Nahum 1
1 The prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the prophecy of Nahum, the Elkoshite.
Uma revelação sobre Nineveh. O livro da visão de Nahum, o Elkoshite.
2 Jehovah is a jealous God, and an avenger; Jehovah is an avenger, and full of wrath! Jehovah taketh vengeance on his adversaries, And keepeth indignation for his enemies!
Yahweh é um Deus ciumento e vingador. Yahweh vinga e está cheio de ira. Yahweh vinga-se de seus adversários e mantém a ira contra seus inimigos.
3 Jehovah is slow to anger, but great in power; He will by no means clear the guilty; Jehovah cometh in the whirlwind and the storm, And the clouds are the dust of his feet.
Yahweh é lento na ira, e grande no poder, e de forma alguma deixará o culpado impune. Yahweh tem seu caminho no redemoinho e na tempestade, e as nuvens são a poeira de seus pés.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, And drieth up all the rivers. Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, And the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
Ele repreende o mar e o faz secar, e seca todos os rios. Bashan e Carmel enfraquecem. A flor do Líbano enfraquece.
5 The mountains tremble before him, And the hills melt; The earth is moved at his presence, Yea, the world and all that dwell therein.
As montanhas tremem diante dele, e as colinas se derretem. A terra treme com sua presença, sim, o mundo, e todos os que nele habitam.
6 Who can stand before his indignation, And who can abide before the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are cast down by him!
Quem pode ficar diante de sua indignação? Quem pode suportar a ferocidade de sua ira? Sua ira se derrama como fogo, e as rochas são despedaçadas por ele.
7 Jehovah is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; He careth for them that trust in him;
Yahweh é bom, um refúgio no dia dos problemas; e ele conhece aqueles que se refugiam nele.
8 But with an overwhelming flood will he make a full end of her place, And darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Mas com uma inundação transbordante, ele fará um fim completo do seu lugar, e perseguirá seus inimigos na escuridão.
9 What do ye meditate against Jehovah? He will make a full end; Not the second time shall the calamity come.
O que você conspira contra Yahweh? Ele acabará com tudo. A aflição não se levantará na segunda vez.
10 For while they are entangled like thorns, And like those that are drunk with wine, They shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Por estarem enredados como espinhos, e embriagados como com sua bebida, são consumidos totalmente como restolho seco.
11 From thee hath gone forth one that devised evil against Jehovah; That meditated destruction.
Um de vocês que inventa o mal contra Yahweh, que aconselha a maldade, já saiu.
12 Thus saith Jehovah: Though they be flourishing, and likewise many, Yet shall they be cut down, and pass away; I have afflicted thee, but I will afflict thee no more.
Yahweh diz: “Embora eles estejam em plena força e também muitos, mesmo assim serão cortados e falecerão. Embora eu os tenha afligido, não os afligirei mais”.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, And will burst thy bonds in sunder.
Agora vou quebrar seu jugo de vocês, e romperei seus laços”.
14 And concerning thee hath Jehovah given command, That thy name shall no more be sown. From the house of thy god I will cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make thy grave; for thou hast become vile!
Yahweh comandou a seu respeito: “Nenhum descendente levará mais o seu nome”. Fora da casa de seus deuses, eu cortarei a imagem gravada e a imagem derretida. Eu farei sua sepultura, pois você é vil”.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, That publisheth peace! Keep, O Judah, thy feasts, perform thy vows! For no more shall the destroyer pass through thee; He is utterly consumed.
Behold, sobre as montanhas os pés daquele que traz boas notícias, que publica a paz! Guarde seus banquetes, Judah! Realize seus votos, pois o maligno não passará mais por você. Ele está totalmente isolado.
