Mark 9
1 And he said to them, Truly do I say to you, There are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen that the kingdom of God hath come with power.
Les dijo: “Os aseguro que hay algunos de los que están aquí que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean llegar el Reino de Dios con poder.”
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them.
Al cabo de seis días, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, Santiago y Juan, y los llevó a un monte alto en privado, y se transformó en otra forma delante de ellos.
3 And his garments became glistening, very white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten.
Sus vestidos se volvieron relucientes, sumamente blancos, como la nieve, como ningún lavandero en la tierra puede blanquearlos.
4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
Se les aparecieron Elías y Moisés, que hablaban con Jesús.
5 And Peter answering saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
Pedro respondió a Jesús: “Rabí, es bueno que estemos aquí. Hagamos tres tiendas: una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías”.
6 For he knew not what to answer; for they were struck with terror.
Pues no sabía qué decir, ya que tenían mucho miedo.
7 And there came a cloud overshadowing them; and a voice came out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son; hear him.
Llegó una nube que los cubría, y una voz salió de la nube: “Este es mi Hijo amado. Escuchadle”.
8 And suddenly looking round, they no longer saw any one but Jesus alone with themselves.
De repente, al mirar a su alrededor, ya no vieron a nadie con ellos, sino sólo a Jesús.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them to give no account of what they had seen to any one, till the Son of man should have risen from the dead.
Mientras bajaban del monte, les ordenó que no contaran a nadie lo que habían visto, hasta que el Hijo del Hombre hubiera resucitado de entre los muertos.
10 And they kept these words in mind, questioning one another what rising from the dead might mean.
Ellos guardaron esta frase para sí mismos, preguntándose qué significaba eso de “resucitar de entre los muertos”.
11 And they asked him, saying, How is it that the Pharisees and scribes say that Elijah must come first?
Le preguntaron: “¿Por qué dicen los escribas que Elías debe venir primero?”
12 And he said to them, Elijah cometh first, and restoreth all things. And how hath it been written of the Son of man? that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
Les dijo: “En efecto, Elías viene primero y restaura todas las cosas. ¿Cómo está escrito acerca del Hijo del Hombre, que ha de padecer muchas cosas y ser despreciado?
13 But I say to you that Elijah hath come, and they have done to him whatever they would; as it hath been written concerning him.
Pero yo os digo que Elías ha venido, y también han hecho con él lo que han querido, tal como está escrito de él.”
14 And coming to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes debating with them.
Al llegar a los discípulos, vio que los rodeaba una gran multitud y que los escribas los interrogaban.
15 And immediately the whole multitude on seeing him was struck with awe, and running to him, saluted him.
En seguida, toda la multitud, al verle, se asombró mucho, y corriendo hacia él, le saludó.
16 And he asked them, About what are ye debating with them?
Él preguntó a los escribas: “¿Qué les preguntas?”
17 And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit.
Uno de la multitud respondió: “Maestro, te he traído a mi hijo, que tiene un espíritu mudo;
18 And wherever it seizeth hold of him, it throweth him down; and he foameth and gnasheth his teeth; and he pineth away. And I spoke to thy disciples to cast it out, and they were not able.
y dondequiera que se apodera de él, lo derriba, y echa espuma por la boca, rechina los dientes y se pone rígido. He pedido a tus discípulos que lo expulsen, y no han podido”.
19 He answereth and saith to them, O unbelieving generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.
Le respondió: “Generación incrédula, ¿hasta cuándo estaré con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo habré de soportaros? Traedlo a mí”.
20 And they brought him to him. And as soon as he saw him, the spirit convulsed him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed, foaming.
Lo llevaron hasta él, y cuando lo vio, inmediatamente el espíritu lo convulsionó y cayó al suelo, revolcándose y echando espuma por la boca.
21 And he asked his father, How long hath it been thus with him? And he said, From a child;
Le preguntó a su padre: “¿Cuánto tiempo hace que le pasa esto?”. Dijo: “Desde la infancia.
22 and it hath often cast him both into fire, and into water, to destroy him; but if thou art able to do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
Muchas veces lo ha echado al fuego y al agua para destruirlo. Pero si puedes hacer algo, ten compasión de nosotros y ayúdanos”.
23 Jesus said to him, If thou art able? All things are possible for him that believeth.
Jesús le dijo: “Si puedes creer, todo es posible para el que cree”.
24 The father of the child immediately cried out and said, I believe; help thou my unbelief.
Inmediatamente el padre del niño gritó con lágrimas: “¡Creo! Ayuda a mi incredulidad”.
