Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
೧ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದ ದಾವೀದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು.
2 That one may learn wisdom and instruction, And receive words of understanding;
೨ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ಜನರು ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.
3 That one may gain the instruction of prudence, Justice, equity, and uprightness;
೩ಅವರು ವಿವೇಕಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ನೀತಿ, ನ್ಯಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಿತರಾಗುವರು.
4 Which will give caution to the simple, To the young man wisdom and discretion;
೪ಈ ನುಡಿಗಳು ಮೂಢರಿಗೆ ಜಾಣತನವನ್ನೂ, ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವವು.
5 Let the wise man hear, and he will increase his knowledge, And the man of understanding will gain wise counsels;
೫ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ಪಾಡಿಂತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು, ವಿವೇಕಿಯು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಉಚಿತಾಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು.
6 So as to understand a proverb and a deep maxim, The words of the wise and their dark sayings.
೬ಇವು ಗಾದೆ, ಸಾಮ್ಯ, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ನುಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಒಗಟುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಲು ಸಾಧನವಾಗಿವೆ.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
೭ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯವೇ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಮೂಲವು, ಮೂರ್ಖರಾದರೋ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವರು.
8 Hear, O my son! the instruction of thy father, And neglect not the teaching of thy mother!
೮ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಉಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಬೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ತೊರೆಯಬೇಡ.
9 For they shall be a graceful wreath for thy head, And a chain around thy neck.
೯ಅವು ನಿನ್ನ ತಲೆಗೆ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಪುಷ್ಪಕಿರೀಟ, ಕೊರಳಿಗೆ ಹಾರದಂತಿರುವುದು.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not!
೧೦ಮಗನೇ, ಪಾಪಿಗಳು ದುಷ್ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನೀನು ಒಪ್ಪಲೇ ಬೇಡ.
11 If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us lurk secretly for him who is innocent in vain;
೧೧ಅವರು, “ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಾ, ರಕ್ತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕೋಣ, ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾರಣವಿಲ್ಲದೆಯೇ ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾದಿರೋಣ.
12 Let us swallow them up alive, like the underworld, Yea, in full health, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)
೧೨ಪಾತಾಳವು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಇಳಿಯುವವರನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನುಂಗುವಂತೆ, ನಾವೂ ಇವರನ್ನು ಜೀವದೊಡನೆ ನುಂಗಿಬಿಡೋಣ. (Sheol h7585)
13 We shall find all kinds of precious substance, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
೧೩ಸಕಲವಿಧವಾದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿದು, ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಮಾಡಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ.
14 Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse;”—
೧೪ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಚೀಟು ಹಾಕು; ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಹಣದ ಚೀಲ ಒಂದೇ ಆಗಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ,
15 My son, walk thou not in their way, Refrain thy foot from their path!
೧೫ಮಗನೇ, ಅವರೊಡನೆ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಬಾರದು, ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಡಬೇಡ.
16 For their feet run to evil, And make haste to shed blood.
೧೬ಅವರ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ ಓಡುವವು, ಅವರು ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಲು ಆತುರಪಡುವರು.
17 For as the net is spread in vain Before the eyes of any bird,
೧೭ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳ ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರಿಗೆ ಬಲೆಯನ್ನೊಡ್ಡುವುದು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ.
18 So they lie in wait for their own blood; They lurk secretly for their own lives.
೧೮ಇವರಾದರೋ ಸ್ವರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಸ್ವಜೀವವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.
19 Such are the ways of every one greedy of unjust gain; It taketh away the life of the possessor thereof.
೧೯ಸೂರೆಮಾಡುವವರೆಲ್ಲರ ದಾರಿಯು ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಸರಿ; ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಗಾರರ ಜೀವವನ್ನೇ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಮಾಡುವುದು.
20 Wisdom crieth out in the highway; In the market-place she uttereth her voice;
೨೦ಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂಬಾಕೆಯು ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಚೌಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ವನಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ.
21 At the head of the noisy streets she crieth aloud; At the entrances of the gates, throughout the city, she proclaimeth her words [[saying]]:
೨೧ಪೇಟೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆಯು ನುಡಿಯುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? How long will scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?
೨೨“ಮೂಢರೇ, ಮೂಢತನವನ್ನು ಎಂದಿನ ತನಕ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವಿರಿ? ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕರು ನಿಂದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟುಕಾಲ ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುವರು? ಜ್ಞಾನಹೀನರು ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವರು?
23 Turn ye at my reproof! Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make known my words to you!
೨೩ನನ್ನ ಗದರಿಕೆಗೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಡಿರಿ; ಇಗೋ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸುವೆನು.
24 “Because I have called, and ye have refused, —Because I have stretched out my hand, and no one hath regarded.
೨೪ನಾನು ಕರೆದಾಗ ನೀವು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದಿರಿ. ಕೈ ಚಾಚಿದರೂ ಯಾರೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ;
25 Because ye have rejected all my counsel, And have slighted my rebuke, —
೨೫ನನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದವನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಾರದೆ, ನನ್ನ ತಿದ್ದುಪಾಟನ್ನು ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
26 I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh;
೨೬ಆದಕಾರಣ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಯಂತೆ ಅಪಾಯವೂ, ತುಫಾನಿನಂತೆ ಆಪತ್ತೂ ಬಂದು, ನಿಮಗೆ ಶ್ರಮಸಂಕಟಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸುವಾಗ
27 When your fear cometh upon you like a storm. And destruction overtaketh you like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
೨೭ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಪಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೂ ನಗುವೆನು; ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವೆನು.
28 Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer! They will seek me early, But they shall not find me!
೨೮ಆಗ ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ಮೊರೆಯಿಟ್ಟರೂ ನಾನು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡೆನು, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆತುರದಿಂದ ಹುಡುಕಿದರೂ ನಾನು ಕಾಣಿಸೆನು.
29 Because they have hated knowledge, And have not chosen the fear of the LORD, —
೨೯ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕೊಡದೆ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡಿದರು.
30 Because they would not attend to my counsel, And have despised all my reproof, —
೩೦ನನ್ನ ಬೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ, ನನ್ನ ಗದರಿಕೆಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಾತ್ಸಾರಮಾಡಿದರು.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own devices;
೩೧ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ನಡತೆಯ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ, ಸ್ವಂತ ಕುಯುಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನೇ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆತುಂಬಾ ಉಣ್ಣಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು.
32 Yea, the turning away of the simple shall slay them, And the carelessness of fools shall destroy them.
೩೨ಮೂಢರು ತಮ್ಮ ಉದಾಸೀನತೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಹತರಾಗುವರು, ಜ್ಞಾನಹೀನರು ತಮ್ಮ ನಿಶ್ಚಿಂತೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ನಾಶವಾಗುವರು.
33 But whoso hearkeneth to me shall dwell securely, And shall not be disquieted with the fear of evil.”
೩೩ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವವನಾದರೋ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯಾವ ಕೇಡಿಗೂ ಭಯಪಡದೆ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಾಳುವನು” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
