Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
দাউদের ছেলে, ইস্রায়েলের রাজা শলোমনের হিতোপদেশ:
2 That one may learn wisdom and instruction, And receive words of understanding;
প্রজ্ঞা ও শিক্ষা অর্জনের জন্য; অন্তর্দৃষ্টিমূলক কথা বোঝার জন্য;
3 That one may gain the instruction of prudence, Justice, equity, and uprightness;
বিচক্ষণ ব্যবহারের সম্বন্ধে শিক্ষালাভের জন্য, যা কিছু যথার্থ, ন্যায্য ও সুন্দর, তা করার জন্য;
4 Which will give caution to the simple, To the young man wisdom and discretion;
অনভিজ্ঞ মানুষদের দূরদর্শিতা, অল্পবয়স্কদের জ্ঞান ও বিচক্ষণতা দানের জন্য—
5 Let the wise man hear, and he will increase his knowledge, And the man of understanding will gain wise counsels;
জ্ঞানবানেরা শুনুক ও তাদের জ্ঞান বৃদ্ধি হোক, এবং বিচক্ষণেরা পথনির্দেশনা লাভ করুক—
6 So as to understand a proverb and a deep maxim, The words of the wise and their dark sayings.
যেন তারা নীতিবচন ও দৃষ্টান্ত, জ্ঞানবানদের বাণী ও হেঁয়ালি বুঝতে পারে।
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
সদাপ্রভুর ভয় প্রজ্ঞার আরম্ভ, কিন্তু মূর্খেরা প্রজ্ঞা ও শিক্ষা তুচ্ছ করে।
8 Hear, O my son! the instruction of thy father, And neglect not the teaching of thy mother!
হে আমার বাছা, তোমার বাবার উপদেশ শোনো, আর তোমার মায়ের শিক্ষা ত্যাগ কোরো না।
9 For they shall be a graceful wreath for thy head, And a chain around thy neck.
এগুলি এক ফুলমালা হয়ে তোমার মাথার শোভা বাড়াবে ও এক হার হয়ে তোমার গলাকে সাজিয়ে তুলবে।
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not!
হে আমার বাছা, পাপীরা যদি তোমাকে প্রলুব্ধ করে, তুমি তাদের কথায় সম্মত হোয়ো না।
11 If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us lurk secretly for him who is innocent in vain;
তারা যদি বলে, “আমাদের সঙ্গে এসো; নির্দোষের রক্তপাত করার জন্য আমরা ওৎ পেতে থাকি, কয়েকটি নিরীহ মানুষকে মারার জন্য ঘাপটি মেরে থাকি;
12 Let us swallow them up alive, like the underworld, Yea, in full health, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)
কবরের মতো আমরা ওদের জীবন্ত গ্রাস করি, ও মৃত্যুর খাদে পড়া মানুষের মতো তাদের পুরোপুরি গ্রাস করি; (Sheol h7585)
13 We shall find all kinds of precious substance, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
আমরা সব ধরনের মূল্যবান সামগ্রী পাব ও লুন্ঠিত দ্রব্যে আমাদের বাড়িগুলি ভরিয়ে তুলব;
14 Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse;”—
আমাদের সঙ্গে গুটিকাপাতের দান চালো; আমরা সবাই লুটের অর্থ ভাগাভাগি করে নেব”—
15 My son, walk thou not in their way, Refrain thy foot from their path!
হে আমার বাছা, তাদের সঙ্গে যেয়ো না, তাদের পথে পা বাড়িয়ো না;
16 For their feet run to evil, And make haste to shed blood.
কারণ তাদের পা মন্দের দিকে ধেয়ে যায়, তারা রক্তপাত করার জন্য দ্রুতগতিতে দৌড়ায়।
17 For as the net is spread in vain Before the eyes of any bird,
যেখানে প্রত্যেকটি পাখি দেখতে পায় সেখানে জাল পাতার কোনো অর্থই হয় না!
18 So they lie in wait for their own blood; They lurk secretly for their own lives.
এইসব লোক নিজেদের রক্তপাত করার জন্যই ওৎ পেতে থাকে; তারা শুধু নিজেদের মারার জন্যই ঘাপটি মেরে থাকে!
