Mark 1
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ;
Ukuqala kwevangeli ngoJesu Khristu, indodana kaNkulunkulu.
2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way;”
Kulotshiwe kumphrofethi u-Isaya ukuthi: “Ngizathuma isithunywa sami phambi kwakho, esizalungisa indlela yakho”:
3 “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths!”
“ilizwi lalowo omemezayo enkangala, ‘Lungiselani iNkosi indlela, yenzeleni izindledlana eziqondileyo.’”
4 John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Kwasekufika uJohane Umbhaphathizi, etshumayela emangweni wasenkangala ubhaphathizo lokuphenduka ukuze kuthethelelwe izono.
5 And there went out to him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
Umango wonke waseJudiya kanye labantu bonke baseJerusalema baphuma baya kuye. Bevuma izono zabo, babhaphathizwa nguye eMfuleni uJodani.
6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a leathern girdle about his loins, and he ate locusts and wild honey.
UJohane wayevunula izigqoko ezazenziwe ngoboya bekamela, elebhanti lesikhumba okhalweni lwakhe, esidla intethe loluju lwezinyosi zeganga.
7 And he preached, saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
Intshumayelo yakhe yayisithi: “Ngemva kwami kuzafika omunye ozaba lamandla kulami, imichilo yamanyathela akhe akungilingananga ukuthi ngikhothame ngiyithukulule.
8 I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
Mina ngilibhaphathiza ngamanzi, kodwa yena uzalibhaphathiza ngoMoya oNgcwele.”
9 And it came to pass that in those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Ngalesosikhathi uJesu weza evela eNazaretha eseGalile wabhaphathizwa nguJohane kuJodani.
10 And immediately on coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens parted, and the Spirit descending as a dove upon him.
UJesu ephuma emanzini wabona izulu livuleka uMoya usehlela phezu kwakhe unjengejuba.
11 And there was a voice from the heavens, “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.”
Kwafika ilizwi livela ezulwini lathi: “Wena uyiNdodana yami engiyithandayo; ngiyathokoza kakhulu ngawe.”
12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness.
Masinyane uMoya wamthumela enkangala,
13 And he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
wahlala khona enkangala insuku ezingamatshumi amane elingwa nguSathane. Wayehlala lezinyamazana zeganga, izingilosi zazomnakekela.
14 But after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the glad tidings of God,

15 [[saying, ]] The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the glad tidings.

16 And as he was passing along by the lake of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon dragging a net in the lake; for they were fishers.
Kwathi uJesu ehambahamba okhunjini loLwandle lwaseGalile wabona uSimoni lomfowabo u-Andreya bephosa umambule olwandle ngoba babengabagoli benhlanzi.
17 And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will cause you to become fishers of men.
Wathi kubo, “Wozani lingilandele, ngizalenza abagoli babantu.”
18 And immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
Bahle batshiya omambule babo bamlandela.
19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets;
Wathi esehambile elinye ibanga wabona uJakhobe indodana kaZebhediya elomfowabo uJohane besesikepeni, belungisa omambule babo.
20 and immediately he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, they went after him.
Wahle wababiza, batshiya uyise uZebhediya esikepeni kanye lezisebenzi bamlandela.
21 And they enter Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he was teaching in the synagogue.
Baya eKhaphenawume, kwathi iSabatha selifikile, uJesu waya esinagogeni waqalisa ukufundisa.
22 And they were astonished at his teaching; for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
Abantu bamangaliswa yikufundisa kwakhe ngoba wayefundisa njengomuntu olamandla, hatshi njengabafundisi bomthetho.
23 And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,
Khonokho nje indoda eyayisesinagogeni labo eyayiphethwe ngumoya omubi yamemeza yathi,
24 saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Thou hast come to destroy us; we know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
“Ufunani kithi, Jesu waseNazaretha? Ulande ukuza sibhubhisa na? Ngiyakwazi ukuthi ungubani, ungoNgcwele kaNkulunkulu!”
25 And Jesus rebuked him, [[saying, ]] Be silent, and come out of him.
UJesu wakhwaza wathi kuye “Thula! Phuma kuye!”