25 And Jesus seeing that the multitude came running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
Al ver Jesús que una multitud venía corriendo, reprendió al espíritu impuro, diciéndole: “¡Espíritu mudo y sordo, te ordeno que salgas de él y no vuelvas a entrar!”
26 And uttering a cry, and convulsing him much, it came out of him. And he became as one dead; so that very many said, He is dead.
Después de gritar y convulsionar mucho, salió de él. El muchacho quedó como muerto, tanto que la mayoría decía: “Está muerto”.
27 But Jesus, taking hold of his hand, raised him, and he stood up.
Pero Jesús lo tomó de la mano y lo resucitó; y se levantó.
28 And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast it out?
Cuando entró en la casa, sus discípulos le preguntaron en privado: “¿Por qué no pudimos expulsarlo?”
29 And he said to them, This kind can go out by nothing, except by prayer.
Les dijo: “Este tipo no puede salir sino con oración y ayuno”.
30 And departing thence, they passed through Galilee; and he would not that any one should know it.
Salieron de allí y pasaron por Galilea. No quería que nadie lo supiera,
31 For he taught his disciples, and said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men, and they will put him to death; and when he hath been put to death, after three days he will rise again.
porque estaba enseñando a sus discípulos, y les decía: “El Hijo del Hombre va a ser entregado a manos de los hombres, y lo matarán; y cuando lo maten, al tercer día resucitará.”
32 But they understood not what he said, and were afraid to ask him.
Pero no entendieron el dicho y tuvieron miedo de preguntarle.
33 And they came to Capernaum; and having come into the house, he asked them, About what were ye disputing on the road?
Llegó a Capernaúm y, estando en la casa, les preguntó: “¿Qué discutíais entre vosotros por el camino?”
34 But they were silent; for on the road they had been disputing with one another, who was greatest.
Pero ellos guardaron silencio, porque habían discutido entre sí en el camino sobre quién era el más grande.
35 And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them, If any one desire to be first, he will be last of all, and servant of all.
Se sentó y llamó a los doce, y les dijo: “Si alguno quiere ser el primero, será el último de todos y el servidor de todos”.
36 And he took a child, and placed him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
Tomó a un niño pequeño y lo puso en medio de ellos. Tomándolo en brazos, les dijo:
37 Whoever receiveth one of these children in my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
“El que recibe a un niño como éste en mi nombre, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, no me recibe a mí, sino al que me ha enviado.”
38 John said to him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name who followeth not us; and we forbade him, because he did not follow us.
Juan le dijo: “Maestro, hemos visto a uno que no nos sigue expulsando demonios en tu nombre, y se lo prohibimos porque no nos sigue.”
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not. For no one, who shall do a miracle in my name, can readily speak evil of me.
Pero Jesús dijo: “No se lo prohíbas, porque no hay nadie que haga una obra poderosa en mi nombre y pueda rápidamente hablar mal de mí.
40 For he that is not against us is for us.
Porque el que no está contra nosotros, está de nuestra parte.
41 For whoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, truly do I say to you, he will not lose his reward.
Porque cualquiera que os dé a beber un vaso de agua en mi nombre porque sois de Cristo, de cierto os digo que no perderá su recompensa.
42 And whoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe to fall away, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung round his neck, and be cast into the sea.
“El que haga tropezar a uno de estos pequeños que creen en mí, más le valdría ser arrojado al mar con una piedra de molino colgada al cuello.
43 And if thy hand cause thee to fall away, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having the two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that is unquenchable. (Geenna g1067)
Si tu mano te hace tropezar, córtala. Es mejor que entres en la vida mutilado, en lugar de que tus dos manos vayan a la Gehenna, al fuego inextinguible, (Geenna g1067)
‘donde su gusano no muere, y el fuego no se apaga.’
45 And if thy foot is causing thee to fall away, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having the two feet to be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
Si tu pie te hace tropezar, córtalo. Es mejor que entres cojo en la vida, antes que tus dos pies sean arrojados a la Gehenna, al fuego que nunca se apagará, (Geenna g1067)
‘donde su gusano no muere, y el fuego no se apaga.’
47 And if thine eye is causing thee to fall away, pluck it out; it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell, (Geenna g1067)
Si tu ojo te hace tropezar, arrójalo. Es mejor que entres en el Reino de Dios con un solo ojo, en lugar de tener dos ojos para ser arrojado a la Gehenna del fuego, (Geenna g1067)
48 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
‘donde su gusano no muere, y el fuego no se apaga.’
49 For every one will be salted with fire.
Porque todos serán salados con fuego, y todo sacrificio será sazonado con sal.
50 Salt is good; but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
La sal es buena, pero si la sal ha perdido su salinidad, ¿con qué la sazonaréis? Tened sal en vosotros mismos, y estad en paz unos con otros”.
