Mark 1
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ;
૧ઈશ્વરના દીકરા ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તની આ સુવાર્તાની શરૂઆત.
2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way;”
૨જેમ યશાયા પ્રબોધકના પુસ્તકમાં લખેલું છે કે, ‘જો, હું તારી આગળ મારા સંદેશવાહકને મોકલું છું; તે તારી આગળ તારો માર્ગ તૈયાર કરશે;
3 “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths!”
૩અરણ્યમાં પોકારનારની વાણી એવી છે કે પ્રભુનો માર્ગ તૈયાર કરો, તેમના રસ્તા સીધા કરો.
4 John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
૪એ પ્રમાણે યોહાન બાપ્તિસ્મા અરણ્યમાં પાપોની માફીને માટે પસ્તાવાનું બાપ્તિસ્મા જાહેર કરતો પ્રગટ થયો.
5 And there went out to him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
૫આખા યહૂદિયા દેશના તથા યરુશાલેમના રહેવાસીઓ તેમની પાસે ગયા; અને બધા પોતાનાં પાપ કબૂલ કરીને યર્દન નદીમાં તેનાથી બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા.
6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a leathern girdle about his loins, and he ate locusts and wild honey.
૬યોહાનનો પોશાક ઊંટના વાળનો હતો, તેની કમરે ચામડાનો પટ્ટો હતો અને તીડ તથા જંગલી મધ તેનો ખોરાક હતો.
7 And he preached, saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
૭તેણે એવું પ્રગટ કર્યું કે, મારા કરતાં જે સામર્થ્યવાન છે તે મારી પાછળ આવે છે; હું તો વાંકો વળીને તેમના ચંપલની દોરી છોડવા યોગ્ય નથી.
8 I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
૮હું પાણીથી તમારું બાપ્તિસ્મા કરું છું, પણ તે પવિત્ર આત્માથી તમારું બાપ્તિસ્મા કરશે.’”
9 And it came to pass that in those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
૯તે દિવસોમાં એમ થયું કે, ઈસુ ગાલીલના નાસરેથથી આવ્યા અને યર્દનમાં યોહાનથી બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા;
10 And immediately on coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens parted, and the Spirit descending as a dove upon him.
૧૦પછી તરત પાણીમાંથી બહાર આવતાં તેમણે સ્વર્ગો ખુલ્લાં થયેલા તથા પવિત્ર આત્માને કબૂતરની જેમ પોતાના પર ઊતરતા જોયા,
11 And there was a voice from the heavens, “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.”
૧૧અને સ્વર્ગોમાંથી વાણી થઈ કે, ‘તું મારો વહાલો દીકરો છે, તારા પર હું પ્રસન્ન છું.’”
12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness.
૧૨તરત આત્મા તેમને અરણ્યમાં લઈ ગયા;
13 And he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
૧૩અરણ્યમાં ચાળીસ દિવસ સુધી શેતાનથી તેમનું પરીક્ષણ થયું; ત્યાં જંગલી પશુઓ સાથે તેઓ હતા; અને સ્વર્ગદૂતોએ તેમની સેવા કરી.
14 But after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the glad tidings of God,
૧૪યોહાનની ધરપકડ કરાયા પછી ઈસુ ગાલીલમાં આવ્યા અને ઈશ્વરની સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરતાં તેમણે કહ્યું કે,
15 [[saying, ]] The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the glad tidings.
૧૫‘સમય પૂરો થયો છે, ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય પાસે આવ્યું છે; પસ્તાવો કરો અને સુવાર્તા પર વિશ્વાસ કરો.’”
16 And as he was passing along by the lake of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon dragging a net in the lake; for they were fishers.
૧૬તેમણે ગાલીલના સમુદ્રને કિનારે ચાલતાં સિમોન તથા તેના ભાઈ આન્દ્રિયાને સમુદ્રમાં જાળ નાખતા જોયાં; કેમ કે તેઓ માછીમાર હતા.
