Matthew 1
1 The genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.
第一項 キリスト人性の系圖 アブラハムの裔なるダヴィドの裔イエズス、キリストの系圖。
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brothers.
アブラハムイザアクを生み、イザアクヤコブを生み、ヤコブユダと其兄弟等とを生み、
3 And Judah begat Pharez and Zarah, by Tamar. And Pharez begat Hezron; and Hezron begat Ram;
ユダタマルによりてファレスとザラとを生み、ファレスエスロンを生み、エスロンアラムを生み、
4 and Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon begat Salmon;
アラムアミナダブを生み、アミナダブナアソンを生み、ナアソンサルモンを生み、
5 and Salmon begat Boaz by Rahab. And Boaz begat Obed by Ruth. And Obed begat Jesse;
サルモンラハブによりてボオズを生み、ボオズルトによりてオベドを生み、オベドイエッセを生み、イエッセダヴィド王を生み、
6 and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon by the wife of Uriah.
ダヴィド王ウリアの[妻]たりし者によりてサロモンを生み、
7 And Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abijah begat Asa;
サロモンロボアムを生み、ロボアムアビアを生み、アビアアザを生み、
8 and Asa begat Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Uzziah;
アザヨザファトを生み、ヨザファトヨラムを生み、ヨラムオジアを生み、
9 and Uzziah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Ahaz; and Ahaz begat Hezekiah;
オジアヨアタムを生み、ヨアタムアカズを生み、アカズエゼキアを生み、
10 and Hezekiah begat Manasseh; and Manasseh begat Amon; and Amon begat Josiah;
エゼキアマナッセを生み、マナッセアモンを生み、アモンヨジアを生み、
11 and Josiah begat Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the removal to Babylon.
バビロンに移さるる頃ヨジアイエコニアと其兄弟等とを生み、
12 And after the removal to Babylon, Jeconiah begat Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;
バビロンに移されたる後イエコニアサラチエルを生み、サラチエルゾロバベルを生み、
13 and Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
ゾロバベルアビユドを生み、アビユドエリアキムを生み、エリアキムアゾルを生み、
14 and Azor begat Zadok; and Zadok begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
アゾルサドクを生み、サドクアキムを生み、アキムエリユドを生み、
15 and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
エリユドエレアザルを生み、エレアザルマタンを生み、マタンヤコブを生み、
16 and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
ヤコブマリアの夫ヨゼフを生み、此マリアよりキリストと稱するイエズス生れ給へり。
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the removal to Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the removal to Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
然れば歴代は、総てアブラハムよりダヴィドまで十四代、ダヴィドよりバビロンに移さるるまで十四代、バビロンに移されてよりキリストまで十四代[とす]。
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this manner. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
第二項 ヨゼフとマリアとの婚姻及キリストの誕生 然てキリストの生れ給ひし次第は次の如し。其母マリアヨゼフに聘定せられしに、同居せざる前聖霊によりて懐胎せる事顕れしが、
19 Then Joseph her husband, being righteous, and not willing to expose her to shame, purposed to put her away privately.
夫ヨゼフ義人にして彼を訟ふる事を好まざれば、密に之を離別せんと思へり。
20 But while he thought on these things, lo! an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit.
是等の事を思ひ回らす折しも、主の使彼が夢に現れて云ひけるは、ダヴィドの裔ヨゼフよ、汝の妻マリアを納るる事を懼るる勿れ、蓋彼に胎れるものは聖霊によれり。
21 And she will bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus; for he will save his people from their sins.
彼一子を生まん、汝其名をイエズスと名くべし、其は自己が民を其罪より救ふべければなり、と。
22 Now all this took place, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
総て此事の成りしは、主が曾て預言者を以て曰ひし事の成就せん為なり、
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel;” that is, when interpreted, God-is with-us.
曰く「看よ童貞女懐胎して一子を生まん、其名はエンマヌエルと稱へられん」と。エンマヌエルとは我等と偕に在す神の義なり。
24 Then Joseph, on waking up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took to him his wife;
ヨゼフ睡より起きて、主の使より命ぜられし如くにして其妻を納れしが、
25 and he knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name Jesus.
牀を偕にせずして家子を生むに至れり、而して其子の名をイエズスと名けたり。