26 And the unclean spirit convulsing him, and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.
Umoya omubi wayidlukuza ngamandla indoda waphuma kuyo uklabalala.
27 And they were all amazed, so that they questioned each other, saying, What is this? New teaching with authority; even the unclean spirits doth he command, and they obey him!
Abantu bamangala baze babuzana bathi, “Kuyini lokhu? Yikufundisa okutsha njalo okulamandla! Ngoba ulaya imimoya emibi imlalele.”
28 And immediately his fame spread abroad everywhere through the whole surrounding country of Galilee.
Izindaba ngaye zamemetheka ngokuphangisa kuwo wonke umango waseGalile.
29 And having come out of the synagogue, they immediately entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
Bonela ukusuka esinagogeni bahamba loJakhobe loJohane baya emzini kaSimoni lo-Andreya.
30 And Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever; and they immediately speak to him about her.
Uninazala kaSimoni wayelele phansi ephethwe ngumkhuhlane, basebetshela uJesu ngaye.
31 And he went to her, and took her by the hand, and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she waited on them.
Ngakho wasesiya kuye, wambamba isandla wasemvusa. Umkhuhlane waphuma kuye, wahle waqalisa ukubaphakela.
32 And in the evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were sick, and those who were possessed by demons;
Ngaleyontambama ilanga selitshonile abantu baletha kuJesu bonke abagulayo labaphethwe ngamadimoni.
33 and the whole city was assembled at the door.
Idolobho lonke lagcwala emnyango,
34 And he healed many that were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.
uJesu wasilisa abanengi ababelezifo ezehlukeneyo. Njalo wakhupha amadimoni amanengi, kodwa kaze awavumela amadimoni ukuthi akhulume ngoba ayemazi ukuthi ungubani.
35 And rising early, long before day, he went out, and withdrew into a desert place, and there prayed.
Ekuseni kakhulu, kusesempondozankomo, uJesu wavuka, waphuma endlini waya endaweni esekusithekeni, lapho akhuleka khona.
36 And Simon and those with him went in search of him,
USimoni labakhula bakhe bahamba ukuyamdinga,
37 and found him. And they say to him, All people are in search of thee.
sebembonile, bathi, “Abantu bonke bayakudinga!”
38 And he saith to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighboring towns, that I may preach there also; for, for this I came forth.
UJesu waphendula wathi, “Kasiyeni kwenye indawo, emizini eseduze ukuze ngiyetshumayela lakhona. Yikho engakulandayo.”
39 And he went, preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out the demons.
Kanjalo walibhoda lonke elaseGalile etshumayela emasinagogweni abo njalo ekhupha amadimoni.
40 And there cometh a leper to him beseeching him, and kneeling down, saying to him, If thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me.
Kweza kuye indoda eyayilobulephero yamncenga iguqe phansi ngamadolo yathi, “Nxa uthanda ungangihlambulula.”
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith, I will; be thou cleansed.
UJesu eyizwela isihawu welula isandla sakhe wayibamba indoda. Wathi, “Ngiyathanda. Hlanzeka!”
42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
Masinyane ubulephero baphela, wahlambuluka.
43 And sternly charging him, he immediately sent him away,
UJesu wahle wathi kahambe, wamqonqosela wathi,
44 saying to him, See that thou say nothing to any one; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
“Zwana, ungatsheli muntu ngalokhu. Kodwa hamba uyeziveza kumphristi ubusunikela umhlatshelo wokuhlanjululwa kwakho owamiswa nguMosi ukuze kube yibufakazi kubo.”
45 But he went away, and began to publish it constantly, and to spread the matter abroad, so that Jesus could no more enter a city openly, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.
Kodwa wasuka wahle wavula isifuba sakhe wayisakaza indaba. Ngenxa yalokho uJesu wayengabe esangena obala edolobheni, kodwa wasehlala ngaphandle endaweni eziyinkangala. Loba kunjalo abantu babelokhu bethululeka besiza kuye beqhamuka inxa zonke.
