക്കുള്ള പ്രബോധനം ലഭിക്കാനും;
4 Which will give caution to the simple, To the young man wisdom and discretion;
ലളിതമാനസർക്കു കാര്യപ്രാപ്തിയും, യുവാക്കൾക്കു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും പ്രദാനംചെയ്യുന്നതിനും—
5 Let the wise man hear, and he will increase his knowledge, And the man of understanding will gain wise counsels;
ഈ സുഭാഷിതങ്ങൾ കേട്ട് ജ്ഞാനി തന്റെ അറിവ് വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും വിവേകികൾ മാർഗദർശനം നേടുന്നതിനും—
6 So as to understand a proverb and a deep maxim, The words of the wise and their dark sayings.
സുഭാഷിതങ്ങളും സാദൃശ്യകഥകളും സൂക്തങ്ങളും കടങ്കഥകളും ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതിനും ഇവ പ്രയോജനപ്രദമാകും.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
യഹോവാഭക്തി പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ഉറവിടമാകുന്നു എന്നാൽ ഭോഷർ ജ്ഞാനവും ശിക്ഷണവും നിരാകരിക്കുന്നു.
8 Hear, O my son! the instruction of thy father, And neglect not the teaching of thy mother!
എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, നിന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ശിക്ഷണം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയും നിന്റെ മാതാവിന്റെ ഉപദേശം അവഗണിക്കുകയും അരുത്.
9 For they shall be a graceful wreath for thy head, And a chain around thy neck.
അവ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന് അഴകേകുന്ന ഒരു ലതാമകുടവും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിൽ ഒരു അലങ്കാരഹാരവും ആയിരിക്കും.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not!
എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, പാപികൾ നിന്നെ വശീകരിച്ചാൽ, അവർക്കു വിധേയപ്പെട്ടുപോകരുത്.
11 If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us lurk secretly for him who is innocent in vain;
അവർ ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞേക്കാം: “ഞങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം വരൂ; നമുക്കു രക്തത്തിനായി പതിയിരിക്കാം, ഒരു വിനോദത്തിനായി, നിരുപദ്രവകാരിക്കെതിരേ കരുക്കൾനീക്കാം;
12 Let us swallow them up alive, like the underworld, Yea, in full health, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)
പാതാളമെന്നപോലെ നമുക്കവരെ ജീവനോടെ വിഴുങ്ങാം, ശവക്കുഴിയിലേക്കു നിപതിക്കുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ നമുക്കവരെ മുഴുവനായി വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയാം; (Sheol h7585)
13 We shall find all kinds of precious substance, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
വിവിധതരം അമൂല്യവസ്തുക്കൾ നമുക്കു പിടിച്ചെടുക്കാം നമ്മുടെ വീടുകൾ കൊള്ളമുതൽകൊണ്ടു നിറയ്ക്കാം;
14 Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse;”—
ഞങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം പങ്കുചേരൂ; നമുക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും ഒരു പണസഞ്ചിയിൽനിന്നു പങ്കുപറ്റാം”—
15 My son, walk thou not in their way, Refrain thy foot from their path!
എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, അവരോടൊപ്പം പോകരുതേ, അവരുടെ പാതകളിൽ പാദം പതിയുകയുമരുതേ;
16 For their feet run to evil, And make haste to shed blood.
കാരണം അവരുടെ പാദം തിന്മപ്രവൃത്തികളിലേക്ക് ദ്രുതഗമനംചെയ്യുന്നു, രക്തം ചിന്തുന്നതിന് അവർ തിടുക്കംകൂട്ടുന്നു.
17 For as the net is spread in vain Before the eyes of any bird,
പക്ഷികൾ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ വല വിരിക്കുന്നത് എത്ര നിരർഥകം!
18 So they lie in wait for their own blood; They lurk secretly for their own lives.
എന്നാൽ ഈ മനുഷ്യർ സ്വരക്തത്തിനായിത്തന്നെ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ സ്വന്തം ജീവനായിത്തന്നെ വല വിരിക്കുന്നു!
