Matthew 1
1 The genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.
Dies ist das Buch von der Geburt Jesu Christi, der da ist ein Sohn Davids, des Sohnes Abrahams.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brothers.

3 And Judah begat Pharez and Zarah, by Tamar. And Pharez begat Hezron; and Hezron begat Ram;

4 and Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon begat Salmon;

5 and Salmon begat Boaz by Rahab. And Boaz begat Obed by Ruth. And Obed begat Jesse;

6 and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon by the wife of Uriah.

7 And Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abijah begat Asa;
Salomo zeugete Roboam. Roboam zeugete Abia. Abia zeugete Assa.
8 and Asa begat Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Uzziah;
Assa zeugete Josaphat. Josaphat zeugete Joram. Joram zeugte Osia.
9 and Uzziah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Ahaz; and Ahaz begat Hezekiah;
Osia zeugete Jotham. Jotham zeugete Achas. Achas zeugete Ezechia.
10 and Hezekiah begat Manasseh; and Manasseh begat Amon; and Amon begat Josiah;
Ezechia zeugete Manasse. Manasse zeugete Amon. Amon zeugete Josia.
11 and Josiah begat Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the removal to Babylon.
Josia zeugete Jechonia und seine Brüder um die Zeit der babylonischen Gefangenschaft.
12 And after the removal to Babylon, Jeconiah begat Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;
Nach der babylonischen Gefangenschaft zeugete Jechonia Sealthiel. Sealthiel zeugete Zorobabel.
13 and Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
Zorobabel zeugete Abiud. Abiud zeugete Eliachim. Eliachim zeugete Asor.
14 and Azor begat Zadok; and Zadok begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
Asor zeugete Zadoch. Zadoch zeugete Achin. Achin zeugete Eliud.
15 and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
Eliud zeugete Eleasar. Eleasar zeugete Matthan. Matthan zeugete Jakob.
16 and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
Jakob zeugete Joseph, den Mann Marias, von welcher ist geboren Jesus, der da heißet Christus.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the removal to Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the removal to Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Alle Glieder von Abraham bis auf David sind vierzehn Glieder. Von David bis auf die babylonische Gefangenschaft sind vierzehn Glieder. Von der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis auf Christum sind vierzehn Glieder.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this manner. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
Die Geburt Christi war aber also getan. Als Maria, seine Mutter, dem Joseph vertrauet war, ehe er sie heimholete, erfand sich's, daß sie schwanger war von dem Heiligen Geist.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being righteous, and not willing to expose her to shame, purposed to put her away privately.
Joseph aber, ihr Mann, war fromm und wollte sie nicht rügen, gedachte aber sie heimlich zu verlassen.
20 But while he thought on these things, lo! an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit.
Indem er aber also gedachte, siehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des HERRN im Traum und sprach: Joseph, du Sohn Davids fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Gemahl, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr geboren ist, das ist von dem Heiligen Geist.
21 And she will bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus; for he will save his people from their sins.
Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, des Namen sollst du Jesus heißen; denn er wird sein Volk selig machen von ihren Sünden.
22 Now all this took place, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
Das ist aber alles geschehen, auf daß erfüllet würde, was der HERR durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel;” that is, when interpreted, God-is with-us.
Siehe, eine Jungfrau wird schwanger sein und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen Emanuel heißen, das ist verdolmetschet, Gott mit uns.
24 Then Joseph, on waking up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took to him his wife;
Da nun Joseph vom Schlaf erwachte, tat er, wie ihm des HERRN Engel befohlen hatte, und nahm sein Gemahl zu sich.
25 and he knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name Jesus.
Und erkannte sie nicht, bis sie ihren ersten Sohn gebar, und hieß seinen Namen Jesus.
