Matthew 13
1 The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the shore of the lake;
Ce jour-là, Jésus sortit de la maison et s'assit au bord de la mer.
2 and great multitudes were gathered together to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and all the multitude stood on the beach.
De grandes foules s'assemblèrent auprès de lui, de sorte qu'il monta dans une barque et s'assit; et toute la foule se tenait sur la plage.
3 And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow.
Il leur parla de beaucoup de choses en paraboles, et dit: Voici un paysan qui est sorti pour semer.
4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
Comme il semait, des graines tombèrent au bord du chemin, et les oiseaux vinrent les dévorer.
5 And others fell upon rocky places, where they had not much earth; and they sprung up immediately, because they had no depth of earth.
D'autres tombèrent sur un terrain rocailleux, où il n'y avait pas beaucoup de terre, et aussitôt elles poussèrent, parce qu'elles n'avaient pas de profondeur de terre.
6 But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
Quand le soleil s'est levé, elles ont été brûlées. Comme elles n'avaient pas de racine, elles se desséchèrent.
7 And others fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up, and choked them.
D'autres sont tombées parmi les épines. Les épines ont poussé et les ont étouffées.
8 And others fell upon good ground; and yielded fruit, some a hundred fold, some Sixty, some thirty fold.
D'autres sont tombés dans la bonne terre et ont donné du fruit: les uns cent fois plus, les autres soixante, les autres trente.
9 He that hath ears, let him hear.
Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre entende. »
10 And the disciples came and said to him, Why dost thou speak to them in parables?
Les disciples, s'approchant, lui dirent: « Pourquoi leur parles-tu en paraboles? »
11 He answered and said, Because to you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it hath not been given.
Il leur répondit: « Il vous est donné de connaître les mystères du Royaume des Cieux, mais il ne leur est pas donné à eux.
12 For whoever hath, to him will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever hath not, from him will be taken away even what he hath.
En effet, à celui qui a, il sera donné, et il aura l'abondance; mais à celui qui n'a pas, même ce qu'il a lui sera ôté.
13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, nor understand.
C'est pourquoi je leur parle en paraboles, parce que, voyant, ils ne voient pas, et qu'entendant, ils n'entendent pas, et ne comprennent pas.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, “Ye will hear indeed, and not understand; and ye will see indeed, and not perceive.
En eux s'accomplit la prophétie d'Ésaïe, qui dit, C'est en entendant que vous entendrez, et ne comprendront en aucun cas; En voyant, vous verrez, et ne sera en aucun cas perçu;
15 For this people's heart hath become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn from their ways, and I should heal them.”
car le cœur de ce peuple est devenu insensible, leurs oreilles sont sourdes, et ils ont fermé leurs yeux; ou alors ils pourraient peut-être percevoir avec leurs yeux, entendent avec leurs oreilles, comprennent avec leur cœur, et se tournerait à nouveau, et je les guérirais.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.
« Mais bénis soient vos yeux, car ils voient, et vos oreilles, car elles entendent.
17 Truly do I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear them.
Car, en vérité, je vous le dis, beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir les choses que vous voyez, et ne les ont pas vues; et entendre les choses que vous entendez, et ne les ont pas entendues.
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
« Écoutez donc la parabole du cultivateur.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the Evil One cometh, and snatcheth away that which was sown in his heart; this man is what was sown by the wayside.
Quand quelqu'un entend la parole du Royaume et ne la comprend pas, le malin vient et arrache ce qui a été semé dans son cœur. Voici ce qui a été semé au bord du chemin.
20 And what was sown on the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy,
Ce qui a été semé sur les rochers, c'est celui qui entend la parole et qui la reçoit aussitôt avec joie;
21 but, having no root within him, endureth only for a time; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth on account of the word, he immediately falleth away.
mais il n'a pas de racine en lui-même, il ne fait qu'endurer pour un temps. Quand l'oppression ou la persécution survient à cause de la parole, aussitôt il chancelle.
22 And what was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
Ce qui a été semé parmi les épines, c'est celui qui entend la parole; mais les soucis du siècle présent et la séduction des richesses étouffent la parole, et il devient stérile. (aiōn g165)
23 And what was sown on the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who also beareth fruit, and yieldeth, one a hundred fold, another sixty, another thirty fold.
Ce qui a été semé dans la bonne terre, c'est celui qui entend la parole et la comprend, qui porte certainement du fruit et produit, les uns cent fois plus, les autres soixante, les autres trente. »
24 Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un homme qui a semé de la bonne semence dans son champ.
25 But while men slept, his enemy came, and sowed tares among the wheat; and went away.
Pendant que les gens dormaient, son ennemi vint et sema aussi de l'ivraie parmi le blé, puis il s'en alla.
26 But when the blade grew up, and put forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Mais quand l'herbe a poussé et produit du grain, l'ivraie est apparue aussi.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? Whence then hath it tares?
Les serviteurs du maître de maison vinrent lui dire: « Monsieur, n'avez-vous pas semé de bonnes graines dans votre champ? D'où viennent ces ivraies?