19 Such are the ways of every one greedy of unjust gain; It taketh away the life of the possessor thereof.
বাঁকা পথে যারা ধন উপার্জন করতে চায় তাদের সবার এই গতিই হয়; যারা সেই ধন পায় তাদের প্রাণ সেই ধন ছিনিয়ে নেয়।
20 Wisdom crieth out in the highway; In the market-place she uttereth her voice;
পথে পথে প্রজ্ঞা চিৎকার করে বেড়ায়, প্রকাশ্য চকে সে তার সুর চড়ায়;
21 At the head of the noisy streets she crieth aloud; At the entrances of the gates, throughout the city, she proclaimeth her words [[saying]]:
প্রাচীরের মাথায় উঠে সে ডাক ছাড়ে, নগরের প্রবেশদ্বারে দাঁড়িয়ে সে বক্তৃতা দেয়:
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? How long will scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?
“তোমরা যারা অনভিজ্ঞ মানুষ, আর কত দিন তোমরা তোমাদের সরলতা ভালোবাসবে? আর কত দিন ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপকারীরা ঠাট্টা করে আনন্দ পাবে ও মূর্খেরা জ্ঞানকে ঘৃণা করবে?
23 Turn ye at my reproof! Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make known my words to you!
আমার ভর্ৎসনা দ্বারা অনুতপ্ত হও! তখন আমি তোমাদের কাছে আমার ভাবনাচিন্তা ঢেলে দেব, আমি তোমাদের কাছে আমার শিক্ষামালা জ্ঞাত করব।
24 “Because I have called, and ye have refused, —Because I have stretched out my hand, and no one hath regarded.
কিন্তু যখন আমি ডাকলাম তোমরা সে ডাক প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছ, ও আমি হাত বাড়িয়ে দেওয়া সত্ত্বেও কেউ মনোযোগ দাওনি,
25 Because ye have rejected all my counsel, And have slighted my rebuke, —
যেহেতু তোমরা আমার সব পরামর্শ উপেক্ষা করেছ ও আমার ভর্ৎসনা শুনতে চাওনি,
26 I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh;
তাই বিপর্যয় যখন তোমাদের আঘাত করবে তখন আমি হাসব; চরম দুর্দশা যখন তোমাদের নাগাল ধরে ফেলবে তখন আমি বিদ্রুপ করব—
27 When your fear cometh upon you like a storm. And destruction overtaketh you like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
চরম দুর্দশা যখন ঝড়ের মতো তোমাদের নাগাল ধরে ফেলবে, বিপর্যয় যখন ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের মতো তোমাদের উপরে ধেয়ে আসবে, মর্মান্তিক যন্ত্রণা ও দুঃখকষ্ট যখন তোমাদের আচ্ছন্ন করবে।
28 Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer! They will seek me early, But they shall not find me!
“তখন তারা আমাকে ডাকবে কিন্তু আমি উত্তর দেব না; তারা আমার খোঁজ করবে কিন্তু আমায় খুঁজে পাবে না,
29 Because they have hated knowledge, And have not chosen the fear of the LORD, —
যেহেতু তারা জ্ঞানকে ঘৃণা করেছে ও সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করতে চায়নি।
30 Because they would not attend to my counsel, And have despised all my reproof, —
যেহেতু তারা আমার পরামর্শ নিতে চায়নি ও আমার ভর্ৎসনা পদদলিত করেছে,
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own devices;
তাই তারা নিজেদের আচরণের ফলভোগ করবে ও তাদের ষড়যন্ত্রের ফলে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে।
32 Yea, the turning away of the simple shall slay them, And the carelessness of fools shall destroy them.
কারণ অনভিজ্ঞ লোকদের খামখেয়ালীপনাই তাদের হত্যা করবে, ও মূর্খদের আত্মপ্রসাদই তাদের ধ্বংস করবে;
33 But whoso hearkeneth to me shall dwell securely, And shall not be disquieted with the fear of evil.”
কিন্তু যে আমার কথা শোনে সে নিরাপদে বেঁচে থাকবে ও অনিষ্টের ভয় না করে স্বচ্ছন্দে থাকবে।”