17 And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will cause you to become fishers of men.
૧૭ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘મારી પાછળ આવો અને હું તમને માણસો પકડનારા કરીશ.’”
18 And immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
૧૮તરત તેઓ પોતાની જાળો પડતી મૂકીને તેમની સાથે ગયા.
19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets;
૧૯ત્યાંથી થોડે આગળ જતા તેમણે ઝબદીના દીકરા યાકૂબને તથા તેના ભાઈ યોહાનને હોડીમાં જાળો સાંધતા જોયા.
20 and immediately he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, they went after him.
૨૦ઈસુએ તરત જ તેઓને બોલાવ્યા; અને તેઓ પોતાના પિતા ઝબદીને મજૂરોની સાથે હોડીમાં રહેવા દઈને તેમની પાછળ ગયા.
21 And they enter Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he was teaching in the synagogue.
૨૧તેઓ કપરનાહૂમમાં ગયા; અને વિશ્રામવારે સભાસ્થાનમાં જઈને ઈસુએ બોધ આપ્યો.
22 And they were astonished at his teaching; for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
૨૨લોકો તેમના બોધથી નવાઈ પામ્યા; કેમ કે તેમણે તેઓને શાસ્ત્રીઓની જેમ નહિ, પણ જેને અધિકાર હોય છે તેની માફક બોધ કર્યો.
23 And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,
૨૩તે જ સમયે તેઓના સભાસ્થાનમાં અશુદ્ધ આત્મા વળગેલો એક માણસ હતો. તેણે બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું કે,
24 saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Thou hast come to destroy us; we know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
૨૪‘અરે, નાસરેથના ઈસુ, અમારે અને તમારે શું છે? શું તમે અમારો નાશ કરવા આવ્યા છો? તમે કોણ છો, એ હું જાણું છું, એટલે ઈશ્વરના પવિત્ર.’”
25 And Jesus rebuked him, [[saying, ]] Be silent, and come out of him.
૨૫ઈસુએ તેને ધમકાવતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘ચૂપ રહે, અને તેનામાંથી નીકળી જા’.
26 And the unclean spirit convulsing him, and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.
૨૬અશુદ્ધ આત્માએ તેને વીંઝી નાખ્યો તથા મોટી બૂમ પાડીને તેનામાંથી નીકળી ગયો.
27 And they were all amazed, so that they questioned each other, saying, What is this? New teaching with authority; even the unclean spirits doth he command, and they obey him!
૨૭બધા એવા અચરત થયા કે તેઓ અંદરોઅંદર પૂછવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘આ શું છે? આ તો નવો બોધ છે! કેમ કે અધિકારથી તેઓ અશુદ્ધ આત્માઓને પણ આજ્ઞા કરે છે અને તેઓ તેમનું માને છે.’”
28 And immediately his fame spread abroad everywhere through the whole surrounding country of Galilee.
૨૮તરત તેમની કીર્તિ આખા ગાલીલ પ્રાંતમાં ફેલાઈ ગઈ.
29 And having come out of the synagogue, they immediately entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
૨૯તેઓ તરત જ સભાસ્થાનમાંથી નીકળીને યાકૂબ તથા યોહાન સહિત સિમોન તથા આન્દ્રિયાના ઘરમાં ગયા.
30 And Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever; and they immediately speak to him about her.
૩૦હવે સિમોનની સાસુ તાવથી બીમાર હતી; અને તરત તેને વિષે તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું.
31 And he went to her, and took her by the hand, and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she waited on them.
૩૧તેમણે પાસે આવીને તેનો હાથ પકડીને તેને ઉઠાડી; અને તે જ સમયે તેનો તાવ ઊતરી ગયો અને તેણીએ તેઓની સેવા કરી.
