Matthew 12
1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath through the grain-fields; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of grain, and to eat.
Zu jener Zeit ging Jesus an einem Sabbat durch Getreidefelder. Seine Jünger aber hatten Hunger; darum begannen sie, Ähren abzureißen und die Körner zu essen.
2 But the Pharisees, seeing it, said to him, Lo! thy disciples are doing that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath.
Das sahen die Pharisäer und sprachen zu ihm: "Sieh, deine Jünger tun, was nicht erlaubt ist am Sabbat."
3 But he said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he and those who were with him were hungry?
Er aber antwortete ihnen: "Habt ihr nicht gelesen, was David tat, als ihn und seine Begleiter hungerte?
4 how he went into the house of God, and they ate the show-bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but for the priests alone?
Wie er in das Haus Gottes trat und die Schaubrote aß, die doch er und seine Begleiter nicht essen durften, sondern nur die Priester?
5 Or have ye not read in the Law, that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
Habt ihr ferner nicht gelesen im Gesetz, daß die Priester im Tempel auch am Sabbat tätig sind, ohne sich zu versündigen?
6 But I say to you, that something greater than the temple is here.
Doch ich sage euch: Hier ist etwas Größeres als der Tempel.
7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice,” ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
Verstündet ihr aber die Bedeutung des Wortes: Barmherzigkeit will ich und nicht Opfer, so hättet ihr die Schuldlosen nicht verurteilt.
8 For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.
Denn der Menschensohn ist Herr des Sabbats."
9 And departing thence, he went into their synagogue.
Als er von dort weiterging, kam er in ihr Versammlungshaus.
10 And, lo! there was a man having a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him.
Da war ein Mann mit einem abgestorbenen Arm, und sie fragten ihn: "Ist es erlaubt, am Sabbat zu heilen?" Denn sie suchten einen Grund, ihn zu verklagen.
11 And he said to them, Who of you that owneth one sheep, if it fall into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold of it, and lift it out?
Er aber antwortete ihnen: "Fiele einem von euch am Sabbat sein einziges Schaf in eine Grube, zöge er's da nicht sofort heraus?
12 Of how much more worth now is a man than a sheep! So then it is lawful to do well on the sabbath.
Steht nun ein Mensch nicht hoch über einem Schaf? Also darf man auch am Sabbat Gutes tun."
13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored sound as the other.
Dann sprach er zu dem Mann: "Strecke deinen Arm aus!" Da streckte er ihn aus, und er ward wiederhergestellt und gesund wie der andere.
14 Then the Pharisees went out, and consulted together against him, how they might destroy him.
Als dann die Pharisäer den Gottesdienst verließen, berieten sie sich miteinander wider ihn, wie sie ihn zu Tode bringen könnten.
15 But Jesus, knowing it, withdrew from thence; and many followed him; and he healed them all,
Aber Jesus erfuhr das und verließ jene Gegend. Viele begleiteten ihn, und er heilte alle.
16 and strictly charged them not to make him known;
Aber er schärfte ihnen ein, sie sollten ihn nicht öffentlich bekanntmachen,
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
damit sich der Ausspruch des Propheten Jesaja erfüllte:
18 “Behold my servant, whom I chose; my beloved, with whom my soul is well pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will declare judgment to the nations.
Das ist mein Knecht, den ich erwählt, und mein Geliebter, den mein Herz erkoren. Ich lege meinen Geist auf ihn, und er soll den Völkern Recht verkünden.
19 He will not strive, nor cry aloud, nor will any one hear his voice in the streets.
Er wird nicht zanken und nicht schreien, und seine Stimme schallt nicht auf den Straßen.
20 A bruised reed he will not break, and smoking flax he will not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
Geknicktes Rohr zerbricht er nicht, und glimmenden Docht löscht er nicht aus, bis er das Recht zu Sieg geführt.
21 And in his name will nations hope.”
Und auf seinen Namen werden die Völker hoffen.
22 Then was brought to him one possessed by a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw.
Da wurde ein Besessener zu ihm gebracht, der war blind und stumm. Und er heilte ihn, so daß der Stumme redete und sah.
23 And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Is this the son of David?
Da waren die Leute alle außer sich und sprachen: "Ist der etwa Davids Sohn?"
24 But the Pharisees, hearing it, said, This man doth not cast out the demons, except through Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.
Als aber die Pharisäer davon hörten, sagten sie: "Nur im Bunde mit Beelzebul, dem Obersten der bösen Geister, treibt er die Teufel aus."
25 And he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and no city or house divided against itself will stand.
Er aber durchschaute ihre Gedanken und sprach zu ihnen: "Jedes Reich, das in sich selbst uneins ist, das fällt in Trümmer; und jede Stadt oder jedes Haus, das in sich selbst uneins ist, kann nicht bestehen.
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?
Treibt nun der Satan den Satan aus, so ist er ja mit sich selbst im Streit: wie sollte da sein Reich bestehen können?
27 And if I cast out the demons through Beelzebul, through whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore shall they be judges of you.
Treibe ich aber im Bunde mit Beelzebul die bösen Geister aus, mit wessen Hilfe treiben sie denn eure Anhänger aus? Sie werden darum eure Richter sein!
