Nahum 1
1 The prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the prophecy of Nahum, the Elkoshite.
Carga de Nínive. Livro da visão de Nahum, o elcoshita.
2 Jehovah is a jealous God, and an avenger; Jehovah is an avenger, and full of wrath! Jehovah taketh vengeance on his adversaries, And keepeth indignation for his enemies!
O Senhor é Deus zeloso e que toma vingança, o Senhor toma vingança e tem furor: o Senhor toma vingança contra os seus adversários, e guarda a ira contra os seus inimigos.
3 Jehovah is slow to anger, but great in power; He will by no means clear the guilty; Jehovah cometh in the whirlwind and the storm, And the clouds are the dust of his feet.
O Senhor é tardio em irar-se, porém grande em força, e ao culpado não tem por inocente: o Senhor, cujo caminho é na tormenta, e na tempestade, e as nuvens são o pó dos seus pés.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, And drieth up all the rivers. Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, And the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
Ele repreende ao mar, e o faz secar, e esgota todos os rios: desfalecem Basan e Carmelo, e a flor do líbano se murchou.
5 The mountains tremble before him, And the hills melt; The earth is moved at his presence, Yea, the world and all that dwell therein.
Os montes tremem perante ele, e os outeiros se derretem; e a terra se levanta na sua presença; e o mundo, e todos os que nele habitam.
6 Who can stand before his indignation, And who can abide before the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are cast down by him!
Quem parará diante do seu furor? e quem persistirá diante do ardor da sua ira? a sua colera se derramou como um fogo, e as rochas foram por ele derribadas.
7 Jehovah is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; He careth for them that trust in him;
O Senhor é bom, ele serve de fortaleza no dia da angústia, e conhece aos que confiam nele.
8 But with an overwhelming flood will he make a full end of her place, And darkness shall pursue his enemies.
E com uma inundação trasbordante acabará de uma vez com o seu lugar; e as trevas perseguirão os seus inimigos.
9 What do ye meditate against Jehovah? He will make a full end; Not the second time shall the calamity come.
Que pensais vós contra o Senhor? ele mesmo vos consumirá de todo: não se levantará por duas vezes a angústia.
10 For while they are entangled like thorns, And like those that are drunk with wine, They shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Porque eles se entrelaçam como os espinhos, e se embebedam como bêbados; serão inteiramente consumidos como palha seca.
11 From thee hath gone forth one that devised evil against Jehovah; That meditated destruction.
De ti saiu um que pensou mal contra o Senhor, um conselheiro de Belial.
12 Thus saith Jehovah: Though they be flourishing, and likewise many, Yet shall they be cut down, and pass away; I have afflicted thee, but I will afflict thee no more.
Assim diz o Senhor: Por mais seguros que estejam, e por mais numerosos que sejam, ainda assim serão tosquiados, e ele passará: eu te afligi, porém não te afligirei mais.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, And will burst thy bonds in sunder.
Mas agora quebrarei o seu jugo de sobre ti, e romperei os teus laços.
14 And concerning thee hath Jehovah given command, That thy name shall no more be sown. From the house of thy god I will cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make thy grave; for thou hast become vile!
Porém contra ti o Senhor deu ordem, que mais ninguém do teu nome seja semeado: da casa do teu deus exterminarei as imagens de escultura e de fundição: ali te farei o teu sepulcro, porque és vil
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, That publisheth peace! Keep, O Judah, thy feasts, perform thy vows! For no more shall the destroyer pass through thee; He is utterly consumed.
Eis que sobre os montes os pés do que traz as boas novas, do que anuncia a paz! celebra as tuas festas, ó Judá, cumpre os teus votos, porque o ímpio não tornará mais a passar por ti: ele é inteiramente exterminado.