19 Such are the ways of every one greedy of unjust gain; It taketh away the life of the possessor thereof.
അതിക്രമങ്ങളിലൂടെ നേട്ടങ്ങൾ കൊയ്യുന്നവരുടെയെല്ലാം ഗതി ഇപ്രകാരംതന്നെയാണ്; കൈവശമാക്കുന്നവരുടെ ജീവനെത്തന്നെ അത് അപഹരിക്കുന്നു.
20 Wisdom crieth out in the highway; In the market-place she uttereth her voice;
തെരുവോരങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു ജ്ഞാനം ഉദ്ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു, ചത്വരങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് അവൾ ശബ്ദമുയർത്തുന്നു;
21 At the head of the noisy streets she crieth aloud; At the entrances of the gates, throughout the city, she proclaimeth her words [[saying]]:
ശബ്ദമുഖരിതമായ തെരുക്കോണിൽനിന്ന് അവൾ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നു, നഗരകവാടത്തിൽ അവൾ പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തുന്നു:
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? How long will scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?
“ലളിതമാനസരേ, എത്രനാൾ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ മൂഢതയിൽ അഭിരമിക്കും? പരിഹാസികളേ, എത്രനാൾ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ പരിഹാസത്തിൽ രസിക്കും? ഭോഷരേ, എത്രനാൾ നിങ്ങൾ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുക്കും?
23 Turn ye at my reproof! Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make known my words to you!
എന്റെ ശാസനകേട്ട് അനുതപിക്കുക. അപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുമായി പങ്കുവെക്കും, എന്റെ ഉപദേശങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും.
24 “Because I have called, and ye have refused, —Because I have stretched out my hand, and no one hath regarded.
എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ വന്നില്ല; സഹായവാഗ്ദാനവുമായി ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സമീപിച്ചു; ആരും ഗൗനിച്ചതുമില്ല.
25 Because ye have rejected all my counsel, And have slighted my rebuke, —
എന്റെ ഉപദേശങ്ങളെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾ നിരാകരിച്ചു; എന്റെ ശാസന സ്വീകരിച്ചതുമില്ല.
26 I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh;
അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുരന്തങ്ങളിൽ പുഞ്ചിരിക്കും; അത്യാഹിതങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെ തകിടംമറിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ പരിഹസിക്കും—
27 When your fear cometh upon you like a storm. And destruction overtaketh you like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
അത്യാഹിതങ്ങൾ ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾക്കുമേൽ ആഞ്ഞടിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ദുരന്തങ്ങൾ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെ നിങ്ങളെ തൂത്തെറിയുമ്പോൾ, ദുരിതവും വ്യഥയും നിങ്ങളെ കീഴടക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ.
28 Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer! They will seek me early, But they shall not find me!
“അപ്പോൾ അവർ എന്നോട് കേണപേക്ഷിക്കും, എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഉത്തരം അരുളുകയില്ല; അവർ ഉത്കണ്ഠയോടെ എന്നെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുനടക്കും, എങ്കിലും കണ്ടെത്തുകയില്ല,
29 Because they have hated knowledge, And have not chosen the fear of the LORD, —
അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുത്തു യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നത് തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.
30 Because they would not attend to my counsel, And have despised all my reproof, —
അവർ എന്റെ ഉപദേശം തിരസ്കരിച്ച് ശാസനയെ പുച്ഛിച്ചു,
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own devices;
അതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ കർമഫലം അനുഭവിക്കും അവരുടെ ദുരുപായങ്ങളുടെ ഫലംകൊണ്ട് അവർക്കു ശ്വാസംമുട്ടും.
32 Yea, the turning away of the simple shall slay them, And the carelessness of fools shall destroy them.
ലളിതമാനസരുടെ അപഥസഞ്ചാരം അവരെ മരണത്തിലേക്കു തള്ളിയിടും, ഭോഷരുടെ അലംഭാവം അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കും;
33 But whoso hearkeneth to me shall dwell securely, And shall not be disquieted with the fear of evil.”
എന്നാൽ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുന്നവർ സുരക്ഷിതരായി ജീവിക്കും അനർഥഭീതികൂടാതെ സ്വസ്ഥരായിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
