Mark 8
1 In those days, there being again a great multitude, and they having nothing to eat, he called the disciples to him, and saith to them,
૧તે દિવસોમાં જયારે ફરી અતિ ઘણાં લોકો હતા અને તેઓની પાસે કંઈ ખાવાનું ન હતું, ત્યારે ઈસુ પોતાના શિષ્યોને પાસે બોલાવીને તેઓને કહે છે કે,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have remained with me now three days, and they have nothing to eat.
૨‘લોકો પર મને અનુકંપા આવે છે, કેમ કે ત્રણ દિવસથી તેઓ મારી સાથે રહ્યા છે અને તેઓની પાસે કશું ખાવાનું નથી;
3 And if I send them away fasting to their houses, they will faint on the road; and some of them have come from altar.
૩અને જો હું તેઓને ભૂખ્યા ઘરે મોકલું તો રસ્તામાં તેઓ થાકીને પડી જશે; વળી તેઓમાંના કેટલાક તો દૂરથી આવ્યા છે.’”
4 And his disciples answered him, Whence can ally one satisfy these men with bread here in a wilderness?
૪શિષ્યોએ ઈસુને જવાબ આપ્યો કે, ‘અહીં અરણ્યમાં ક્યાંથી કોઈ એટલા બધાને રોટલીથી તૃપ્ત કરી શકે?’”
5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
૫ઈસુએ તેઓને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘તમારી પાસે કેટલી રોટલીઓ છે?’ તેઓએ કહ્યું, ‘સાત.’”
6 And he ordered the multitude to lie down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and broke, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.
૬ઈસુએ લોકોને જમીન પર બેસવાનો આદેશ આપ્યો; અને સાત રોટલીઓ લઈને તેમણે સ્તુતિ કરીને ભાંગી અને વહેંચવા સારુ પોતાના શિષ્યોને આપી; અને તેઓએ તે લોકોને પીરસી.
7 And they had a few small fishes; and having blessed them, he set them before them.
૭તેઓની પાસે થોડી નાની માછલીઓ પણ હતી; અને ઈસુએ તેના પર આશીર્વાદ માગીને તે પણ લોકોને પીરસવાનું કહ્યું.
8 And they ate, and were filled; and they took up of the fragments that remained, seven baskets.
૮લોકો ખાઈને તૃપ્ત થયા; અને બાકી વધેલા ટુકડાંઓથી સાત ટોપલીઓ ભરાઈ. તે તેઓએ ઉઠાવી.
9 And they were about four thousand; and he sent them away.
૯જમનારાં આશરે ચાર હજાર લોકો હતા; અને ઈસુએ તેઓને વિદાય કર્યાં.
10 And immediately going on board the boat with his disciples, he came into the region of Dalmanutha.
૧૦તરત પોતાના શિષ્યો સાથે હોડી પર ચઢીને ઈસુ દલમાનુથાની પ્રદેશમાં આવ્યા.
11 And the Pharisees came out, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, trying him.
૧૧ત્યારે ત્યાં ફરોશીઓ આવી પહોંચ્યા અને ઈસુની કસોટી કરતાં તેમની પાસે સ્વર્ગમાંથી ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન માગીને તેમની સાથે વિવાદ કરવા લાગ્યા.
12 And sighing deeply in his spirit, he saith, Why doth this generation seek for a sign? Truly do I say to you, A sign will not he given to this generation.
૧૨પોતાના આત્મામાં ઊંડો નિસાસો નાખીને ઈસુ કહે છે કે, ‘આ પેઢી ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન કેમ માગે છે? હું તેમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, આ પેઢીને કંઈ જ ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન અપાશે નહિ.’”
13 And leaving them, he again went on board and crossed to the other side.
૧૩તેઓને ત્યાં જ રહેવા દઈને ઈસુ પાછા હોડીમાં બેસીને સામે કિનારે ગયા.
14 And they had forgotten to take bread, and had not in the boat with them more than one loaf.
૧૪તેઓ રોટલી લાવવાનું ભૂલી ગયા હતા; અને તેઓની પાસે હોડીમાં એક કરતાં વધારે રોટલી નહોતી.
15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.
૧૫ઈસુએ તેઓને આજ્ઞા આપીને કહ્યું કે, ‘જોજો, ફરોશીઓના ખમીરથી તથા હેરોદના ખમીરથી સાવધાન રહેજો.’”
16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
૧૬તેઓએ અંદરોઅંદર વાતો કરીને કહ્યું કે, ‘આપણી પાસે રોટલી નથી.’”
17 And knowing it, he saith to them, Why are ye reasoning, because ye have no bread? Do ye not yet perceive nor understand? Have ye your mind still blinded?
૧૭તે જાણીને ઈસુ તેઓને કહે છે કે, ‘તમારી પાસે રોટલી નથી તે માટે તમે કેમ વિવાદ કરો છો? હજી સુધી શું તમે જોતા કે સમજતા નથી? શું તમારાં મન કઠણ થયાં છે?
18 Having eyes, do ye not see? and having ears, do ye not hear? And do ye not remember,
૧૮તમને આંખો હોવા છતાં શું તમે દેખતા નથી? અને કાનો છતાં, શું તમે સાંભળતાં નથી? અને શું યાદ રાખતાં નથી?
19 when I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, and how many baskets full of fragments ye took up? They say to him, Twelve.
૧૯જયારે પાંચ હજારને સારુ પાંચ રોટલી મેં ભાંગી, ત્યારે તમે ટુકડાંઓથી ભરેલી કેટલી ટોપલીઓ ઉઠાવી?’ તેઓ ઈસુને કહે છે કે, ‘બાર ટોપલીઓ.’”
20 When also the seven among the four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did ye take up? And they say, Seven.