28 He said to them, An enemy did this. The servants say to him, Dost thou wish then that we go and gather them up?
« Il leur dit: « C'est un ennemi qui a fait cela ». « Les serviteurs lui demandèrent: « Veux-tu que nous allions les ramasser?".
29 But he said, Nay; lest, while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them.
Mais il répondit: « Non, de peur qu'en arrachant l'ivraie, vous ne déraciniez le blé avec elle.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles, to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.
Laissez-les pousser ensemble jusqu'à la moisson, et à l'époque de la moisson, je dirai aux moissonneurs: « Ramassez d'abord l'ivraie, et liez-la en bottes pour la brûler; mais amassez le blé dans mon grenier. »"
31 Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard, which a man took and sowed in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de sénevé qu'un homme a pris et semé dans son champ,
32 Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.
et qui est plus petit que toutes les semences. Mais quand il a poussé, il est plus grand que les herbes et devient un arbre, de sorte que les oiseaux du ciel viennent se loger dans ses branches. »
33 Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Il leur dit encore une autre parabole. « Le Royaume des cieux est semblable à du levain qu'une femme a pris et caché dans trois mesures de farine, jusqu'à ce que tout soit levé. »
34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, and without a parable he spoke nothing to them;
Jésus a dit toutes ces choses en paraboles aux foules; et sans parabole, il ne leur a pas parlé,
35 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation [[of the world]].”
afin que s'accomplisse ce qui avait été annoncé par le prophète, en disant, « J'ouvrirai ma bouche en paraboles; Je vais révéler des choses cachées depuis la fondation du monde. »
36 Then he sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.
Alors Jésus renvoya la foule, et entra dans la maison. Ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui, en disant: « Explique-nous la parabole de l'ivraie des champs. »
37 He answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man.
Il leur répondit: Celui qui sème la bonne graine, c'est le Fils de l'homme;
38 The field is the world; the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; but the tares are the sons of the Evil One;
le champ, c'est le monde; les bonnes graines, ce sont les enfants du Royaume; l'ivraie, ce sont les enfants du malin.
39 the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (aiōn g165)
L'ennemi qui les a semées, c'est le diable. La moisson, c'est la fin du monde, et les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
40 As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the world. (aiōn g165)
Comme donc l'ivraie est ramassée et brûlée au feu, il en sera de même à la fin de ce siècle. (aiōn g165)
41 The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity,
Le Fils de l'homme enverra ses anges, qui arracheront de son royaume tous les scandales et ceux qui commettent l'iniquité,
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
et les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente. Il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
43 Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.
Alors les justes brilleront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre entende.
44 The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hid in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy thereof he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
« Encore une fois, le Royaume des Cieux est semblable à un trésor caché dans un champ, qu'un homme a trouvé et caché. Dans sa joie, il va vendre tout ce qu'il a et achète ce champ.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking goodly pearls.
« Encore une fois, le Royaume des Cieux est semblable à un marchand qui cherche de belles perles,
46 And having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
et qui, ayant trouvé une perle de grand prix, alla vendre tout ce qu'il avait et l'acheta.
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, cast into the sea, and bringing together fish of every kind;
« Encore une fois, le Royaume des Cieux est semblable à une épuisette qu'on a jetée dans la mer et qui a recueilli des poissons de toute espèce,
48 which, when it was full, they drew upon the beach, and sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.
et que, lorsqu'elle a été remplie, les pêcheurs ont ramenée sur la plage. Ils se sont assis et ont rassemblé les bons dans des récipients, mais ils ont jeté les mauvais.
49 So will it be at the end of the world. The angels will come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous, (aiōn g165)
Il en sera de même à la fin du monde. Les anges viendront, sépareront les méchants d'avec les justes, (aiōn g165)
50 and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
et les jetteront dans la fournaise de feu. Il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents. »
51 Did ye understand all these things? They say to him, Yea.
Jésus leur dit: « Avez-vous compris toutes ces choses? » Ils lui répondirent: « Oui, Seigneur. »
52 And he said to them, Thus then every scribe, instructed for the kingdom of heaven, is like a householder, who bringeth out from his storehouse things new and old.
Il leur dit: « C'est pourquoi tout scribe qui a été fait disciple dans le Royaume des cieux est semblable à un maître de maison qui tire de son trésor des choses nouvelles et des choses anciennes. »
53 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these parables, that he departed thence.
Lorsque Jésus eut achevé ces paraboles, il s'en alla de là.
54 And having come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and the miracles?
Arrivé dans son pays, il les enseignait dans leur synagogue, de sorte qu'ils étaient étonnés et disaient: « D'où lui viennent cette sagesse et ces miracles?
55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
N'est-ce pas le fils du charpentier? Sa mère ne s'appelle-t-elle pas Marie, et ses frères Jacques, Joses, Simon et Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
Toutes ses sœurs ne sont-elles pas avec nous? Où donc cet homme a-t-il trouvé toutes ces choses? »
57 And they took offence at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house.
Ils furent offensés par lui. Mais Jésus leur dit: « Un prophète n'est pas sans honneur, si ce n'est dans son pays et dans sa maison. »
58 And he did not work many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
Il n'y a pas fait beaucoup de miracles à cause de leur incrédulité.