32 And in the evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were sick, and those who were possessed by demons;
૩૨સાંજે સૂરજ આથમ્યો ત્યારે તેઓ બધાં માંદાઓને તથા દુષ્ટાત્મા વળગેલાંઓને તેમની પાસે લાવ્યા.
33 and the whole city was assembled at the door.
૩૩બારણા આગળ આખું શહેર ભેગું થયું.
34 And he healed many that were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.
૩૪ઘણાં જેઓ વિવિધ પ્રકારના રોગથી પીડાતાં હતાં તેઓને તેમણે સાજાં કર્યાં; ઘણાં દુષ્ટાત્માઓને કાઢ્યાં. દુષ્ટાત્માઓ તેમને ઓળખતા હતા માટે તેમણે તેઓને બોલવા દીધાં નહિ.
35 And rising early, long before day, he went out, and withdrew into a desert place, and there prayed.
૩૫સવારે અજવાળું થતાં પહેલાં ઘણાં વહેલા ઊઠીને ઈસુ બહાર ગયા; અને ઉજ્જડ જગ્યાએ જઈને તેમણે ત્યાં પ્રાર્થના કરી.
36 And Simon and those with him went in search of him,
૩૬સિમોન તથા જેઓ તેમની સાથે હતા, તેઓ તેમની શોધમાં નીકળ્યા;
37 and found him. And they say to him, All people are in search of thee.
૩૭અને તેઓ તેમને મળીને કહે છે કે, ‘બધા તમને શોધે છે.’”
38 And he saith to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighboring towns, that I may preach there also; for, for this I came forth.
૩૮તે તેઓને કહે છે કે, ‘આપણે પાસેના ગામોમાં જઈએ કે, હું ત્યાં પણ ઉપદેશ આપું; કેમ કે એ જ માટે હું આવ્યો છું.’”
39 And he went, preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out the demons.
૩૯આખા ગાલીલમાં તેઓનાં સભાસ્થાનોમાં જઈને તેઓ ઉપદેશ આપતા અને દુષ્ટાત્માઓને કાઢતાં હતા.
40 And there cometh a leper to him beseeching him, and kneeling down, saying to him, If thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me.
૪૦એક કુષ્ઠ રોગી તેમની પાસે આવે છે અને તેમને વિનંતી કરીને તથા ઘૂંટણ ટેકવીને કહે છે કે, ‘જો તમારી ઇચ્છા હોય તો તમે મને શુદ્ધ કરી શકો છો.’”
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith, I will; be thou cleansed.
૪૧ઈસુને અનુકંપા આવી અને હાથ લાંબો કરીને તેને સ્પર્શ્યા. અને તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘મારી ઇચ્છા છે, તું શુદ્ધ થા;’
42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
૪૨તે જ ઘડીએ તેનો કુષ્ઠ રોગ મટી ગયો અને તે શુદ્ધ થયો.
43 And sternly charging him, he immediately sent him away,
૪૩તેમણે તેને સખત ચેતવણી આપીને તરત બહાર મોકલ્યો;
44 saying to him, See that thou say nothing to any one; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
૪૪અને કહ્યું કે, ‘જોજે, કોઈને કંઈ કહેતો નહિ; પણ જઈને પોતાને યાજકને બતાવ અને મૂસાએ ફરમાવ્યા પ્રમાણે, તારા શુદ્ધિકરણને લીધે, તેઓને માટે સાક્ષી તરીકે, અર્પણ કર.’”
45 But he went away, and began to publish it constantly, and to spread the matter abroad, so that Jesus could no more enter a city openly, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.
૪૫પણ તે ત્યાંથી જઈને એ બિના એટલી બધી પ્રગટ કરવા તથા ફેલાવવા લાગ્યો, કે ઈસુ ફરી શહેરમાં ઉઘાડી રીતે જઈ ન શક્યા, પણ બહાર ઉજ્જડ જગ્યાઓમાં રહ્યા અને ચારેબાજુથી લોકો તેમની પાસે આવ્યા.