૨૦‘જયારે ચાર હજારને સારુ સાત રોટલી પીરસી ત્યારે તમે ટુકડાંઓથી ભરેલી કેટલી ટોપલીઓ ઉઠાવી? તેઓએ કહ્યું કે ‘સાત ટોપલી.’”
21 And he said to them, Do ye not yet understand?
૨૧ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું ‘શું તમે હજી નથી સમજતા?’”
22 And they come to Bethsaida. And they bring to him a blind man, and beseech him to touch him.
૨૨તે બેથસાઈદામાં આવે છે. તેઓ ઈસુની પાસે એક આંધળાને લાવે છે, અને તેને સ્પર્શવા સારુ તેમને વિનંતી કરી.
23 And taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the village; and spitting on his eyes, and putting his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything.
૨૩આંધળાનો હાથ પકડીને ઈસુ તેને ગામમાંથી બહાર લઈ ગયા અને તેની આંખોમાં થૂંકીને તથા તેના પર હાથ મૂકીને તેને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘તને કશું દેખાય છે?’”
24 And he looked up, and said, I can see men, for I see them as trees, walking.
૨૪ઊંચું જોઈને તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘હું માણસોને જોઉં છું; તેઓ ચાલતા વૃક્ષ જેવા દેખાય છે’.
25 Then he again put his hands on his eyes, and he saw clearly, and was restored, and saw all things distinctly.
૨૫પછી ઈસુએ ફરી તેની આંખો પર હાથ મૂક્યો. ત્યારે તેણે એક નજરે જોયું, તે સાજો થયો અને સઘળું સ્પષ્ટ રીતે જોતો થયો.
26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Go not into the village.
૨૬ઈસુએ તેને ઘરે મોકલતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘ગામમાં પણ જઈશ નહિ.’”
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, saying to them, Who do men say that I am?
૨૭ઈસુ તથા તેમના શિષ્યો કાઈસારિયા ફિલિપ્પીના ગામોમાં ગયા; અને માર્ગમાં તેમણે પોતાના શિષ્યોને પૂછ્યું કે ‘હું કોણ છું, તે વિષે લોકો શું કહે છે?’”
28 And they answered him, saying, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.
૨૮તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘કોઈ કહે છે કે તમે બાપ્તિસ્મા કરનાર યોહાન છો; અને કોઈ કહે છે કે તમે એલિયા છો, વળી કોઈ એવું કહે છે કે ‘તમે પ્રબોધકોમાંના એક છો.’”
29 And he asked them, But who do ye say that I am? Peter answering saith to him, Thou art the Christ.
૨૯ઈસુએ તેઓને પૂછ્યું, ‘પણ હું કોણ છું, એ વિષે તમે શું કહો છો?’ પિતરે જવાબ આપતાં તેમને કહ્યું કે, ‘તમે તો ખ્રિસ્ત છો.’”
30 And he strictly charged them to tell no one concerning him.
૩૦તેમણે તેઓને તાકીદ કરી કે, ‘મારે વિષે તમારે કોઈને કશું કહેવું નહિ.’”
31 And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be put to death, and after three days rise again;
૩૧ઈસુ તેઓને શીખવવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘માણસના દીકરાએ ઘણું સહેવું, અને વડીલોથી તથા મુખ્ય યાજકોથી તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓથી નાપસંદ થવું, માર્યા જવું અને ત્રણ દિવસ પછી પાછા ઊઠવું એ જરૂરી છે.’”
32 and he told them this plainly. And Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him.
૩૨ઈસુ એ વાત ઉઘાડી રીતે બોલ્યા. પછી પિતર તેમને એક બાજુએ લઈને તેમને ઠપકો આપવા લાગ્યો.
33 But he turning about and looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter, and saith, Get thee behind me, Satan! for thy thoughts are not on the things of God, but on those of men.
૩૩પણ તેમણે પાછળ ફરીને તથા પોતાના શિષ્યોને જોઈને પિતરને ઠપકો આપ્યો કે, ‘શેતાન, તું મારી પાછળ જા; કેમ કે તું ઈશ્વરની બાબતો પર નહિ, પણ માણસોની બાબતો પર મન લગાડે છે.’”
34 And calling the multitude to him with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever chooseth to follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
૩૪ઈસુએ પોતાના શિષ્યો સહિત લોકોને પાસે બોલાવીને તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘જો કોઈ મારી પાછળ આવવા ચાહે છે, તો તેણે પોતાનો નકાર કરવો અને પોતાનો વધસ્તંભ ઊંચકીને મારી પાછળ ચાલવું.
35 For whoever chooseth to save his life, will lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for the sake of me and of the glad tidings, will save it.
૩૫કેમ કે જે કોઈ પોતાનું જીવન બચાવવા ચાહે, તે તેને ગુમાવશે; અને જે કોઈ મારે લીધે તથા સુવાર્તાને લીધે પોતાનું જીવન ગુમાવશે, તે તેને બચાવશે.
36 For what doth it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?
૩૬કેમ કે જો માણસ આખું ભૌતિક જગત મેળવે પણ તેના જીવને ગુમાવશે, તો તેથી તેને શો લાભ થાય?
37 For what can a man give as an exchange for his life?
૩૭વળી માણસ પોતાના જીવનને બદલે શું આપશે?
38 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will also the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
૩૮કેમ કે આ બેવફા તથા પાપી પેઢીમાં જે કોઈ મારે લીધે તથા મારાં વચનોને લીધે શરમાશે, તેને લીધે માણસનો દીકરો પણ જયારે પોતાના બાપના મહિમામાં પવિત્ર સ્વર્ગદૂતોની સાથે આવશે, ત્યારે તે શરમાશે.’”
