Matthew 16
1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees came to try him, and asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
Dort traten Pharisäer und Sadduzäer an ihn heran, um ihn auszuhorchen, und forderten ihn auf, er möge sie ein Wunderzeichen vom Himmel sehen lassen.
2 And he answering said to them, When it is evening, ye say, Fair weather! for the sky is red.
Er aber erwiderte ihnen: "(Am Abend sagt ihr: 'Es wird gutes Wetter, denn der Himmel ist gerötet',
3 And in the morning, A storm today! for the sky is red and lowering. Ye know how to judge of the face of the sky, and can ye not discern the signs of the times?
und frühmorgens: 'Heute wird es stürmisch, denn der Himmel ist rötlich und trübe.' Des Himmels Aussehen wißt ihr zu deuten, und die Zeichen der Zeit versteht ihr nicht?)
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and no sign will be given to it, but the sign of Jonah. And he left them and went away.
Ein böses, gottvergessenes Geschlecht begehrt ein Zeichen; es wird ihm aber kein anderes Zeichen gegeben werden als das Zeichen des Propheten Jona." Damit wandte er sich von ihnen und ging weg.
5 And the disciples having come to the other side, had forgotten to take bread.
Als die Jünger an das andere Ufer kamen, entdeckten sie, daß sie vergessen hatten, Brot mitzunehmen.
6 And Jesus said to them, Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: "Habt acht und hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer!"
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we took no bread.
Die Jünger dachten bei sich und sprachen es auch gegeneinander aus: "Das sagt er, weil wir kein Brot mitgenommen haben."
8 And Jesus knowing it, said, Why are ye reasoning among yourselves, ye of little faith, because ye took no bread?
Jesus merkte das und sprach: "Ihr Kleingläubigen, was macht ihr euch Gedanken darüber, daß ihr kein Brot mithabt?
9 Do ye not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Fehlt's euch denn immer noch an Einsicht? Denkt ihr nicht an die fünf Brote für die Fünftausend, und wieviel große Körbe voll ihr noch mitgenommen habt?
10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Und denkt ihr nicht an die sieben Brote für die Viertausend, und wieviel kleine Körbe voll ihr noch mitgenommen habt?
11 How is it that ye do not understand, that I spoke not to you of loaves? But [[I said]] Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Seht ihr denn nicht ein, daß ich bei meinen Worten nicht an Brot gedacht habe? Hütet euch aber vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer!"
12 Then they understood, that he did not bid them beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Nun erst verstanden sie, daß er nicht gemeint hatte, sie sollten sich hüten vor dem Sauerteig der Brote, sondern vor der Lehre der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer.
13 And Jesus, having come into the region of Caesarea Philippi, asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that the Son of man is?
Hierauf kam Jesus in das Gebiet von Cäsarea Philippi. Dort frage er seine Jünger: "Wofür halten die Leute den Menschensohn?"
14 And they said, Some, John the Baptist; but some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
Sie sprachen: "Die einen halten dich für Johannes den Täufer, die anderen für Elia, wieder andere für Jeremia oder sonst einen der Propheten."
15 He saith to them, But who do ye say that I am?
Da sprach er zu ihnen: "Für wen haltet ihr mich denn?"
16 And Simon Peter answering said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Simon Petrus antwortete: "Du bist der Messias, der Sohn Gottes, des Lebendigen."
17 And Jesus answering said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon, son of Jonah; for flesh and blood did not reveal it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
Da erwiderte ihm Jesus: "Selig bist du, Simon, Jonas Sohn; denn nicht ein sterblicher Mensch von Fleisch und Blut hat dir dies offenbart, sondern mein Vater im Himmel.
18 And I on my part say to thee, that thou art Peter, a rock, and on this rock will I build my church, and the gates of the underworld shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
Und ich sage dir: Du bist Petrus, und im Anschluß an diesen Stein will ich das Haus meiner Kirche bauen, und des Totenreiches Tore sollen sie nicht bezwingen. (Hadēs g86)
19 I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever thou shalt bind on earth will be bound in heaven; and whatever thou shalt loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Ich will dir die Schlüssel des Königreichs der Himmel geben: Was du auf Erden binden wirst, das soll im Himmel gebunden sein; und was du auf Erden lösen wirst, das soll im Himmel gelöst sein."
20 Then he charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
Dann schärfte er seinen Jüngern ein, sie sollten niemand sagen, daß er der Messias sei.
21 From that time Jesus began to show to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be put to death, and rise again on the third day.
Von der Zeit an begann Jesus seinen Jüngern darzulegen: er müsse nach Jerusalem gehen und dort viel leiden von den Ältesten, Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten; ja er müsse den Tod erdulden, aber am dritten Tag wieder auferstehen.
22 Then Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord! This shall not be to thee.
Da nahm ihn Petrus beiseite, begann ihm ernste Vorstellungen zu machen und sprach: "Gott bewahre, Herr! Das darf dir nimmermehr geschehen!"
23 But he turned and said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan! thou art my stumbling-block; for thy thoughts are not on the things of God, but on those of men.
Er aber wandte sich weg und sprach zu Petrus: "Mir aus den Augen, Satan! Du willst mich verführen! Denn du denkst nicht göttlich, sondern menschlich."
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Dann sprach Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: "Wer mein Nachfolger sein will, der verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir.
25 For whoever chooseth to save his life will lose it; and whoever shall lose his life for my sake will find it.
Denn wer sein Leben retten will, der wird's verlieren; wer aber sein Leben um meinetwillen verliert, der wird es gewinnen.
26 For what will a man be profited, if be gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life?
Was nützt es dem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewinnt und dabei sein Seelenheil verliert? Oder welchen Preis kann jemand zahlen, um sich damit sein Seelenheil zu erkaufen?
27 For the Son of man is to come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then will he render to every one according to his works.
Denn der Menschensohn wird kommen in seines Vaters Herrlichkeit und in Begleitung seiner Engel; dann wird er einem jeden nach seinem Tun vergelten. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einige von denen, die hier stehen, sollen den Tod nicht schmecken, ehe sie den Menschensohn in seiner Königsherrschaft haben kommen sehen."
28 Truly do I say to you, There are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