28 But if I cast out the demons through the Spirit of God, then hath the kingdom of God already come to you.
Treibe ich aber durch Gottes Geist die bösen Geister aus, so ist ja Gottes Königreich zu euch gekommen.
29 Or how can one enter into a strong man's house, and seize upon his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then plunder his house?
Oder wie kann jemand in das Haus eines starken Kriegsmannes dringen und ihm seinen Hausrat rauben, wenn er nicht zuvor den Starken bindet? Erst dann kann er sein Haus berauben.
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Wer nicht mit mir ist, der ist gegen mich; und wer nicht mit mir sammelt, der zerstreut.
31 Therefore I say to you, All manner of sin and evil-speaking will be forgiven to men; but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
Darum sage ich euch: Jede Sünde und Lästerung wird den Menschen vergeben, die Lästerung des Geistes aber wird nicht vergeben.
32 And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this world, or in the world to come. (aiōn g165)
Wer ein Wort sagt gegen den Menschensohn, dem wird vergeben. Wer aber wider den Heiligen Geist redet, der findet keine Vergebung: weder in dieser Weltzeit noch in der zukünftigen. (aiōn g165)
33 Either say that the tree is good, and its fruit good; or say that the tree is bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers!
Erklärt ihr den Baum für gut, so müßt ihr auch seine Frucht für gut halten. Erklärt ihr aber den Baum für schädlich, so müßt ihr auch seine Frucht für schädlich halten. Denn an der Frucht erkennt man den Baum.
34 How can ye, evil as ye are, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Ihr Schlangenbrut! wie könnt ihr Gutes reden, da ihr böse seid? Denn des Mundes Worte fließen aus des Herzens Quell.
35 The good man, from his good treasure, bringeth out good things; and the evil man, from his evil treasure, bringeth out evil things.
Ein guter Mensch entnimmt aus seiner guten Vorratskammer Gutes; ein böser Mensch entnimmt aus seiner bösen Vorratskammer Böses.
36 And I say to you, that for every idle word that men shall speak, they will give account in the day of judgment.
Ich versichere euch aber: Von jedem bösen Worte, das die Menschen reden, müssen sie am Tage des Gerichtes Rechenschaft geben.
37 For by thy words thou wilt be justified, and by thy words thou wilt be condemned.
Denn nach deinen Worten sollst du freigesprochen und nach deinen Worten sollst du verurteilt werden."
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, Teacher, we wish to see a sign from thee.
Da redeten ihn einige Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer an und sprachen: "Meister, wir wünschen von dir ein Zeichen zu sehen."
39 But he answered and said to them, A wicked and adulterous generation is seeking for a sign; and no sign will be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Er antwortete ihnen: "Ein böses, gottvergessenes Geschlecht begehrt ein Zeichen. Es soll ihm aber kein anderes Zeichen gegeben werden als das Zeichen des Propheten Jona.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Denn wie Jona drei Tage und drei Nächte in des Riesenfisches Leib gewesen ist, so wird auch der Menschensohn drei Tage und drei Nächte im Schoß der Erde sein.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, lo! something more than Jonah is here.
Die Leute aus Ninive werden zugleich mit diesen Geschlecht vor Gericht erscheinen und es verurteilen; denn sie bekehrten sich bei Jonas Predigt. Und hier steht doch einer, der größer ist als Jona!
42 The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and lo! something more than Solomon is here.
Die Königin aus Süden wird zugleich mit diesem Geschlecht vor Gericht erscheinen und es verurteilen; denn sie kam vom Ende der Erde, um Salomos Weisheit zu hören. Und hier steht doch einer, der größer ist als Salomo!
43 But when the unclean spirit is gone out from a man, it goeth through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth it not.
Ist der unreine Geist von einem Menschen ausgefahren, so wandert er durch Wüsten: er sucht dort eine Ruhstatt und findet keine.
44 Then it saith, I will return to my house whence I came out. And on coming, it findeth it empty, and swept, and put in order.
Dann spricht er: 'Ich will zurückgehen in mein Haus, das ich verlassen habe.' Und kommt er dann, so findet er es leer, gefegt und wohlgeschmückt.
45 Then it goeth and taketh with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter in, and dwell there; and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. So will it be also with this wicked generation.
Nun geht er hin und holt noch sieben andere Geister, die schlimmer sind als er: die ziehen ein und wohnen dort. So wird's mit einem solchen Menschen am Ende ärger als zuvor. Ganz ebenso wird es auch gehen mit diesem bösen Geschlecht."
46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, lo! his mother and his brothers were standing without, seeking to speak with him.
Als er noch zum dem Volke redete, siehe, da standen seine Mutter und seine Brüder draußen und wünschten ihn zu sprechen.
47 And one said to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brothers are standing without, seeking to speak with thee.
48 But he answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?
Er aber antwortete dem, der ihm dies meldete: "Wer ist meine Mutter, und wer sind meine Brüder?"
49 And stretching forth his hand toward his disciples, be said, Behold, my mother and my brothers!
Dann wies er mit ausgestreckter Hand auf seine Jünger und sprach: "Da seht meine Mutter und meine Brüder!
50 For whoever doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Denn wer den Willen meines Vaters im Himmel tut, der ist mir Bruder, Schwester und Mutter."
